cocolowlander, do esa w When Europe needed it most, the Ariane 6 rocket finally delivered

Arianespace hasn’t publicly disclosed the cost for an Ariane 6 launch, although it’s likely somewhere in the range of 80 million to 100 million euros, about 40 percent lower than the cost of an Ariane 5. This is about 50 percent more than SpaceX’s list price for a dedicated Falcon 9 launch.

With more launch, the price per rocket should decrease, but making it cost competitive will be an important mission if EU wants to launch hundreds of satellites in the future.

threelonmusketeers,

With more launch, the price per rocket should decrease

Should it? Are you referring to amortizing the costs of development, or optimizing the production cost of each rocket? No portion of Ariane 6 is reusable, so it’s not like they can get more launches out of each rocket…

cocolowlander,

Are you referring to amortizing the costs of development

Yes, I was thinking more amortizing the costs of development which will definitely get cheaper the more launch happening, but I guess it’s also possible for optimization of production, although I’m not expecting much from that.

Misleading title -looks like all assets, functionality, and code were stolen, not just some HTML.

20,000 downloads at $3

The ripoff artist made $42,0000.00. Apple made $18,000.00.

The original creator made ~$2,000.00, after TikTok comments pointed people to the original.

And

“Apple encourages the parties to a dispute to work directly with one another to resolve the claim.”

Apple facilitated theft, and owes this developer $60,000.00 if they lose in court. But they know they don’t have to lose in court, because they can spend $6,000,000.00 or more on lawyers, forever, to set a precedent to discourage others from suing.

If your day is just starting, maybe you need a coffee. There’s a distinct difference between Aryan (or Aryen in French) and Ariane (or Ariane in French).

Different words in different languages sounding the same is a wild launch to a crusade in 2025. Wait until you hear about Ariana Grande… the most Grand of all the Aryans. I know the additional letters won’t fool you.

So glad to see that Arianespace is back in business. At least now it is also abundantly clear that Europe needs its own and sovereign access to space.

I’ve not heard of Zachtronics, but love puzzle games. Do you have a recommended one of theirs?

    Edit: thanks everyone!

    FooBarrington,

All of them are pretty great! I’ve played a bunch of Shenzhen/IO, and it taught me a lot about low-level programming.

I'd say Opus Magnum is the best entry point for beginners, no programming knowledge needed.

    Emerica,

Can’t really go wrong with any of their games but Infinifactory and EXAPUNKS are my favs.

EXAPUNKS and Last Call BBS have the most flavour IMO. TIS-100 and Shenzhen I/O are also very good.

Honestly, all of them are worth trying so that you can see which ones are for you. They're all pretty different (with a couple of exceptions), especially MOLEK-SYNTEZ.

Zachtronics is back!! Was bummed when they said they weren’t making anymore games, guess they just changed names.

They made some of the best programming games out there for anyone that hasn’t heard of them.

    Sylvartas,

Oh shit you’re right, that is great news !

    jeeva,

I am amused to report that this is a legally distinct definitely-not-Zachtronics company that just happens to have two guys (including Zach) from Zachtronics in.

… But yeah, they’re back, whoo!

If they gave more time than just a few months, in example at least an entire year, then people could at least download those files before hand. Not sure how long this would take and how stressful this would be for their servers.

Is anyone actually surprised by this? How can you think Twitch is a longterm archive? Its like having backups on Microsoft or Adobe servers. Do not trust them and always have a backup plan! Not even YouTube is, because they deleted old unused accounts and therefore the associated videos. Not sure how far this gone though. I wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon/Twitch announces some premium service where all files will stay active if you pay a monthly fee.

They could also give the option to pay for this. They should know what storing a video costs and therefore could give creators the chance to cover that cost.

Yeah, shit idea. And exactly why NASA gets shit on for consuming money with less to show for it.

Spend billions on a program set up by one administration, then some tool comes along and wants to cut costs because they want to look effective and cuts NASA’s programs. Program never completes, now it’s just a waste. NASA, being by default a scientific endeavor thar doesn’t need to return an profit other than exportation and research data, is an easy target. Billions invested and nothing to show for it. WhY iS NaSA So iNeFfeCtIve!?! Repeat for another program later.
