Tahssi, do gaming w Bards are Baldur's Gate 3's best class and I can't imagine playing it as anything else
@Tahssi@yiffit.net avatar

My Drow Warlock has been a ton of fun. A lot of the NPCs react differently to you for being a Drow. I’ve been able to deceive or intimidate my way through a lot of dialog. Also Eldritch blast just feels very satisfying to cast in game.

ConstableJelly,

That sounds good too 😭. This post was a terrible idea lol, I’m less certain now than I was before I posted.

Tahssi,
@Tahssi@yiffit.net avatar

Haha I would just think about what sounds the most fun to you and play that. You can have 3 other npcs in your party that you control so you can have them fill in the gaps that your character may struggle in

o_oli,

Eldritch blast feels soooo good doesn’t it? The effects in this game are so well done.

pixel, (edited ) do gaming w Videogame fantasy settings are staler than mouldy bread right now
@pixel@beehaw.org avatar

I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 a ton over the past two years and honestly I’m really glad I’ve spent so much time in the setting, it’s so not traditional fantasy and it’s richer for it. I wish that more fantasy played with the expectations of the genre. Tolkien-esque fantasy is a great jumping off point but I wish authors/creators did more with it than just start and stop there

Really wish this game had controller support. I want to try it on the steam deck but only community bindings are available!

pixel,
@pixel@beehaw.org avatar

Yeah I agree, especially bc it’s on steam now and the steam deck puts a premium on games with controller support. But even on PC sometimes I feel like I’m short on buttons, but there’s probably some way to play comfortably on a controller and anet really aught to invest in it

Maven,
@Maven@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

I got a Logitech MMO mouse, and it’s great, I can play onehanded for most things!

TowardsTheFuture,

With action cam it’s definitely playable with a controller but I doubt they’ll put in controller support because like… there’s a billion different bindings and everyone rebinds everything in their own so there’s not much point? Browse community bindings and find one that works for you/your character(s).

Maven,
@Maven@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Yesss I’ve been playing since Guild Wars 1, I was there when the last day dawned on the kingdom of Ascalon, and I looove how they’ve evolved the setting over the decades! I’ve run D&D games set in it, and it’s a great great time

Kolanaki, do games w Deus Ex devs say they weren't trying to make a statement when they made one of the most political games of all time: 'What I think is the right future for humanity is irrelevant. It's all about...'
@Kolanaki@pawb.social avatar

It, like most games of the era, followed the rule of cool. As such, it references a ton of similarly themed media. A lot of which was cyberpunk, conspiracy theories, and general sci-fi. All the unique ideas in the game are really just in the game part. The story and all that is almost all entirely lifted from other sources. So it makes sense to me that they didn’t project their own message into the game. It doesn’t say anything the media that inspired it hadn’t already said.

Treczoks, do games w Young men are 'playing videogames all day' instead of getting jobs because they can mooch off of free healthcare, claims congressman

Someone so disconnected with reality should not represent anyone.

TheObviousSolution, do games w Young men are 'playing videogames all day' instead of getting jobs because they can mooch off of free healthcare, claims congressman

So basically, they are mooching off of free healthcare - by performing by one of the most risk free activities that is almost going to guarantee they won’t need healthcare in the first place?

MAGA tactic:

Take negative stereotype, say it is preventing a desirable goal from being reached, then say it is because of what you are actually trying to cut. Doesn’t matter if they barely have any real relation to each other.

donuts, do gaming w The Switch 2's super sluggish LCD screen is 10 times slower than a typical gaming monitor and 100 times slower than an OLED panel according to independent testing

Lol, I get it but comparing the Switch 2’s tiny screen to €600-2000 OLED gaming monitors is fucking pointless (it’s where the 100 times slower comes from).

B1ackmsth,

It’s also terrible compared to the first switch’s screen though.

donuts,

Yeah it’s not good, it’s just a weird thing to put in the headline. It’s like comparing a new hatchback with its competition, but then also say it’s slower than the newest Ferrari. I think that should be a given as it’s a fraction of the price

ysjet,

Except other testers found it to be ~4ms faster than the switch 1, in tests where they actually give their methodology.

Monitors unboxed just went “yeah it’s 30+ms, source: trust me bro”

arin,

Pretty sure phones have better screen responsiveness

Bought it a few years ago. Super cool, though I probably only messed around with it a couple hours before forgetting about it.

What “Mojo” are you talking about? The downfall and enshittification? Is that the “mojo” you want other companies to replicate? I fucking hate games “urinalists”. Nothing but shit, paid opinions and nonsense.

At least GameBanana still exists, though there aren’t as many uploads there as Nexus. Still good that there’s an alternative

@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

Nexus Mods is far too late on the monetization aspect. The restrictions placed on mod downloading sucks, and it hard pushes buying a membership. Not to mention they basically gave up on vortex and its a buggy mess even if you run it native.

GunValkyrie,

They gave up on vortex to make the nexus mods app. Which is pretty impressive so far. I would recommend reading the articles from the makers of it that discuss how they are making it and why. It’s really interesting.

I have been using the nexus mods app for cyberpunk and it’s really slick and easy.

Pika,
@Pika@sh.itjust.works avatar

I wasn’t aware there was a replacement that was suitable. I will have to look into that soley on the fact there seems to be a linux native release, thank you.

GunValkyrie,

Yeah I have my worries in the sale of nexusmods.com. But everything i have read about the new app is really promising and the people working on it have worked on other major mod managers in the past as well. So they seem to know what they are doing. It’s still in really early alpha so if you use it, make backups. Sometimes you have to completely uninstall and then reinstall to update which is annoying. But thats the cost of using alpha software.

I have a bridge to sell anyone who believes that.

abfarid, do games w 'No gay, no pay': The RuneScape community is absolutely mauling Jagex's new CEO over his decision to cancel new Pride Month events
@abfarid@startrek.website avatar

I’m pretty sure this happened because sooo many players complained about the event the last times. I remember boycotts and stuff.

I’m not saying Jagex isn’t bad, but this time it’s on players.

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Jagex never listens to the players when they should, so they dont get to hide behind the playerbase for this one.

abfarid,
@abfarid@startrek.website avatar

I mean, they listen sometimes. But the point is, they, as any other company, were doing it to pretend that they are cool and progressive. As the result they got mostly negative reactions. So why bother with the effort if you’re only gonna reduce your already dwindling player base. IIRC, they were very small symbolic events anyway.
