I love how they are not directly taking the piss out of the quote, but going out of their way to show how there’s a vastly different meaning behind what he’s saying in opposition to what he intended.
You know, in layterms, he doesn’t fucking know the words that come out of his mouth.
Just had the following email from GOG about account migration for CD Projekt Red games, not quite sure what to make of it. Don’t CDPR own GOG? Why do they need to be separated? What does this mean for the long term future of the services?...
I played the closed beta. For 20min. I couldn’t continue because it felt so incredibly boring. Insanely uninspired. Even Blackwake, the buggy mess with the simplest game loop was more interesting.
I’m on a streak where I only go fishing whenever the game supports that. Far Cry? Time to learn the mechanics. Minecraft? How about building a restaurant at the ocean and then bringing in the food. Some obscure casual game? You know it baby.
Oh most definitely. I play this one together with a friend occasionally and he always helps prepare for the bosses while I mainly just fish. 4.5/5 really good fishing game. Enjoyed the loot.
I’ve played the last two games of that series and even for someone who is up for the grind, it just felt lifeless and uninspired. No need to play it anymore.
Have you been spending hours trying to pass a level? Or maybe you are completely addicted to a newly bought game. Do you have a question about a game or would like to share something else? In the Weekly Discussion Thread, you can do it all!...
One of the big winners of the Unity debacle is the free and open source Godot Engine, which has seen its funding soar to a much more impressive level as Unity basically gave them free advertising.
I mean you definitely got a point, but don’t forget that there are long term consequences. The trust is completely gone (which is needed if you invest in this game engine and you will probably see the unity market share drop in the coming year.
Idk why everyone is like “well Reddit won and we’re just on Lemmy because we’re nerds and no one believes in FOSS anyway”. Yes, I get you, there’s currently not much consequence visible for the Reddit debacle. I genuinely think we’re in the middle of a slow and painful death to Reddit. A lot of big companies don’t implode, but they die slowly in front of their competition. Yeah, currently we only are a fraction of users compared to Reddit, but if people truly believe in Lemmy as the better platform, this will be competition.
I hope unity’s shareholders are happy with what they hoped for. This is the result of driving a company too far. Let’s makes this a guideline to follow for other companies not to make such shady decisions.
It becomes more appearent with every new instance of protest that there’s something equally valuable for a company as money, and that is community trust. Because losing it can stop growth. I love the new layer of accountability we obtained with the internet.
Sidenote, I have a feeling that’s straight up illegal under contract law. IANAL though.
Edit: Just so ppl have something specific: you bought access to the service. It’s probably gonna be limited in the User Agreement as “if this service has to be shut down, you agree to lose your access and you don’t sue to get your money back”. But this is a backend migration and I’m fairly sure this is not something they had in their original contracts. That’s why sniff a broken contract and when they don’t refund your money, I sniff broken laws.
