I sorta wish this was me sometimes. I have such a huge backlog that I have been committed to dwindling it down, I like seeing my “completed games” list grow, but I have also only replayed like maybe 8 games in the last 10 years.

FTL. Just got an RX 6750 XT and here I am playing it instead of Alan Wake 2 or some other graphically demanding title.

I think I’ve either beaten Elden Ring or DS3 the most. I very rarely replay games; I usually finish the story or get 100% completion and then don’t play again for years.

But I loved PVP in these and the way you gather items to make builds kinda requires playing through practically the whole game (especially if you want to use an item only dropped by the final boss).

Before these, the only other two games I beat many, many times in a short time span before I got tired of them was Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and Silent Hill 3. And they were all just to get the badass super weapon that they all only gave you after beating the game like 5 or 6 times. Ico’s and Shadow’s weren’t even worth it. That maul in SH3 so is though. I love that thing 😋

Definitely one of those games with incredible background designs that are worth just stopping and looking at sometimes. It’s one of the few games I’ve gotten 100% achievements on and a large part of that is I can treasure hunt a long time when the scenery gives me something stunning to look at.

Red Dead 2 is another game like that in my experience. I started walking everywhere and avoided the temptation of the fast travel upgrade you can get from the camp just to appreciate the sights more. I’ve also started doing that approach with (Modded) Skyrim (albeit forced because I’m on survival mode)

I’m working on my first playthrough of Sekiro right now but I’m kinda stuck. Corrupted Monk just takes so little damage from my attacks I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong.

Corrupted monk is one of the tougher fights. When I beat it the first time, I was just chipping away like you, and it took me forever.

You can speed it up by parrying as much as possible to stance break.

Walican132,

Yeah I’m pretty bad at partying in general. Working on it though enjoying the game so far?

The_Picard_Maneuver,
@The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world avatar

I fought with it the whole time on my first run too. It was too hard to unlearn all my dark souls muscle memory.

Croquette, (edited )

I haven’t played for years, but from what I remember, the posture damage is shit. There are moments where the Corrupted Monk is open after an attack I think. This is the moment to strike.

Edit: it took me back haha, but there are those big attacks where you have a red symbol over your head, you dodge that attack and strike.

pressanykeynow,

Well it’s actually easy, just parry all their attacks and deal damage when they are not attacking /s

You’ve already got this far, so you’ll do it.

There are also ninja tricks that make this fight trivial.

Walican132,

Any tips on which ninja tricks to try using?

pressanykeynow,

Using firecracker, snap seeds(up to 3 times) or ash you can stun lock her to the death, use divine confetti to deal lots of damage to her.

skulblaka,
@skulblaka@sh.itjust.works avatar

Be aware snap seeds are a limited resource until after the >!True Corrupted Monk!< fight, which is both optional/missable and also exists near the very end of the game.

You can allegedly farm them off some monkeys in Sunken Valley but you’re going to be spending an awful lot of time there for minimal returns, the drop rate sucks.

Guitarfun,

Corrupted monk has a lot of health. It helps to use Divine Confetti and maybe Akos Sugar. I rarely deal enough posture damage on him without depleting his health bar.

Guitarfun,

The divine confetti might only work on the spirit version. Still other consumables may help.

Live2day,

Divine confetti works on all enemies it just gives a bit extra damage on top of it’s standard boost to apparitions.

Walican132,

Oh I didn’t think confetti would work. I should give that a try.

Freelancer(2003). Replay this at least once a year.

BigPotato,

I had Freelancer with me on a deployment one year. Running space convoys by night, getting ambushed for my diamonds and stuff, running real convoys by day, getting ambushed for geopolitics.

Every time I pick up the disc, it takes me back.

I truly wonder if it has some QOL changes, or at least better visuals, anyway I have my nostalgia googles for the PS1 version… But it would be interesting… And I dare I’m curious for another game session.
