My biggest complaint with the first game is that the stat scaling made no fucking sense. It was more optimal to level a class other than the one you wanted to play and only then swap to the class you like after maxing out (in most cases). I hope they revamp how the progression works otherwise I’s be happy playing the exact same game
I am totally fine with them only marginally improving combat. Fighting monsters in the first Dragons Dogma is still to this day the best feeling combat in any rpg! What I hope they improve on is the story, the way the story is presented and the way the player can impact the world. The only character from I can remember by name is Mercedes and only because I accidentally let her die in her escort mission and then for her to appear later as if nothing happened.
I liked that the story was almost a joke. The game did enough to pull you along. That amazing dragon fight at the end then… some shopkeep is your beloved :D
I feel it will be deeper this time around. Dark Arisen’s story was smaller but once you learn everything, including who Death is, it’s really cool.
I remain flabbergasted there’s no simpler way to get ten buttons of input and 240p of output on a generic 32-bit ARM device with a zillion official and unofficial add-ons. Especially when you look at the unholy chain of adapters necessary for input.
Especially once you swap the console playing the game for an early-model Wii, which has been hacked to hell and back, and has Gamecube, Bluetooth, and technically USB inputs.
You could probably do it way more simply with emulation, but it seems the point of this technical exercise was to do it all with original hardware (which is pretty cool)
Absolutely loved playing the OG Crystal Chronicles with three friends and was very, very excited when a remake got announced. I mean, it’s so easy now that everyone is playing on their own Switch, right? Imagine fucking up the concept and spirit of the game so hard with the remake.
These guys fucking get it. Buiilding the hypercube is absolutely Chad behaviour.
And what still blows my mind is that the game supports cross save, but shared campaign progression is where we draw the line?
God forbid a game about sharing an adventure with your friends in a traveling caravan actually allows you to share an adventure and be a part of the caravan.
