Would it work well on a retroid pocket 5, do you think? I’d happily buy it if so.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

That’s good enough for me. Thank you so much for the feedback. I’ll take the gamble. The game looks right up my alley

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh. May I ask your thoughts on the screen size, with this game?

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Thank you so much. That is my concern. However, I’m willing to give it a try as I can still play it on PC. Thanks again for your feedback.

Thank you. Much appreciated

We’re all different and enjoy different things. How about congratulating someone for making some content on a topic they care about.

“Only” 12 years. FFS. “Journalism” is a joke.

Civ 5 was great for this. Me and another old fart in our 40s played it against each other.

makingStuffForFun,

Wait a second. I’ve just woken up, to what’s happening here!

makingStuffForFun,

I have no time for such things.

That screen shot is gold. Gaming on Linux is dead to me. Thanks for sharing. It should all be public.

Sid Meier's Pirates, and everyone else in the game, are aware of the date... (lemmy.sdf.org)

I recently started a game of Pirates! When I sat down to play today, the pirates were no longer the only ones spicing up their speech with arrs and ahoys. The merchants were doing it. The military were doing it. The nobles were doing it (awkwardly). The barmaids were doing it. Even the user interface was doing it....

I could have sailed and sailed and sailed. Lived it. Loved it.

Never knew about the Easter egg. Nice find!

We’ve all moved on to Godot.

Thank the gods for Godot, because without it, everyone would have been screwed.

If I were to lose 25% of my profits to a price hike, our business would suffer. As would all of us in the business. The stress would be real.

To those businesses that can absorb a 25% increase, and the staff are not hurt, and be OK that’s great.

The paywall in open source business apps is infuriating. I’d rather they just go full commercial.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

And exclusive titles is an asshole move to force users to buy a whole platform for a single game. It’s anti competitive. It’s anti consumer. It should be illegal.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I agree. Stunning. It’s not for everyone, but, those who can appreciate the slow, beautiful, revealing beauty and enjoy taking their time, this game is as good as it gets.

Those that mash buttons to skip cutscenes, may as well give it a miss and try something else

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

The Steam Deck was literally designed as a proof of concept to try and bootstrap the industry. This device is not competition, this device is exactly what Valve are hoping for, and obviously many others like it. Valve want to sell games and so therefore they want hardware manufacturers to create more devices that they can sell more games on. They also want to do it free of Microsoft’s tendrils and their control.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

Talk about juxtaposition. What a total asshole.

I quite like a good ps4 controller

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I have and it was amazing but I don’t own one and I’ve never used it as a controller on the Linux PC.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I’ve been PC gaming for coming up to 40 years now and I can say it’s always been like this. It’s just what it is. The new games require huge amounts of hardware and that’s okay.

They’re pushing the envelope and you might not be able to play it yet, but one day you’ll be playing it on your phone, or on your toothbrush.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I’m actually impressed. I used to use animation: master back in the day when Jeff was creating the original videos.

To see it moved to a technically challenging (to create) game of this standard, is a HUGE amount of work. Well done. Can wait to play it

That pretty much exactly matches my timeline of my last purchase. I had no idea they were purchased and they did turn to shit and now I can see why.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

I’d say this is the perfect time to start a really regular and dedicated games review site. They have to start somewhere and if you’re trusted and good then you’ll get a following.

I know a guy that sold his studio to Microsoft personally. He’s been living a very nice life now, quite a long time after the sale.

He took the gamble. Made the risks. Exposed himself financially. It paid off.

Like any small business, you hope for a payout. Most won’t get one, so you take it when it comes.

Is there a good, modern, open source version that runs on phones about?

makingStuffForFun,

I’m refusing to watch it on principal. The thumbnail represents everything wrong with the internet.

I just can’t. There are games I can play. Games I can’t.

I can get a free gforce? And I have to watch ads in exchange? No? So there’s no free users.

Oh, so it’s a streaming gaming service? Where you don’t need a gforce card?

I’m talking about the original games. The made a game driven by child psychologists, based on what 12 year old boys love. Collecting things, and winning / dominating. They succeeded. The game has been wildly popular. The franchise continues of course, and with age will go through many ups and downs, but the base psychology still remains.

I don’t assume anything. I’m discussing the developers, and how they designed it.

I’m talking about the original games. The first ever game driven by child psychologists, based on what 12 year old boys love. Collecting things, and winning / dominating. They succeeded. The game has been wildly popular. The franchise continues of course, and with age will go through many ups and downs, but the base psychology still remains.

This is just fact. I’ll try and dig up some sources. It’s been a long time since #1 was released, but I’m sure there’s still some info out there on the original development.

makingStuffForFun,
@makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml avatar

You linked to the director, not the psychologists they onboarded for the project.
