chicken, (edited ) do games w Game design question : how to make a "trapped" player character?

Here’s an idea: gameplay sort of like Goblin Cleanup, you have various chores you have to do cleaning and arranging the various levels of the tower at night while the dragon is home, and your work has to pass an inspection. Then during the day you are locked in your room, and have some ability to watch a prospective rescuer attempt the dungeon crawl without your direct input. But you can strategically arrange items, enemy spawns, and Dark Souls style hints to try to tip the scales during the chores phase. So kind of like a tower defense game in reverse where you are trying to lose.

Sims 3 is generally agreed to be the best by the people talk to, but my favourite is sims 2… (probably cause nostalgia :3)

Anyhow 4 is free and runs on mac from what I can see, so… just go with that x3… I personally wouldn’t pay for the DLC and just mod it, but I dunno how macs are in terms of mods

neon_nova,

Thanks! When I saw free to play I worried that it was bad.

TabbsTheBat,
@TabbsTheBat@pawb.social avatar

The sims 4 launched at full price, mind you, and later got made free for… some anniversary I believe :3… as a full price game it definitely got a fair bit of slack cause overall it had less content than the previous games, and people didn’t like needing DLC for what they considered base features, but… free is free ¯\(ツ)/¯

GammaGames,

Fwiw I still found 4 a lot of fun, it has enough unique features and the loading screens were much shorter than previous games. But I also didn’t play with dlc, so that probably helped.

2 is my favorite but I do agree with others that 3 is better. It has so much customization built in and the more open world is more fun to play in

TabbsTheBat,
@TabbsTheBat@pawb.social avatar

Oh definitely :3… nothing wrong with 4 as a stand-alone, just series wise at launch it was a bit lackluster :3… there’s definitely still fun to be had with it ^^

Nosavingthrow, do games w Recommendations for "girly" games?

Team Fortress 2 is a fun game about hats. There is a combat element, but it’s not really the important bit.

OnfireNFS, do games w Recommendations for "girly" games?

A little to the left is a cute puzzle game that might fit that category

Don’t know if this fits the bill for you or not but my partner occasionally falls into the clutches of the Sims on their laptop. They’ve customized their installation with lots of outfit + hairstyle mods and expansions, so you kinda get to make it your own

abigscaryhobo, do games w Recommendations for "girly" games?

I’ll add Spiritfarer. It’s not “pink” per se, but it’s a much more “happy feelings” game. It’s about taking lost sould and ferrying them on your ship, talking to them about their lives and feelings, and you can give them hugs of course.

Suck_on_my_Presence,

Happy feelings, maybe.

Cry your heart out, absolutely.

As an alternate perspective, early access isn’t some sad, new state of gaming. Done right, it’s a way to hone in on perfecting a systems-driven game that probably doesn’t really have an end. It’s been used to great effect in roguelikes, Kerbal Space Program, and Baldur’s Gate 3. If anything, the problem with the program now is that there are so many finished games to choose from that it’s a harder sell to try out an early access game.

Minnels,

They sell to gaming junkies like me. I am always looking for a new thrill and never finish any games :(

gamesieve, (edited ) do games w Steam Deck / Gaming News #12

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for promoting gamesieve! I suck at marketing, so it’s really gratifying to see that I’ve apparently built something worthwhile enough that suddenly a complete stranger is doing my job for me, there. :)

(Although… is it deliberate you didn’t actually link to the site?)

Also, ooh, I didn’t know Islets yet! That looks worth investigating further. Thanks!

PerfectDark, (edited )
@PerfectDark@lemmy.world avatar

Oh my gosh it was not deliberate! So sorry for forgetting a link, that was terrible of me. I’ve edited the site in!

Also, thanks for your work! I love that people like you are so dedicated to making things easier for people - and it is a lovely project!

arudesalad, do games w Reminder if you're leaving Discord for this Revolt server ( Linux + Steam Deck devs / creators)

Is there a way to puppet a discord account through revolt like there is on matrix? There are a lot of communities I am in that I need discord for.

Brewchin,

Not currently a Revolt user, but this would be a requirement for me to consider switching, too.

It looks like its API supports webhooks, so should be relatively straightforward to enable it (or perhaps through a third party, like Zapier)?

Remember_the_tooth, do gaming w It was so close too, if you count the remaster.

Pope Morrowind is the GOAT imho.

HamsterKiller666, do games w Man, I really slept on Days Gone (mini review)

Weird thing but I really enjoyed how the dialogs and reactions felt natural. Dacon felt like a ‘normal’ and believable person.

FinalRemix,

I love the combat/exploration barks, too. Sneaking into a ripper camp, and Sam starts ranting under his breath through clenched teeth about how despicable these people are. It adds some nice seasoning to the whole experience.

Dariusmiles2123, do games w Man, I really slept on Days Gone (mini review)

I really enjoyed it even if the story was a bit bad in some parts (not sure but I remember the beginning being pretty bad). I’d be happy to play a second one if it happened to be developped.

bishoponarope,

Expansion DLC just dropped today

Dariusmiles2123,

From what I’ve seen there is the Broken Road DLC but it doesn’t bring any new story.

bishoponarope,

Ah, for some reason I thought Broken Road was a story expansion. My bad.

Ashtear, do games w Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 | Review Thread (92/100 OpenCritic)

Really curious about how well this game does. Being at a significantly lower price point, if it ends up a major GotY contender, that will make waves.

Depending on just how JRPG the game feels, it could also have a big impact there, too. The genre doesn’t have a regular, clear market leader anymore.
