It’s so interesting that the Roche fight is where you felt the combat click, because it was the exact same for me! The game got waaaay more enjoyable once that happened, haha.

I know people dog on the remake for not being the OG/overpriced/a scam/whatever, but I really enjoyed my play through.

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe it’s because it felt very 1-2? Like, he has a pattern for his attacks I felt like so that helped it click

xactoman, do games w Looking for a PC FPS with deep gunplay, where NPC enemies are humans

Not human NPCs but Hunt Showdown 1896 has the best gunplay in any shooter I’ve ever played, not even close.

0li0li,

Oh yeah? Interesting!

That’s PvPvE only right, or is there offline PvE for loners too?

xactoman,

nah unfortunately but i still recommend, game is a rush

atotayo, do games w Looking for a PC FPS with deep gunplay, where NPC enemies are humans

I know it’s not what you asked for but i think you would enjoy the doom games, specifically eternal but 2016 is also great.

It has great campaign, great music, arguably the best combat system in a shooter game, it’s highly replayable, 20€ with all the dlcs when on sale and when played on higher difficulties it becomes extremly technical.

It also has a multiplayer mode but i don’t know too much about it

0li0li,

Oh, don’t worry, I think 2016 and DE are the best boomer shooters ever made, and play most other shooters to their music (I’ve been a fan of djent since Chaosphere).

slamphear,

I’ve been a fan of djent since Chaosphere

Wasn’t expecting to see this here, but same! I got into Meshuggah shortly after Chaosphere came out, and they’re my favorite band of all time over 25 years later.

I absolutely love the combat in FF7R.

It also took a bit for it to click in my head. I'm not sure exactly when ... but once it did, there was no going back for me.

I’ve been on a 3D platformer binge.

Just finished Castle on the Coast and was pleasantly surprised. It starts off feeling a little janky, but after the first 30-60 minutes realize it’s intentional and you are a silly giraffe parkour GOD. Some later levels get into abstract platforming and refreshingly different mechanics than I’ve experienced before. Worth checking out if you’re a 3D platformer-head.

Currently playing through Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Never played any of them before, but always wanted to. Just finished the first one and it was quite fun, although I did not like the final boss. There should have been a checkpoint after the first phase (2 keys phase). Looking forward to finding out how they developed the mechanics from there in 2 and 3.

Telorand,

Thanks for the rec! I have Castle on the Coast, but it’s been low on my “play later” list. I’ll move it up!

I've been absolutely obsessed with the 2014 reboot of Thief over the past couple weeks. I'm having so much fun just sneaking around and stealing stuff and finding new hidey holes lol. It's making me really want to try out the older games. I don't know how I slept on it for so long because it's been great.

GammaGames,

Have you played Dishonored? It’s an immersive sim with assassin magic, one of my favorite games!

CharlesReed, (edited )
@CharlesReed@fedia.io avatar

I have! It's a really great game and I love it too. That's probably why I'm having such a good time with Thief, since the gameplay is very similar. I've only really played 1 though; I did play Dishonored 2 once, but I couldn't get into it like I did the first. I still need to play Death of the Outsider.

GammaGames, (edited )

That’s surprisingly similar to my experience! I played the original a handful of times when it released but never beat 2 because it came out at a time when I was busy.

Somehow I did end up playing a bit of Death of the Outsider and really enjoyed what I saw, I should revisit the series to give them a fair chance

_Lory98_, do gaming w Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of September 21st

Mostly played Resonance of Fate. The story is surprisingly slice-of-lifey and the character interactions are pretty charming. The gameplay tho is a bit dull. I’m 15 hours in and more or less have been repeating the same thing for each battle, so I’m not sure how long I’m gonna play.

Also just started Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon.

Aww man I used to have so much fun playing split screen on this. Simple chaotic fun with your friends

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

All my friends are big MK8 fans so when I try to get them to play this with me while split screen they all look at me like I handed them a dead rat.

Still enjoy playing with them though lol

SteakSneak,

Each of these entries has a reason to play them. Sure mk8 might look better but there’s still lots of fun to be had in the older titles. I’ll always have a soft spot for double dash and mkds

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I always love revisiting the other entries. It’s nice to mix things up everyonce and while. I don’t think i’ve done a screenshot for it but i mess around with friends a lot in MK7 too

SteakSneak,

The online on mk7 was so broken at launch, everyone used that glitch to skip half the map on that Wii sports resort map😭

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

Damn. I wasn’t there for launch but that about sounds like a Mario Kart glitch. I remember when I first found out about Wii’s super shortcuts. That shits crazy

SteakSneak,

Yeah you ever watched summoning salt? Mk Wii speed runs look insane!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmJ_LT8bUj0

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I have actually! His 0 Star Super Mario 64 video is one of my favorites. It motivated me to try and speedrun the game for like a week before throwing in the towel lol

SteakSneak,

Aww man at least you gave it a go 😆 I don’t know how people can get that good at games, it’s insane to a filthy casual such as myself

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

It’s crazy. I got as far as clipping into the pillars in Peach’s Lobby and then got stuck on the BLJ (and that’s the easiest part). Having the skills to do that is some insane human level shit. I’ve always had huge respect for speedrunners.

SteakSneak,

Yeah same, what are some good games to watch speed runs of?

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t watch many anymore admittedly, but outside of Super Mario 64 i’ve always found Minecraft and Portal Speedruns to be interesting. The OG Mario Bros. ones are too just because of how the scene is now

SteakSneak, do games w Day 431 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing

I’m amazed you have the motivation to play all these games and make these posts! Wish I had your devotion 😅 I struggle to find time to play games anymore, any tips on getting back into them?

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve built up a bit of a backlog over the years. A lot of these are me forcing myself to sit down and play through these games I’ve been wanting to for a while. I also have a lot of free time on my hands though so im sure that plays into it.

I always try to sink about 30 minutes gams just to relax for the day though

SteakSneak,

Nice, I’m jealous. I too have such a massive backlog but unfortunately no time to work through it 😆 maybe in the future I’ll have more time. Any stand out games that you’d recommend?

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

Alan Wake II and Silent Hill 2’s Remake are both some of my favorites i’ve played in recent memory. Just Cause 3 is a good time if you’re looking for something a bit more explosive. If you’re wanting something a bit more sandboxy but not minecraft sandboxy then Project Zomboid is an amazing time too (it’s legit The Walking Dead game i’ve always wanted). Those are the ones that spring too mind, i’m sure there’s more though if i thought about it

Fajny temat.

zbych,
@zbych@szmer.info avatar

Pajonk,
@Pajonk@szmer.info avatar

maryu,

Gdzie znajdę informację o pochodzeniu bawełny i innych materiałów?

zbych,
@zbych@szmer.info avatar

Finished my Hollow Knight: Silksong 100% playthrough. Great game with some weird, frustrating and outright bad segments, that make you question what the devs were smoking.

Then I also beat Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. I was pretty close to the end two weeks ago, before I took a break because of Silksong. Only one small boss and the final boss was left, but hunting for the rest of the secrets still took a while. It’s definitely better than Circle of the Moon, which I played before this, just because it doesn’t play like absolute cheeks. Graphics and Music are a major downgrade though.

Next up is the final Castlevania GBA game, Aria of Sorrow. I’ve played the sequel, Dawn of Sorrow on the NDS years ago, and I remember it being great, so I have high hopes for this one.

Then I started Megabonk. It’s Risk of Rain 2, but as an ASS game (Auto-Shooter Survivor game, like Vampire Survivors). Each run is 1-3 loops of a single map, and there are only two different maps in total. Characters, weapons and leveling are like VS, so your choice is for a starting weapon and each characters innate passive. Then you also earn money during a run to open chests for different items, like in RoR. While I think the game is solid, you have to like the gameplay enough to be fine with just not much variety in the visuals.

Vodulas,

Curious at which segments you disliked in Silksong. I am only getting to Act 2, but have had some spots that were anti-fun.

Poopfeast420, (edited )

I think flying enemies are absolutely terrible to fight, especially early game.

Runbacks are the things everyone has already been talking about. There were two in the whole game that I thought were terrible, so it could have been worse.

However, for boss runbacks especially, because your corpse is in their room, it discourages leaving and coming back later. This can of course lead to just bashing your head against a difficult section and getting frustrated even more. In Hollow Knight your ghost at least spawned in front of the room so you didn’t have to commit to fighting the boss, even if you had to make it back there again.

I guess because of how much of the game is optional and non-linear, the devs couldn’t often really plan on when players will have which ability or upgrade, so some stuff felt kinda underutilized, for long stretches of the game.

Why are so many shard drops above places, where 75% of them will fall into unrecoverable spots? For rosaries, you at least get the magnet, just add the shards to that or something.

Vodulas,

100% agree on the flying enemies. My big thing was the downward attack stages. Without the crest that changes that, it was terrible

Poopfeast420,

I just used the Wanderers Crest the whole game, mainly for the normal downward pogo.

For some reason the game forces you into a specific crest a few times throughout, which I just find weird and unnecessary.

chloyster,

While definitely more clunky than the original games system, I don’t recall any boss fight where you couldn’t at least die at the edge of the boss area you enter on and grab your stuff without actually fighting the boss. Ive done this pretty frequently

Davel23,

If you like Megabonk you should check out Vampire Hunters. Very similar idea.

Poopfeast420,

Played it for a bit last year, shortly after the 1.0 release.

It’s probably a better game than Megabonk, but I think the Auto-Shooting part doesn’t really work in first-person, if you have to do all the aiming yourself anyway.

Still fun for a while.
