Got back into Kerbal Space Progam.

Funny I get bit by the KSP bug once again just before the Science update drops for KSP2, but c’est la guerre, I love playing with a buncha mods and trying to do complicated remote controlled missions while trying to factor in communications issues and times when the craft isn’t in the sun.

I need better hardware just so I can properly (for me) enjoy KSP v.v By which I mean like, RSS/RO though I prefer fictiony star systems (Ciro system <3 !!) :3 ^.^ Such a cool, fun thing, especially with lots of mods :3

TheAlbatross,

I’ve just started with the OPM mod and it’s been a delight exploring the new planets and their many many moons! RSS/RO seems like a fun challenge one day, but I do like the simplicity of the 1/10th scale Kerbal world.

What’s the Ciro system? Are there mods for entirely new solar systems too?

RiikkaTheIcePrincess,
@RiikkaTheIcePrincess@pawb.social avatar

Oh yeah, lots of them! So way back in ancient times we had… outer-planets.fandom.com/wiki/Planet_Packs 😅 The Ciro system is the one from the Galileo Planet Pack …kerbalspaceprogram.com/…/152136-ksp-1121-galileo… Aaand I loved it. There was a way to scale it up to RSS scale, which kinda trashed my system but I still tried to play it 😅

Smaller and simpler is definitely fun but I’ve got the bug where I always feel like I’m missing something if there aren’t as many mods as possible installed 😹 I assume there are still system replacers available now… but suddenly it occurs to me that maybe that’s stopped being a thing? Hard to imagine KSP losing an entire category of mods but I feel compelled to point out that I don’t actually know these state of it these days :-\

Got a new gaming notebook. Still trying it out, but I already bought Cyberpunk 2077, but only loaded for ~30 minutes for now. But I guess, that’ll be what I will play the coming weeks.

I’ve been playing Cassette Beasts and it is phenomenal! From outside the game it just seems like a Pokemon/Digimon clone but there’s so much more depth to the combat. The art is amazing, the characters are all written very well with a lot of depth and feel real. The music is amazing. My only complaint is that when the game is starting up if I tab off into another window sometimes it crashes. I started up Hallow Knight again after putting it down close to 5 years ago and I’m slightly less lost than I was before.

finished Omori.

Im glad I stuck around, kind of got a bit of RPG fatigue at the Sweetheart section. The gameplay was fine, i just kind of didnt have anymore RPG juice left in me and the RPG kept coming. Everything after Deeper Well was well worth the persistance though, and hoo boy the ending sequence came at me personally with a knife. Good game.

lethargic_lemming,

Ah. I started that game, then chickened out of finishing it

SynopticVision,

I went very far with it but gave up because I was feeling quite fatigued. I think I’m a bit after the underwater (?) Highway. It’s a fine game but I don’t have the patience for that kind of grind and repetition anymore

Thanks for the read. I have fond memories of playing the Sid Meier civil war games that I think came out a few years after this series. However, from your description and my memories, the games seem to share a lot of DNA. I also recall the Ultimate General Civil War game from a few years back. The mention of unit customization down to what equipment they field and who their commanders are reminds me of similar features in that game. Thanks for the write up! I love reading about this era of PC gaming.

Impressions Games is the name of the studio that made the Civil War Generals games. If you like old Sid Meier games, I’d put Impressions studios games in a similar ballpark.

redhorsejacket,

Really? Fascinating. I know of Impressions from their work in the city building genre. I hesitate to even guess how many hours I’ve put into Caesar 3 over the years. Seems they branched out far more than I anticipated.

@setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world avatar

I mean they didn’t really do 4X aside from Lords Of The Realm and Lords Of Magic games, but the city builders and strategy games do have, how do I put it, a similar wavelength was Sid Meier games.

You just unlocked some memories. My dad used to play this all the time when we got our first PC. I was too young and wasn’t interested in it then, but damn if you haven’t piqued my interest in digging it up.

Still Heroes of the storm every day. And going through the master chief collection. Enjoyed Halo Reach. Halo Combat Evolved was fun game play with a well paced story. Halo 2 is just a slog. Such long levels. Much of it just the same section repeated because padding. Story all over the place and jumping around between characters so no real sense of cohesion. Just need to slog through it so I can start on Halo 3. Oh. I have never played Halo before so this is all new to me.

I’m replaying Omori since I was on laptop/switch friendly games for the past two weeks visiting family, but I didn’t water the flowers my first playthrough so I’m here for the good good ending.
