Your favorite video game doesn't need a remake | Digital Trends (www.digitaltrends.com) angielski

Curious about y’alls opinions on this. I like the idea of getting new people to experience an older game by aligning it to modern graphics and accessibility standards. But capitalizing on nostalgia with quick updates to that make it look modern rather than making new games seems like just more of studios trying to squeeze...

prole,

You can get a used PS4 for pretty damn cheap these days, and Bloodborne is basically free… I would say it’s worth the investment, the game is phenomenal.

prole,

I really hope this isn’t shit.

By “original”, I assume they mean Yakuza [Kiwami] 1 not Yakuza 0?

prole,

Their photos are still unwittingly being used as training data.

prole,

Excellent question.

prole,

I guess this was just one level of abstraction too much for you huh?

The entire issue here is AI being trained on people’s data without them knowing or giving permission. The question of who’s likenesses and which photos are being used is an excellent question and it’s a big part of the problem here.

prole,

From what I’ve seen, don’t expect a polished, marketable “Beta” or “Early Access” even. It seems like they really rushed to get this one released by the date they chose in advance (one of the dev’s birthday I think?), and therefore is missing tons of features and in many cases just straight up broken.

I’m gonna wait til this one is a little more baked before giving it a try, otherwise I’m worried the ensuing frustration might ruin the mode for me once it’s actually working as intended.

prole,

It’ll be interesting to see just how little this is in the national news given the location of the path compared to times when the path of an eclipse has gone through major metropolitan areas in the northeast or west coast. Almost an indirect measurement of science education in each area. I didn’t even know there was an eclipse coming until this article.

Or maybe I’ll be proven wrong…

prole,

I don’t remember having any issues with gameplay in GotG. The battles got slightly repetitive, but I didn’t have much trouble beating it in hard mode (and loved it). Weren’t that many battles I had to try more than once or twice.

Great game.

prole,

Nah

prole,

he isn’t getting paid for any of this

Ah yes, billionaires making business decisions out of the kindness of their heart. Super likely.

These people don’t make the bulk of their wealth through a paycheck.

prole,

As much as I don’t want to see game prices increase, I’ve been shocked to see that they haven’t kept up with inflation at all. Especially since the cost of developing games has skyrocketed.

prole,

I buy physical copies of ps4 games for under $10 pretty regularly. You can find some absurd sales if you know where to look and how to keep an eye out.

prole,

Nintendo used cartridges up until pretty recently… as far as I’m aware, the prices never exceeded $60.

prole,

I’d rather play the release version of a game than no version.

prole, (edited )

One big thing I love about my Steam Deck is the ridiculous amount of control customization available with Steam input.

Worst case, if there’s no option to invert in the game, you can change it in Steam with one click and it’ll remember your settings for each game.

Procedural detective noir Shadows of Doubt adds infidelity investigations next week (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

Shadows of Doubt, the ambitious procedural detective noir sandbox from developer Cole Jefferies, is introducing new cases themed around infidelity on 25th September, as part of its first major update since entering Steam early access in April.

prole,

I haven’t played he new content, but the game is pretty cool and very unique. You create your own little corkboard and yarn type thing to try to solve the (procedurally generated) crime. It’s neat.

Tons of videos of people playing it on YouTube I’m sure. You should check it out.

prole,

Welcome to capitalism.

prole,

Godot has just recently began to gain steam. I don’t think it was a viable option when StS was in development.

prole,

I haven’t played the series since AC2, and I was pretty young so I don’t recall how tough the aiming was, but no I wouldn’t say the way they implement it in this one makes it too easy at all.

If you are set on using the old method, there’s a way to turn it on relatively early in the game. I tried it for a few minutes, and it made the already somewhat difficult game impossible (for me). Your mileage may vary.

That said, the game is an absolute blast to play, I’m enjoying it so much. Even just the movement feels so goddamn good. From Software has done it again. And it’s not too “souls-y” at all imo. The only real From Soft staple I’ve noticed so far is amazingly well designed (and often tough as nails) boss fights.

prole,

It’s fucking fantastic. The movement feels great, and combat makes you feel like a god sometimes with the shit you pull off. The game is a ton of fun.

prole,

Once again, the EU drags the rest of us into modernity kicking and screaming.
