got some free time so i made my mission to beat all zachtronics games. right now i’m playing EXAPUNKS. finishing the levels are doable although requires a bit of trial and error, but getting good scores let alone perfect ones is a nightmare. highly recommend it to anyone that wants a great challenging puzzle game.
I’ve been really enjoying Roboquest. It’s a solid movement shooter rogue like that really nails flow state. It’s got solid style, but the story is just kind of tacked on and can be ignored. You good bot. You kill bad bots. You kill bad bots gooder over time. Do again until bored. Good for genre fans.
Necesse has also been in my rotation. This is a weird one to pin down. Top down terraria / rimworld gets the basic idea across. It looks very newgrounds flash game but has some surprising depth and it gets its claws into you, eating away time. I’m only still in the beginnings, but I’m sure I’ll be putting more time into this one.
Try for yourself. Long story short: The devs would anticipate a lot of stuff you might try, and given that this is Douglas Adams the game can be quite snarky, but if not then you’ll see “I don’t know the word ‘foo’” or similar.
That particular game is notoriously hard and confusing and meant to be attempted several times before you’re able to get through it without triggering some dead-end in the beginning that will only become apparent in the end. It’s from another era. You might want to try Starship Titanic, also Douglas Adams, pretty much the pinnacle of text adventures (though it’s not a pure text adventure). All in all I’m just a tad too young to really have gotten into the genre, regarding point+click adventures I can recommend anything Terry Pratchett (multiple Discworld adventures) and pretty much anything Lucasarts, though the very early stuff (Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken) is quite rough around the edges. All the LucasArts and Discworld stuff is supported by ScummVM, you only have to get your hands on the game files.
I wouldn’t call Starship Titanic a text adventure. It’s point-and-click overall with some text elements in terms of things like certain descriptions. Sort of like a more advanced version of a Sierra On-Line game.
Fair enough but it’s definitely giving you the “throw random stuff at the parser and have the game be snarky” experience. It’s from the point-and-click era, the tail end even, but does a throwback to introduce those elements again.
Definitely another experience than Fallout 4 reducing dialogue to “yeah, nah, question, bail”.
Not any action, but they had a pretty large vocabulary. There were some basic commands they all shared like LOOK and EAST and INVENTORY. They would tell you if they didn’t understand.
Enderal. Went in blind. So far, lots of screaming and running from spiders when my mana runs out. Story and dialog actually has some meat, so am enjoying.
I’ve been playing some Terraria recently with friends. I still don’t really have too much of an idea what I am doing to be honest. Seems like a game that would be hard to beat without the wiki. It is fun though since I have some help, hope I can continue learning.
The wiki is your best friend. When we started we were clueless but it really does a good job of hooking you in. Keep giving it time and you will enjoy it! Eventually it will start to click.
I am still getting through Red Dead 2, just got back into it recently. Playing some Red Dead Online with a buddy too. Roleplaying an outlaw is loads of fun!
I’m not trans at all, but sometimes I choose to play as a girl just to make real men mad, such as in laser tag (that’s a very obscure TheOdd1sOut reference). The fact that I can’t do that in Pokémon Red, Green (the Japan exclusive one), Blue, Yellow, Gold or Silver is kinda silly.
I usually choose to play as the girl because devs typically make girl characters have much better customization options or just character designs. Not always but has been a trend i noticed a long time ago.
Like choosing outfits or hairstyles.
Theres usually a lot more options to choose from and also your choices usually are more noticeable when you use your character in game.
Im happy that devs seem to like to give lots of beard styles now so that helps me find more options that i like for male characters
I wish all the options were just available to whatever body type you choose instead of being restricted.
Also, forgot to say theres almost never make up choices for male characters. By choosing the female character/bodytype, especially in less fancy games, the way a characters face looks is usually a lot easier to finesse if you dont like the default options you get. And im refering to just basic bone structure/sallowness of face.
A lot of preset male charactures just look lifeless or hungover
