Yeah, III was basically coined to differentiate one-man / low budget indies from high budget indies like Hades, which was made by 20+ people, and a much higher budget, when compared to “normal” indies.
“Since using letters seems to be the trend in the industry, we figured that adding a couple of i’s to indie was a fair way to describe this new format. Also, triple-i just sounds cool”
They’re a bit late on the trend though, according to Microsoft and Ubisoft it’s all about Quadruple A now.
No doubt it will be another handheld running Windows though instead of Linux
I will game on a Windows based PC, but Linux is a must have on hand held - Windows is too resource intensive, developers are not going to be able to get the same OS optimization out of Windows that they can with Linux
I don’t know if that’s still the case, but when this game launched it required you to be online while playing (despite it being single-player), and you had to login with a Ubisoft account.
5% at the end of the decade is quite a pessimistic take 😉
Looking at the graph 1% was crossed mid/late 2021, while 2% was crossed mid 2024, so almost 3 years later. Now 3% is crossed a little more than a year later. Next year we would be likely to have crossed 4% and 5% should be no later than 2027, even if it doesn’t speed up much further.
Last I heard there was a massive problem with cheaters and are planning a lot of microtransactions. Like, I’ve heard that in some cases every other lobby has a cheater. Not sure if that’s still an issue, but if it is imma still avoid it. It was definitely fun when it first came out and I hope they do something about the cheaters or already have done something about the cheaters.
Alive is a strong word (I think the master servers were fucked a few days ago?) but here is hoping.
The reality is that Battlebit has no chance in a world where people, miraculously, like Battlefield again. But I actually REALLY liked it and preferred its balance and TTK. And it might be the only game where I have ever enjoyed proximity chat (with pubs) since that, combined with dragging wounded folk, just works so well for both drama and hilarity.
As someone who genuinely likes the Battlefield series (and has said in many a chat “do not play Conquest. It is shit. Play Rush”) and is REALLY annoyed that EA are so anti-Linux… Battlebit is easily up there with BC2 and BF3 in terms of being one of the most genuinely fun and balanced BFs.
