I finally got around to beating Doom Eternal’s DLC, which I often found more of a grind than entertaining (some of the Ancient Gods fights just go on and on, and I hated the final boss.)
Then I started on Turbo Overkill, which does have a lot of Doom’s DNA but the pacing is a lot more fun so far! Been trying to get back into Hitman (3+2+1) as well.
But mostly I spend a shocking (to me) amount of my quick gaming time on Xenotilt: Hostile Pinball Action. I did not expect to get so completely absorbed into virtual pinball (been meaning to post about it on the pinball communities) but little by little I’ve been getting better at it. My current high score is only 1.2 billion, which feels good to get into the billions club but the ceiling is still so much higher!
While it was weird that there even was a Thieves Guild in Fallout 1, I do appreciate how it wasn’t just signposted about in town, and to get to it you had to really explore seemingly desolate areas, get through multiple locked doors and a hallway of landmines.
I was too sick to do rocket science for the past week so my Joolian mission has been on hold. Though I did decide I'm going to name all the ships after Bubble's kitties.
I've been doing a second play-through of Subnautica while I recover.
Just got the “true” ending in Pikmin 4, so I’m back to focusing on Mario Wonder. Both games have just been joyous experiences.
I’m a few hours into Little Goody Two-Shoes and it seems like it could be something special. Very curious about where it goes and how many different styles of gameplay it folds into its life sim/dating game structure.
The Mario RPG remake comes out this week and I’ll probably jump on that immediately. I never played the original.
I’ve been playing the Star Ocean 2 remake, I’m nearly through it. It’s been a lot of fun, definitely worth picking up if you have any nostalgia for the game!
I went back to playing Slay the Spire for a bit, since it’s almost N7 Day, but I might just replay Disco Elysium in stead. After ME, maybe it’s time to try Starfield? Have seen too many negative reviews to really want to pay full price for it, but we’ll see.
Just finished Sea of Stars. I never 180’d from a game so much.
I started it a week and a half ago, and I was in love with the game. The story was cliché, sure, but everything else was perfect, and the characters were kind of cute.
But the third act feels too rushed and the ending… Oh boy, the ending. It just doesn’t feel like an ending at all. I was extremely disappointed with it, and too many setpieces just led to nowhere.
And the true ending was even worse, in that it not only has very arbitrary requirements to unlock (including finding all 60+ collectibles scattered across the map in random locations), but ruins one of the best and arguably the most emotional moments of the game as well.
spoilerI despise time travel. Always. It just doesn’t work, unless you put a lot of thought into it, and the Sea of Stars developers clearly didn’t even try.
