I’ve been PC gaming for coming up to 40 years now and I can say it’s always been like this. It’s just what it is. The new games require huge amounts of hardware and that’s okay.

They’re pushing the envelope and you might not be able to play it yet, but one day you’ll be playing it on your phone, or on your toothbrush.

I’m actually impressed. I used to use animation: master back in the day when Jeff was creating the original videos.

To see it moved to a technically challenging (to create) game of this standard, is a HUGE amount of work. Well done. Can wait to play it

That pretty much exactly matches my timeline of my last purchase. I had no idea they were purchased and they did turn to shit and now I can see why.

I’d say this is the perfect time to start a really regular and dedicated games review site. They have to start somewhere and if you’re trusted and good then you’ll get a following.

I know a guy that sold his studio to Microsoft personally. He’s been living a very nice life now, quite a long time after the sale.

He took the gamble. Made the risks. Exposed himself financially. It paid off.

Like any small business, you hope for a payout. Most won’t get one, so you take it when it comes.

Is there a good, modern, open source version that runs on phones about?

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I’m refusing to watch it on principal. The thumbnail represents everything wrong with the internet.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I just can’t. There are games I can play. Games I can’t.

I can get a free gforce? And I have to watch ads in exchange? No? So there’s no free users.

makingStuffForFun,

Oh, so it’s a streaming gaming service? Where you don’t need a gforce card?

Pokemon is famous for being the first game to employ child psychologists in its development Team, to analyse what young boys like the most, and to feed that to them.

You my friend, are playing, due to corporate manipulation, when you were young, which triggered all the things in you, they wanted to trigger.

Dark, but true. I’ll try and find a source on this later when I have some time.

It absolutely is perfect to play, as they manipulate using their knowledge of character traits of boys, to give them exactly what they want. Pokemon tastes better than any other game to a young boy. It’s all science.

It’s similar to how gambling companies design games to meet their target audience. Triggering endorphins at the right time, to encourage more usage.

Good or bad, that’s a whole separate debate. However, it’s scientifically designed to manipulate based on desires of that demographic.

I’m talking about the original games. The made a game driven by child psychologists, based on what 12 year old boys love. Collecting things, and winning / dominating. They succeeded. The game has been wildly popular. The franchise continues of course, and with age will go through many ups and downs, but the base psychology still remains.

I don’t assume anything. I’m discussing the developers, and how they designed it.

The game has been wildly popular. The franchise continues of course, and with age will go through many ups and downs, but the base psychology still remains.

This is just fact. I’ll try and dig up some sources. It’s been a long time since #1 was released, but I’m sure there’s still some info out there on the original development.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

You linked to the director, not the psychologists they onboarded for the project.

I use dex a fair bit. It’s good, but strangely, with all they’ve spent on it, keyboard shortcuts are missing for a lot of things.

GTA 6’s Publisher Says Video Games Should Theoretically Be Priced At Dollars Per Hour (www.forbes.com) angielski

While Take-Two is riding high on their announcement that a GTA 6 trailer is coming, its CEO has some…interesting ideas on how much video games could cost, part of a contingent of executives that believe games are underpriced, given their cost, length or some combination of the two.

Literally just made it to the shop keeper after defeating the slime boss. It’s a hell of a game. Maybe one of the best.

What is some very predatory, sneaky and popular among children game?

I’ll be doing a workshop in a few weeks, and I wanna raise awareness about predatory lootbox paytowin games. I wanna play live, an easy to start playing and understand game, that is so sneaky and predatory that some kid would very easily buy some microtransaction or lootbox without even realizing what they just did....

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Why not a video of it instead? Easy, predictable, can use many games that way

It’s called Godot. It is basically on its path to becoming the Blender of game engines.

That was correct about maybe 5 + years ago. However, particularly the latest 4.x builds, the 3d is top shelf. It won’t beat unreal, but it’s 3d capabilities are better than most people’s ability to use them.

makingStuffForFun,

Definitely not, they’re huge. They even purchased Weta digital recently (lord of the rings animation company). The’re going nowhere fast. They’re just eeking every little cent they can out of every little crevice of their offerings.

Not counting games that were unfun because of bugs, what’s the most unfun video game that you’ve played and what made it unfun? (kbin.cafe) angielski

Most of the video games I’ve played were pretty good. The only one I can think of that I didn’t like was MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo DS. Dropped that pretty quickly. It was a long while ago, but I’ll guess it was because there were too many fetch quests and annoying controls.

Exactly. When I watch pirates I watch so much Monkey Island it’s not funny.

I walked past my niece watching it the other day, and there was governor phat, right there on screen. Except it was the king. But it was governor phat.

The dog with the key. The voodoo woman, etc etc etc etc
