ramble81,

I irrationally hate the term “web3” (or maybe it’s rational). It feels like someone tried to force a paradigm rather than the natural evolution.

ramble81,

Say anything nice about Windows, or hell, anything about Windows period and they’ll come out of the woodwork.

ramble81,

So this looks more like an upscale than a remaster? I was hoping they’d use the RDR2 engine for it since a chunk of New Austin was there already.

ramble81,

I’d be good if it was a game set in the universe where you’re a bender but not one of the main cast. For example if you’re in the fire nation you’re in the military and may have run ins with them. Same with the other tribes. You could do unique situations for each element and not be tied to the main characters

ramble81,

I use a 4K TV that’s 43”, but I like to run games at 1440p native (I.e 1:1 pixels, no stretching) when I measured it out it was the same as a 27” monitor which I thought was perfect.

ramble81,

Ghosts n Goblins say what?

ramble81,

“Finally beat it!… wait, what do you mean I have to do it all over again on a harder difficulty with the weakest weapon?!”

ramble81,

I’ll be your friend (I have never played Terraria)

rdr2 question angielski

Finally bought this on the steam sale, playing on steamdeck. Im all about open world games where you can do whatever you want. I hate being locked into “missions”, escort quests, etc. I like a game having these as an option to do at my leisure however. Im several hours in and the environment looks amazing, would love to go...

ramble81,

I’d say wait for Chapter 2 and then go have fun.

ramble81,

Glad I wasn’t the first one to suggest it. It’d be so much better if they finish it off and provide the missing gap to the original game.

ramble81,

Am I the only one who thinks those prices are still too high for 25+ year old titles? Don’t get me wrong, absolutely love the games, but this “discount” feels closer to what it should be.

ramble81,

We will update the Backstage Pass Cars list with all the remaining cars that have previously been Festival Playlist Exclusive

That’s nice that you’ll at least be able to finally get exclusive cars you may have missed.

ramble81,

Finally! The return of MvC2. I bought MvC3 when it came out and I was so disappointed. Not because of the smaller roster but because they reduced pretty much every player to the exact same move set. So it didn’t matter who you chose, it was always the same.

Dev of cancelled Life By You game shares some information, including just two weeks notice of cancellation after being given the thumbs-up a few weeks prior (www.linkedin.com) angielski

I cannot share specific numbers, but I can say that we had an internal metric we were aiming for that had been approved, and that we exceeded that number by a significant portion. We also got a thumbs up a few weeks before launch.

ramble81,

I still like the one suggestion I saw to combat that… “sure you can claim it as a loss on your taxes, but in return it must be released to the public domain for free”

ramble81,

Make fun of it all you want, but I really liked X-2 and the dress sphere concept

ramble81,

Oh? Whys that? (And what did you think of X?)

ramble81,

I’d love to play XVI, the story sounds amazing and the graphics are cutting-edge Square but two things keep turning me off:

  • The fighting system is way too close to DMC which I absolutely hated, I want a JPRG not an action game
  • it’s platform exclusive, talk to me when it’s on Steam

So really they’re doing it to themselves here. Their comment about “we’re modernizing the game to bring it to more people” just rings of BS, especially with their sales recently, and if they really cared about that they’d be fast tracking and announcing a date for XVI on the PC.

ramble81,

Yes there are other formats such as DTS and Auro 3D. You can even do it with straight up LPCM if you want, but DD is one of the quickest ways to do it and iirc DTS has similar licensing requirements with their logo, and barely anyone has Auro. You could try to use LPCM but you’d need a multichannel output such as 6x analog connections or a digital source using bitstreamed output which many didn’t have at the time.

ramble81,

Let’s not forget the whole “oh you beat it once, but what about twice to get the actual ending?”

ramble81,

Nope, that was the OG alright.

ramble81,

The biggest thing I hate about any HDMI overlay is they inevitably screw with the picture quality of the underlying image.

ramble81,

Uematsu greatly deserves any honor he gets.

As for the XV soundtrack, I recently spent 50 hours playing the game and there’s not one song I can actively remember the theme for. Looking back at all of Nobuo’s works and I recall so many of his themes across games.

ramble81,

I bought a few thousand dollars because I could and I’m just sitting on it because I’m very curious what’s going to happen. I really believe the float has been locked up for a while and there’s some serious shenanigans going on. I either will strike it rich or at some point throw in the towel and write off the losses on my taxes. But I look back at when everyone wrote off Bitcoin and look at it now.

ramble81,

For me it was the opposite. I had low expectations and the longer I played it the more it grew on me, especially with the sheer amount of content. It’s actually probably in my top 5 FF games.

ramble81,

So how in the world do you do Zangief’s atomic pile driver?!

ramble81,

“Stop trying to monetize popular IP!”

Or as Yogurt put it “merchandizing, merchandising, merchandising. That’s where the real money is”

ramble81,

That gigantic book could be very plausible

ramble81,

From the wiki: “ of their psyche known as a Persona, which they summon by firing a gun-like object called an “Evoker” at their head.”

Ummm, what?

ramble81,

Ah nothing like giving impressionable youth a game that makes them think if they blow their brains out they’ll get super powers.

ramble81, (edited )

Anecdotally, everyone I’ve talked to about it doesn’t care. They don’t like she’s a TERF and some even condemn her for it, but every single person I’ve talked to separates the world of Harry Potter from her. It basically has a life of its own and they couldn’t care less about JKR now, that’s what I’ve been able to surmise of people’s view of it now. It’s like having racist parents but not being labeled as one because you’re a separate entity.

ramble81,

(Thought experiment time) So at what point, if ever, does a universe separate from its creator? Think about Star Wars. There have been a large number of derivative works by multiple authors. However if George Lucas came out against gays and trans people, would you taint the entire franchise? At what point are the two separated, if ever?

ramble81,

So you’ve had the game for 3 years and you’ve now payed more than the retail price. Are you going to keep paying for it, or do you expect it to be “yours”. Also, as with most things digital, let’s say you invest a hundred hours, almost get to the end and…. They decide to yank the game from their service. No ending for you. Thoughts on that? Both are very real scenarios by “renting” the game.

ramble81,

Free…. until the Epic launcher says otherwise.

ramble81,

I always use inverted because I’m telling the camera where to go, not where I’m going to look. So if I want to look up, I need the camera below me.

ramble81,

That’s the end of new AAA games. There’s still loads of older and indie games out there.

ramble81,

I will always abhor this game for being the reason the final installment of the Deus Ex franchise didn’t come out…

Intel Arc GPU Graphics Drivers 101.4672 Beta Released (www.techpowerup.com) angielski

The new 101.4672 Beta drivers do not appear to bring any further improvements or fixes and appear mostly focused on supporting the Starfield game. There are still plenty of issues with Starfield but Intel notes that further fixes are coming in future driver updates.

ramble81,

That basically answered my question, is every version of the driver basically an ever increasing if/then of fixes specific to each game that has to be uniquely identified based on something like the executable name or is it more so that they find one oddity that would be fixed across multiple games? It feels like the former as they’re having to do it for most every game that comes out.

ramble81,

Welp, I was interested in trying GI until reading this.

ramble81,

“I wish we could find a solution to the problem we’re going to cause” says the person causing the problem in the first place.

ramble81,

So basically they just did an “upscale” remaster of the original, rather than using the assets and engine from RDR2? (Which is annoying because pretty much all of New Austin was built out)
