No one is seeing it. It’s not there.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I definitely didn’t interpret this as shitting on Steam. In fact, the opposite.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

It’s very impressive. Although it explains why the remote streaming and controller stuff is so GD buggy.

Theres probably like 3 guys total working on them. Maybe not even full-time.

Ken Levine says BioShock nearly went nowhere and was almost canceled: "We can't make those games because they don't sell" (www.gamesradar.com) angielski

What’s interesting to me is of course how cheaply Bioshock got made compared to today’s blockbuster hits. Somewhere, we took the wrong turn in regards to modern game development, truly....

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

So, a hit…?

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Interesting. How did Infinite do that? Or was it Burial at Sea?

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Fallout flashbacks.

Both can happen.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

People say that, though it’s my favorite. And I am not alone.

I feel like the DLCs were much rougher, though.

I wasn’t disappointed by what looked like a 2d platormer or brawler, but I agree otherwise.

Edit: I guess it’s neither

But I love 2d brawlers, and something like a hi-fi rush in old Streets of Rage / Capcom beat-rm-up style, with this level of art and quality would be awesome.

ripcord,

Have they? IMO Super Mario Odyssey is the #1 Mario game ever made (Super Mario World being #2). And Wonder is pretty good. Heck, even tbr 3d remake collection thing was pretty nice, as far as “remastered” releases go.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Things have changed quite a bit since then.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Well, for one, there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of compatible software, which has been a big factor in the success of the Steam Deck and was a big complaint about the original Steam Box/Machine.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I have great memories of Skyrim. And FO3. And New Vegas. And Fallout 4. And Fallout 76 actually got not bad. And Elder Scrolls: Online had one of my favorite quest chains in a game. And…

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Starfield didn’t have modding, but was it an embarrassingly buggy title that hasn’t innovated on anything since Fallout 3?

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

What does that have to do with the comment you replied to?

Also why would it be annoying if people say a good game is a good game and it is warranted?

It’s like people on this thread have some pathological need to complain about SOMETHING.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

…which is 9 years old.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

OK, that’s true for a few places, but why is it true in the majority of casss where people are buying the ROG?

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

What’s the advantage of the mini PCs over a relatively cheap Android TV with the Steam Link app or even an old Steam Link hardware?

What’s the hardware you’re using?

I have been doing local streaming from my gaming PC to devices around tbe house (using mostly Steam and Moonlight) for nearly a decade.

I just find the steam stuff maddeningly buggy (setups that worked a month ago suddenly start having some new issue, usually Steam Input or otherwise controller-related). But when things work, it’s fantastic. Especially for living room gaming with friends (or my kid)

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I believe also Tech Jesus did a video too. Lots of stuff going on with this.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I keep hearing it referred to an an “A” or “AA” game, which seems appropriate.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

God damn. You people just NEED to be upset about stuff. Like, pathologically.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Seriously. Jesus Christi, peopke

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

No, a bunch of people here just need to be outraged about something all the time, and pessimistic about everything.

Nothing can ever be even modestly positive. Everything - everything - has to be bad and negative all the time. If it was a cute puppy video, there’d be a bunch of comments about how puppy farms are evil and etc.

It’s exhausting.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Strange then that they are now only listed in 18 countries.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Just watched. That was amazing.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Or Star Citizen, which may still never deliver (at least not a “launch” game and certainly not 80% of what has been promised).

Most time and most money spent developing a game ever so far.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, it’d be nice. Which is why they’ve pulled in $750m.

Unfortunately they’ve also spent $750m and they’re not even remotely close to what they promised.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

We get what you meant. And I totally agree with the reaction.

Don’t know why that person is having a tough time getting it.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

The Cyclops

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

That’s the particular Cyclops’ name

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

See I thought maybe the reason you were WHATing was because you thought the whole name was a type of monster

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Ah yes. Unless it’s shitting on something, or something negative, it’s not news. Or something anyone would be interested in.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

This was more a way for them to keep people putting in quarters at the arcades and selling machines to arcade ops.

It translated to some home games, but wasn’t the focus of putting out all these new versions. It made some sense at the time.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I felt the same way about E:D, and I also enjoyed No Man’s Sky quite a bit.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

There is at least a couple of core storyline loops that I think are fairly engaging, besides just setting your own goals.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, for the most part ship flying is better in Elite. Especially travelling long distances. But I still enjoy it in NMS for the most part.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

…Interloper

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

He was there literally receiving an award for that movie, even

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I heard also that even earlier than that, there was an E.T. game that may have been a bad cash grab. I doubt it had any serious impact, though.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

1080p (docked). So you’d plan for 1080p.

But you’re actually probably at least partly right. I’m sure they’ve done at least some upscaling and stored at a higher res which may actually take up more space.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

You’re trying so hard to do some edgy pessimistic thing and it’s pretty funny how bad you’re failing.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Man, Dune 2 was so innovative at the time. And I didn’t appreciate it enough (I was pretty young). I actually liked Dune 1 better at the time.

It’s also weird to me that you can draw a (almost) direct line from Dune 2 to World of Warcraft.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, there was StarCraft 2 after it. And the Warcraft 3 remake thing. But yeah, they mostly lost interest (in anything that wasn’t just an absolute fucking printing press for money like WoW was)

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks for that!

heaps

Oh, hey, g’day

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Ha, I wondered when you said “buddy” :)
