More kitties!

I do like the visuals AC shadows. They are very satisfying and I say this as someone who is willing to tolerate even bad art (not just average) as long as the gamplay is good.

TwoBeeSan,

That first screenshot reminded me of rdr2.

Looks nice

A high effort post on Lemmy? It’s more likely than you think!

Absolutely love these, they are delightful! They must take a lot of energy to put together but it’s so very much appreciated.

I heard James say it will be released in parts and finalizing with the console release. So I will be waiting for that while staying away from spoilers

I did see there would likely be post-launch updates, but I don’t think I have the restraint to wait lol

Mackie, do zapytajszmer w Buy European

chlorofil,
@chlorofil@szmer.info avatar

chlorofil,
@chlorofil@szmer.info avatar

I really wish GOG would do more to support Linux and the Deck. I started buying a little bit more there ever since Heroic came around but overall the Steam experience is still vastly superior.

PerfectDark,
@PerfectDark@lemmy.world avatar

I make sure that every game I buy on GOG is done so through Heroic, so that the team (hi, Linguin!) gets the small % of each sale. I do love that GOG have an arrangement with them - it makes me very glad there is some option. And lucky for us, that option is amazing.

It’d be kind of like if Assassin’s Creed Unity played the same song that was in that famous reveal trailer (…)

God, that AC Unity trailer with “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” might still be my all time favourite trailer. It’s so good.

I’m glad AC Shadows is going in a good direction though. I thought the series was completely lost after the shift to RPGs. Still not sure I’ll play it but I might consider it now on sale. Yours is not the first surprisingly positive review I’ve seen.

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I agree. It still has a bit of a way to improve, but I’d say that if you were to pick it up though, the sale would be the safest bet, especially with the freakishly large base price tag

XM34, do games w What are some old games that are hard to revisit, because a more modern and superior version exists?

Dark Souls 1. Especially on PC it’s almost unplayable due to bad porting and DS3 and Elden Ring have refined the formula so much, it’s insane. The remaster is ok though, so I don’t know if that counts.

Coelacanth,
@Coelacanth@feddit.nu avatar

The original is rough yes, but I don’t know anyone that would play it over the Remaster these days. And the remaster is fine as far as playability goes. However, it’s still a candidate for this thread simply because the DS1 bosses will feel very anticlimactic for anyone who has played DS3/ER/Bloodborne/Sekiro.

prole,

I kind of prefer DS1 with DSFix to the Remaster, but I might be weird. I just think it nails the atmosphere better somehow.

JTskulk, do games w What are some old games that are hard to revisit, because a more modern and superior version exists?

Starcraft! I really think Starcraft Brood War is a better, more balanced game. The quality of life changes in Starcraft 2 make it so hard to go back to playing Brood War. I don’t know if I can adjust back to only selecting a lot amount of units or needing to click on each building to build stuff or not having smart-casting and good pathing.

VitoRobles, do games w What are some old games that are hard to revisit, because a more modern and superior version exists?

Halo MCC version over the original.

I saw Halo running on a classic Xbox and tried to play with the clunky Xbox controller. Couldn’t do it. Everything looked so low res and blurry.

BF bullets actually originates from your eyes. You’d think after 9 or 10 BF games they’d have made the bullets originate from the gun just to get rid of perceived “head glitching.” Even if it’s not truly head glitching, you can still shoot a motherfucker who can’t even see more than 2 pixels of of your head peeking over a low obstacle, let alone hit you.

iamdefinitelyoverthirteen, (edited ) do games w Perspectives on the LISA Series?

It’s a very good game. Very, very good. Pain Mode joyless is a challenge, and joy is super rare in The Painful. I suggest only playing on Pain Mode though. It feels like that’s how the game was intended to be played.

The Joyful was ok. It is still good, but nowhere near as good as The Painful.

There’s also a fan game called The Pointless that is supposedly pretty good, but I haven’t played it.

Also, last year they did a very limited run vinyl soundtrack, WHICH INCLUDED A DOWNLOAD OF THE FUCKING MASTER .FLAC FILES!!! How cool is that!? I am so happy to have snagged it as soon as it was announced.

andros_rex,

The game’s soundtrack is soooo good. Everyone loves “Work Harder” and “666 Kill Chop Deluxe” but “Voices” is a perfect ending.
