The World of Warcraft Pre-Expansion Event went live this week, and it was complete garbage. The event got changed two days later, which fixed basically everything wrong with it, and now it’s pretty good. I managed to level almost all my level 60 characters to max through the event, since it barely takes an hour each. Basically none will ever see any serious playtime though, and will just collect dust again.

Then I just finished the Solasta: Crown of the Magister - Lost Valley DLC and enjoyed it much more than the base game. The gameplay is still D&D, no changes there, but the setting is much smaller this time. You’re not on some world-saving quest or killing a god, but a very confined area, with about a dozen locations you can visit (plus sub areas like caves or dungeons). Your party gets trapped in a valley and has to find a way out. There are people living in the valley, complete with a city and everything, but there’s kind of a civil war going on, so you gotta pick a side and which faction to support. Due to my choices, the ending was kind of unspectacular, but still fine. Since there are multiple factions, who are at war, and you can’t please everyone, there’s stuff you can’t do in a single playthrough (mainly quests and dialogue, not locations I think). Since the DLC is on the shorter side, you’re encouraged to play through it multiple times, but I most likely won’t do that. I do however look forward to the second DLC campaign, Palace of Ice, which I’ll probably won’t play for a few months.

Next week, Diablo 4 Season 5 will start, which I look forward to. This time I’ll play a Sorcerer. Let’s hope it’s not another bust, like the Minion Necromancer last time.

Do the Mario RPGs count

I like the timing-based mechanics because they make the fights feel less like glorified menus. Sure menu-based fights can be strategic and entertaing, but sooner or later you’ll end up in grind city just mashing the confirm button to see number go up. Not a thing in the likes of Paper Mario and Bug Fables.

I played a bit of a closed beta I’m not really allowed to discuss in detail, but I had a blast! Looking forward to the full release.

Also got part way through episode 2 of Walking Dead, I forgot so much of this story. Handing out 4 pieces of food to 10 people (well, 2 to 8 since the kids were guaranteed) isn’t easy 🥲

And story time: My partner and I were down 146 to 149 in Destiny 2 crucible. We were separated and each crouching with glaives so they wouldn’t see us on radar.
I waited around a corner and filled someone with stab holes while she simultaneously killed some guardian with a sword (which kill in one swipe), since we were holding 2 zones it gave us the 4 points to steal the win! Glaives are so much fun in pvp

Camping sounds fun, I’m jealous!

I’ve been playing Gamedle recently. I tend to discover interesting games both as answers and while researching the info I have.

Radiant Historia

The enemies are placed on a grid and your characters have abilities that can move them around or place traps on certain squares, plus as part of the game’s time travel theme you can reorganize the upcoming turn order. Use those together and you can arrange the absolute sickest combos, knocking everyone into a big cluster and then wailing the shit out of that cluster.

Just be sure to play the original DS version and not the enhanced 3DS version with new art, voice acting, and story additions that ruin the tone.

Steam’s discovery queue is a great source for finding new games. It shows you a list of games based on the games you own and never repeats itself.

Mine is pretty useless. I have 4 hours of playtime on CSGO from 10 years ago and it thinks I want more FPS.

Manually checking out the similar games section of the ones I do play has been a lot better personally.

Edit: not to say discovery queue isn’t good, just that the similar section is another good option

Legend of Mana, although it was broken, I never got bored with encounters. didn’t have to worry about items or mana, only health. if they added a mana system (ironic) and fixed the stunlock, would’ve been more balanced

Since FF 6 and 7 have already been mentioned, I’m going to give a honorable mention to Shining Force.

This comment isn’t helpful, but I really love Demon’s Tilt. I appreciate this post and the suggestions here!

Metroid prime pinball was incredible, especially with the use of the rumble pack. Underrated accessory for the DS.

Made by the same team as the Pro Pinball games, which is why it’s so darned good.

I play a lot of Pinball FX and Pinball FX2. The only downer is that they’re huge downloads, even if you only own a few tables.

Not sure if it’s the same sonic pinball game but there may be another one.

Metroid Pinball was great I remember.

I’ll have to remember the others I played as a kid. They used to be more popular
