ginerel, do gaming w What games have you played due to FOMO?
@ginerel@kbin.social avatar

Pretty much any game made by Valve. I have a bunch of friends that are really fans of them and I gradually started enjoying them as well.

Nice. That’s one of those games I wish I got into at the same time as my friends. Portal co-op looks like a lot of fun

Is running an optical usb, and optical hdmi cable an option?

Unfortunately, no

lurkeymclerkface, do gaming w hardware: use TV as a monitor?

I am most concerned about the logistics of mouse and key slouched over a table sitting on the couch. Maybe some sort of desk setup in front of the TV? 1080p monitors are very cheap second hand. Sometimes thrift stores have them even.

Infiltrated_ad8271, do piracy w Is anyone else like 10 times more likely to play a game they pirated versus one they bought?
@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

I guess so, as it's fine to leave a game in the gog/steam library for a long time, but several games taking up tens or hundreds of GB on disk is a hassle.

On the other hand, I also notice that I have much less commitment, I discard them easily and often without giving them a real chance.

It’s the fucking engine they won’t let go off

BobKerman3999,

Unfortunately there’s not much choice in 3d game engines anymore. I’m not sure I want an unreal engine monopoly, btw.

tormeh,

It does seem to be the best one, although CPU parallelism seems awful. No one wants to use CryEngine, and Godot and Unity is only used by indies

Zahille7,

Source still seems pretty good these days. I haven’t played HL: Alyx yet but Source 2 looks way beefier.

RightHandOfIkaros, do gaming w Starfield and Bethesda Tomfoolery

Most likely a combination of dynamic resolution and FSR technologies.

Pulp, do piracy w Is anyone else like 10 times more likely to play a game they pirated versus one they bought?

I may buy a game on great sale to maybe play later

If I pirate it, it’s because I want to play it asap

Frame pacing and motion blur is my guess.

Aresff,

I searched the entire list of “Android Cracked/Modded App Markets & Repos” but unfortunately no other site has this 1.3.2 modded version.

On the Xbox, 30fps feel like 30fps to me, but after a while, my brain reverts back to 2005 and I kind of get used to it.

But it’s pretty jarring if I switch back from another game.

This reads the same as “hi, my friend saw my {dating app} date’s photo up at the post office with the note that they were wanted for the murder of 16 different {my demographic}. Should I still go on a date with them to that remote cabin in the woods?”

phx,

From a .RU site no less…

Aresff,

Yeah. It’s a lot safer to go on a date with someone who was wanted for the murder of just 1 or 2 different persons to that remote cabin in the woods, isn’t it? :D

Conyak, (edited ) do piracy w Is anyone else like 10 times more likely to play a game they pirated versus one they bought?

I personally never pirate games. I don’t like dealing with the cracks and the bugs that often come with it. I don’t play more than a few games a year though so the cost isn’t too high. Pirating mostly involves movies and T.V. for me.

Excrubulent,
@Excrubulent@slrpnk.net avatar

I used to avoid it too, but I was less worried about the bugs and more about possible viruses. When I realised there was a crack scene with certain uploaders that are trusted by the community I lost a lot of that worry.

The main thing is simply being steady. You can get used to, and ignore a lower frame rate as long as it's not jumping up and down.

Apeeksiht, do piracy w Is anyone else like 10 times more likely to play a game they pirated versus one they bought?

Pirated hades. Played for some hours, had a blast. Bought it on sale and now I’m still playing.

samus12345,

Wish I’d pirated it first. I bought it on Switch after the glowing reviews and played a while before deciding it wasn’t for me.

Apeeksiht,

It gets better the more you play actually. The hidden features unlock after few playthroughs.

samus12345,

The sticking point is the boss fights. I learned from loving Rogue Legacy and not liking Hades that I really hate having to do long, drawn out boss fights over and over again even after beating them.
