newthrowaway20,

So they aren’t updating the original? Just releasing a new version??

I kinda feel like they’re trying to make me buy the game again.

newthrowaway20,

Oh a 2-year warranty? Not sure how useful that warranty will be if they continue to deny every warranty claim.

newthrowaway20,

Churn is inevitable with any subscription service.

The trick is creating just enough value and exclusive content/services that you feel like you’re gonna miss out if you leave. But not too much.

I haven’t seen any incentive to stay with any specific game subscription service via exclusive content or services. But I do see plenty of attempts to lock people into services with shitty tactics. Like forcing save data to the cloud. Good luck moving that saved file to your own personal copy of the game. Or multiple tiered service options with features/games locked behind more expensive options.

It’s all manipulative and anti consumer.

newthrowaway20,

Sims 4 released in 2014. They had plenty of time to address bugs in-between the millions of stupid updates, but they didn’t bother. Who honestly expects any real work from these guys at this point?

newthrowaway20,

As long as it took to get these games on steam, I’ve completely lost interest.

newthrowaway20,

I could also see a database being used to coordinate game ownership with a fraction of the power usage. But neither will happen because consumers always get the raw end of the deal and nothing will ever be done to their benefit without being forced.

newthrowaway20,

Bold statement. Might wanna hold judgment till you actually see some gameplay.

newthrowaway20,

Yeah I agree.

We don’t know anything yet.

newthrowaway20,

Dual CEOs? I feel like I’ve seen this in a comedy somewhere.

newthrowaway20,

What’s healthy for the business long term isn’t healthy for the customer. Remember that.

newthrowaway20,

This is what happens when we allow gigantic acquisitions.

newthrowaway20,

This poor IP getting dragged through the mud.

newthrowaway20,

Me too, but I’m old. I’m betting age has something to do with this.

newthrowaway20,

it looks like you’d wail on one enemy for 3 minutes until it gives out.

Oh you’ll wail a lot longer than that in some cases. Some of the summon boss fights took like 30~45 mins of wailing. And yes. The RPG elements are non existent, and the side quests are incredibly shallow and boring. You are spot on. No status effects, no elemental affinities, absolutely minimal equipment and weapon systems which amount to basically making a single number go up. It was honestly embarrassing as far as gameplay goes.

newthrowaway20,

If your choices are 16 and 7Remake, go with 7Remake. 16 looks pretty, but the gameplay is honestly extremely shallow.

newthrowaway20,

I guess I don’t mind it. The side quests aren’t the most exciting of activities, but they lead to a lot of great things. Like extra transmuter options, and party level increases for synergy abilities. unique accessories, and unique conversations with party members you wouldn’t see otherwise. Plus some of the best materia is only accessible from chadley. So I haven’t been minding it all that much. As you unlock life springs, you unlock more info about the environments you’re in. For me the rewards outweigh the monotony.

newthrowaway20,

Any idea if this is gonna require a PSN acct? Or is it optional?

newthrowaway20,

The resolution difference is extremely noticeable. I normally prefer a higher frame rate but this image quality drop isn’t worth it.

newthrowaway20,

YES

I only picked the psvr2 up for Gran Turismo, but if I can use it on PC racing games too, that’ll be the bees knees.

newthrowaway20,

The PlayStation 3 had support to install other OS’s, namely Linux. But it was removed after About 4 years with a system update.

newthrowaway20,

And just like that, my interest in either Crazy Taxi or Jet Set Radio evaporates into the ether.

newthrowaway20,

It’s honestly amazing how well this game sold considering how mid the gameplay actually is. Having a popular IP really helped.

newthrowaway20,

I found the combat to be serviceable, and at some points I had fun with it. But it kind of got repetitive really quick. Like once you learn the core mechanics, they didn’t really introduce a lot after that to keep you on your toes. But the main problem I had with the game came from the quests, they just felt so monotonous. I love exploring the castle, but finding every little collectible just felt tedious and didn’t really seem to have any payoff.

All things I hope can be improved with an eventual sequel, I’m definitely glad I picked up the game. But it’s not something I’ve ever considered revisiting once I beat it.

newthrowaway20,

Yeah, the more I saw this game and the more I learned about the story as it went on, the less interested I became. That was pretty much the only thing that was still keeping me interested, but it really looks like the story also falls flat.

newthrowaway20,

Oh that’s a real shame, the Deus Ex games were a lot of fun.

newthrowaway20,

I’ll never buy NG+. If I wanna play it again, I’ll just start over.

newthrowaway20, (edited )

I like how the Yakuza/Like a Dragon is jam packed with mini-games. Sega even puts classic arcade games in it. But I feel like bang for your buck, you’re going to have the most mini games in the Yakuza game than you will in any other game.

newthrowaway20,

So they’re trying to redo the 'tude era.

newthrowaway20,

WWE writing notes I think is half the problem.

newthrowaway20,

I get how it sounds, but I had the exact same situation in it freaking pissed me off to the point where I didn’t bother with any of the other side quests.

When the final upgrade requires you to keep a sword that was weaker than the sword you just got, and you’ve never kept another sword prior to this, it kind of makes sense that you think it’s okay to sell that old sword. Till it turns out you get another quest immediately after saying hey, if you have this old sword you can upgrade it. They could have avoided that whole situation if they just allowed me to buy it back. Or create it again, oh but it uses item quests that are exclusive to prior quests you can’t redo, so you really only get that one chance.

newthrowaway20,

So my assumption about this being a Far Cry on Pandora was pretty much spot on. Sounds like it’s too buggy for its own good too.

newthrowaway20,

Lol yeah I made that mistake the first playthrough.

newthrowaway20,

Honestly, I was interested in this game until the most recent re-release of the Metal Gear Solid games that Konami’s managed to fuck up.

I now 100% expect to see this game get fucked up too. If Konami can’t even handle the most basic of ports, how could we trust them to actually make a good remake of MGS 3 delta, arguably the best of the MGS series?

We shouldn’t trust them. If you have to get this game, pirate it, or pick it up on a deep deep sale way after it launches. Fuck Konami, They don’t deserve your money.

newthrowaway20,

Crouch walking was in the 3ds remake of 3. I fully expect this to be identical to that version and gameplay with no enhancements to anything except the visuals.

newthrowaway20,

I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say it’s amazing. But it’s totally worth this price.

The pacing is all over, and if you hate radio buddies be prepared for a bad time. The story was also really lame. But if you can get through the halfway point, the game really opens up and gets a lot better. Your skill development follows a fun and challenging curve, and fighting hoards of zombies becomes a lot of fun. It just takes so long to get to that part of the game.

newthrowaway20, (edited )

I’ve been playing it, through less than legal means, and honestly to me it feels like a proper sequel to super Mario world. Granted I’m still relatively early in the game, and super Mario world is my all-time favorite Mario game with 3 shortly behind it, but it feels every bit is fun as those games so far. I’m absolutely going to pick it up when it releases.

newthrowaway20,

Personally, I think I would prefer they hold the game back and do whatever patches or updates they need to help with performance, rather than release a game they know is buggy. I guess it’s nice that they’re actually telling us before people buy the game, and they will be releasing updates. But frankly to me this feels like they’re going to be fighting an uphill battle when they launch the game. Plenty of people won’t see this message, and just buy the game expecting it to work, then turn sour due to the poor performance. You could end up with people refunding the game and never coming back with stuff like that.

newthrowaway20,

Okay, I know it’s been a while since I played assassin’s Creed, but I could have sworn the original story of the games was a dude being forced into a VR machine and becoming one of his ancestors?

newthrowaway20,

My thinking exactly. He’s just giving the board what they want, and continuing to do so by taking the fall.

newthrowaway20,

I was thinking the same thing. It gets difficult to keep track of all the sexual abuse allegations between game studios.

newthrowaway20,

Honestly this is the first I even heard of this game.

newthrowaway20,

It is baffling why Sony thinks studios who are known for their single player story driven games will all the sudden be rock stars at GAAS model games. No matter how it turns out, you’ve already got a dedicated fan base for these companies expecting a single player story driven game. These types of gamers have no interest whatsoever in micro transaction riddled online experiences. And by diverting developers away from single player content towards GAAS content, they’ll make worse single player games and half hearted multiplayer online games.

newthrowaway20,

I know it sucked, but I hate the idea of a game being gone forever.
