Yeah, this is me too. 6.5 is my magic number. If I get less I’m tired, if I get more I’m really tired, so I’ve stuck with this for a while. Also found that sleeping in about 80 -90 minute intervals is the way to adjust when I need to. Don’t wanna interrupt a sleep cycle.
I used to be the same, but when I started working out (going 5-6 times a week depending on stuff) I could be knocked the fuck out for 10-11 hours. Whenever I wake up from my long sleeps, I feel amazing, so much so I feel I have the energy to do whatever - something which I needed use willpower to push through whenever I slept 6-7 hours.
Hope they work out with the original voice actors and actresses to bring them on the project. The Nickelodeon fighting game felt really flat because they didn’t had any voice acting.
I thought they added some later. I mean, Garfield was Frank Welker and not Lorenzo Music the way he should be, but Lorenzo's been dead for a while, so you take what you can get.
I can't imagine them getting stars like Will Smith, Ben Stiller, and Jerry Seinfeld for this project, so they'd have to use sound-alikes anyway.
Sleep research has moved on from recommending that everyone needs 8 hours or more of sleep. It’s nothing more than a myth now. Everyone is different, and for most adults the amount of sleep necessary in order to be fully rested is considered between 7 and 9, meaning a lot of people are perfectly fine with just 7 hours, and some need even less than that. In fact this review from 2 years ago suggests that we can’t even guarantee someone will be noticeably impaired with 5 or fewer hours of sleep.
For a long time, I didn’t feel fully rested with fewer than 11 hours of sleep… meaning, except for some weekends, I felt like a zombie all the time… but could fall asleep and take a nap any moment anywhere, for a few hours of wake up time worth (great for exams, conferences and the like: nap half an hour before, go totally fresh, fall on the nose afterwards). Then, last year, got some serious case of insomnia where I could neither fall asleep nor fully wake up for like a week straight… that was much worse, felt like going crazy, had to start taking meds to sleep 2, then 4, then maybe 5 hours, and still wake up feeling like a train had passed me over. Then like a month ago, suddenly fell asleep at around 7pm, didn’t take my sleeping meds, and woke up totally refreshed at 2am… the F!
So, based on personal anecdotal evidence… I’d say sleep is a mystery, and I want my cyborg on/off switch now, please… 🤖
You might want to look at getting some tests done. I’d look at Sleep Apnea and Thyroid tests. Those can be major issues that don’t get looked at often.
Hell, if I get anything over 7 hours my lower back hates me for the first hour after I get up. My ideal right now, is about 6 hours, and I typically wake up naturally after about that. Unless I’m very tired.
You can get decent ones on Amazon for less than $500. I think I paid like 350 for my 12” deep one, I’ve rotated it every 3 months and it still feels like new a few years later
Same! I have chronic neck pain that I’ve been working to address for about 3 years. We have a new mattress and I’ve been through probably 5 sets of pillows in that timeframe to get the perfect set that doesn’t leave me feeling shitty when I wake up. Nonetheless, I get about 6.5 hrs of sleep a night and wake naturally from that without feeling tired during the day. I slept for 8 hours last weekend and felt worse than I have in a long time - back, neck, and shoulder pain and felt more groggy and sluggish than I have in ages. I’m with you!
They tell you to place the phone facedown so the screen will at least dim & not be keeping you from sleeping (hopefully). Otherwise yeah, the alternative is to get the device that can track sleep without leaving the phone screen on.
Wow, I didn’t think I paid that much for mine. I preordered it when it came out, but I thought I was paying closer to $50. Not cheap either, but still not $75
The app advises you to turn your phone over so the screen is facing the bed. The screen turns off but the game is still running. It also advises you not to place your phone under a pillow or blanket to prevent overheating.
It is a great game but not for everyone I’d say, the game is pretty difficult at least for me and as I grew older I noticed that I enjoy an easier game with a good story to tell to a challenging game.
Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion: You play a turnip and you get to commit crimes. The characters are cute, the humour is silly, there are puzzles and bosses. It plays a bit like a Zelda game, I guess, except everyone is a vegetable. It’s pretty short - I completed it in about 5 hours, including all the achievements. I should play this again actually.
Spirit of the North: This is such a beautiful game. The best way I can describe this game is Abzu but you’re a fox. No dialogue or narration, just you, your spirit companion, and some really gorgeous music. This is also a pretty short game - I was fully complete with all achievements in about 6 hours. I’ve played this 5 times since I bought it 9 months ago because I love it so much.
Terra Nil: A reverse city-builder, where your goal is to clean up all the pollution on the map, restore plants and wildlife, and then get rid of any traces of your presence. You can play the whole campaign in a few hours, but it took me about 20 hours before I got all the achievements. I’ve put in almost 50 hours in total, because it is just so chill to play.
Oh my god the protags of dw worst movies should be the antagonists of story mode, trying to conquer dw by winning the race and become the next ceo just to force another movie of their shitty ip.
Imagine will smith fish saying midrace “if i win, my movie is gonna reference among us. And covid 19.” And his victory dance is him flossing.
Warning! First three games feature anthro animals!
• Corn Kidz 64: if you like games that play like they were made for older consoles (n64 in this case) and directly ported to modern PC (requires controller and has no mouse and keyboard support). Currently $6.99USD on Steam. Long enough to leave me satisfied but short enough to make me want more.
• Brok the InvestiGator: describes itself as the very first punch and click, having a point and click mode and a character control mode. Has multiple endings depending on how you play and what you do. Currently $19.99USD on Steam and has for $4.99 and $3.99 respectively a soundtrack and artbook DLC. Base game includes unlockable fan art and official character sheets. Also has a demo that contains all of chapter 1 of the full game, so you can see if it’s a game for you.
• Amorous: NSFW furry dating sim visual novel game. Free to play. Can’t get a real date? Have fun trying to get into the pants of virtual people instead! Warning! Contains nudity and visible genitals! Currently $0.00USD on Steam. Must be logged in to look at Steam page, but no such requirement for the itchio page.
• Ardor: free to play deck builder. Hasn’t been updated much since launch, I’m pretty sure. Play as a hexagon fighting other hexagons on a board of hexagons. Last I checked it currently has attack cards, movement cards, and cards that allow you to infect enemies. After each round you get to use the in game currency to upgrade things like how far an attack can reach, damage, how far you can move, etcetera. All numbers can go up for the right price. Currently $0.00USD on Steam. Has a $5.99USD support the developer DLC that, as far as I’m aware, doesn’t actually do anything.
I have played all these games, so I can vouch for them in various ways. I also tried not going over $25USD before tax to be a little more accessible to people who don’t have a lot of extra funds for games and tried not to go super well known and popular (even though I’m pretty sure Markiplier did a video on Amorous if I remember correctly)
Thanks for writing this up, never heard of the game and this was really interesting. I’m not sure how much of your write-up is explicitly textual, but the analysis is really cool.
Sorry, I meant that, having not played the game, I’m not sure how much observations like Curly’s inability to see the details are something the game tells you directly and how much is your interpretation. I guess I mostly meant that your framing of the story is really cool whether you’re just repeating the story beats as they’re given or mixing in a lot of your own analysis.
Ah, I see, thanks for clarifying. To be completely honest, this is more of an observation than an interpretation, almost every point I mentioned is part of the text of the game, explicitly related to the main story. Its less of a review or analysis, and just me wanting to get those thoughts off my mind. Although the game doesn’t throw plot points at your face (and I imagine that there are definitely people who didn’t get that there was sexual assault involve since the exchange about locked doors is quite brief) and also moves at a brisk pace, all the subjects I brought up are part of the main plot.
The only true “interpretation” is about the game being about what women suffer in the world, but I’d also hardly call it that; the only other major point that the game brings up is the company’s imminent bankruptcy and their lack of care for the workers, but if anything that’s just an extra factor that allowed Jimmy to act the way he is, and to Curly to justify his “bigger picture” supervisor mindset.
They’re not just reading into it, if that’s what you mean; the SA, and the rest of the crew’s behavior towards Anya is all very much what they described. Jimmy seeing Anya as a disfigured womb with a foal (as in, a horse) is literally what happens, not a figure of speech.
