CubitOom, do games w Whisper of the House takes the cosy isometric decorating of Unpacking and unleashes it upon an entire town like an ultra-relaxing endless mode

Unpacking is a great game because of the storytelling. This seems promising but unless it has a similar ability to weave a narrative then it won’t be to fun to play.

Maybe make dialogue between “Find the dwemer puzzle box, it’s… uhhh… somewhere” and “GO [fast travel] TO PLACE X, KILL Y IN ROOM NUMBER 6 AND DONT FORGET TO COME BACK WITH THE EVIL SWORD OF DARKNESS [automatically picked up by your character] [a yellow marker appears on your minimap and field of view, with a magic trail leading you to the quest location]”

WaffleWarrior, (edited ) do games w The sequel to Half-Life modding classic Pirates, Vikings & Knights quietly hit 1.0 after nearly 18 years of development: 'It's been over 6,500 days since PVK2 was unleashed'

Gosh I played all these mods back in the day, the Vampire One, Natural Selection, the WW1 mod, the Revolutionary War mod 😆. Gosh so much fun

Ilixtze, do games w Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader dev Owlcat comes out swinging in support of Stop Killing Games: 'Every player deserves lasting access to what they’ve paid for'

I like this guys because they are making an Expanse game. Are their Warhammer games fun?

redhorsejacket,

They have made one Warhammer game, Rogue Trader. It is a party based, turn based, RPG based upon a tabletop RPG ruleset. It’s quite good, though I admit that I play it on story mode difficulty cause I can’t be bothered to learn another RPG system right now, and idgaf about build crafting. With that being said, it’s a positively ENORMOUS game, with extraordinary amounts of optional content to interact with. If you go on expecting Space Marine 2, or Dawn of War, you’re likely going to be very upset. However, if you are prepared for something which apes the old Infinity Engine games of the 90s, or games inspired by the same, such as Pillars of Eternity, you’ll likely enjoy yourself.

raicon, do games w Vintage Story aims to save a piece of Hytale by hiring former Hypixel developers to create a new 'Adventure Mode' for the hardcore survival game

hytale was just hype, all the way around.

state_electrician, do games w There's still no sign of Star Citizen 1.0, but it did just get a revamped referral program so the die-hards can tempt in even more saps

I backed it right there in the beginning. I don’t even have access to my account anymore and I stopped caring. Star Citizen will always live in infamy, as this bizarre project that turned into some cult-like abomination and will just run ad infinitum until either the money runs out or the sun swallows earth.

I honestly think at this point, anyone still giving this scam money deserves the loss.

As long as they’re only hurting themselves, I’m all for watching stupid people fail miserably.

theotherbelow, do games w Young men are 'playing videogames all day' instead of getting jobs because they can mooch off of free healthcare, claims congressman

Its a lot more rewarding than choking on a small carrot.

Blumpkinhead,

Should have chewed first.

postmateDumbass, do games w Young men are 'playing videogames all day' instead of getting jobs because they can mooch off of free healthcare, claims congressman

Young men have no idea what health care is, nor do they care.

They are healthy and heal fast.

They are the ones who traditionally pay in and dont take out.

Underwaterbob, do games w The emulator that lets you play NES games in 3D has left early access on Steam

Zelda 1 seems an odd omission from the supported games. I wonder if some games are harder to implement than others or something.

Zelda is there! Remember it’s under “Legend of Zelda.” It looks friggin’ rad in VR 3D. I’m definitely playing through this whole game like this.

The weird one for me is that Super Mario Bros 2 is missing.

Underwaterbob,

I thought I saw in very recent patch notes that there was a community-made version of SM2?

CallateCoyote,
@CallateCoyote@lemmy.world avatar

Ah, I haven’t even started investigating community made content yet. Neat!

duchess, do games w The emulator that lets you play NES games in 3D has left early access on Steam

They want money for an emulator? that’s bold

pressedhams,

Maybe, but it’s not just emulating the rom, I thinks there’s enough value add for their $9 asking price.

Jrockwar,

Still, being able to argue they’re not for profit is what typically has protected emulators from being sued to oblivion (and with Nintendo, even that’s risky)…

pressedhams,

Yeah, the archival argument won’t fly here.

gaylord_fartmaster,

Has being non-profit been a legal defense used somewhere before? At least in the US the case law is based on commercial, profit-driven emulators being explicitly ruled as legal when Sony tried suing them. I see this said constantly and I think it’s genuinely just the result of propaganda from Nintendo or something.

pneumaticFax,

Bleem!

Olap, do games w 10 years later, no one has replicated Rocket League's mojo

Clearly never played proball, a quake3 mod which was a fucking hoot and laid a lot of groundwork for Rocket League. Did hours of this at LAN parties

Soccer tournament for unreal was also excellent. Deathball for 2004 for was also brilliant. I’d love to see CoD or Fortnite do a modern fps take on the concept
