catloaf,

Yeah. Games are all digital downloads these days. And consoles and accessories are cheaper and easier to get online. There’s no point in physical video game stores any more.

Personally, I just want Radio Shack back, and not just the cell phone and crappy toy store.

catloaf,

If you’re going to order bottom of the barrel pizza, why not get Domino’s? It’s the same grade, but also better.

catloaf,

Probably because looking around a room doesn’t make a good trailer.

catloaf,

Yeah, this looks a bit like LttP HD and ALBW. At least from the stills; I haven’t watched the videos yet.

catloaf,

Not only that, but if the mission costs $7 but you can only buy in increments of $10, that’s $3 free money.

catloaf,

They haven’t learned from Oblivion, Skyrim, or Fallout 4. Probably others.

Or really, they learned they can just keep releasing games on a hacked-up Morrowind engine, and make huge piles of money. So that’s what they’ll keep doing.

catloaf,

Doom 3 is fun on its own, but it’s more like Resident Evil than Doom, maybe. More plot, more scare-horror, less run-and-gun.

It definitely needs the duct tape mod, though. I know what they were going for, but it just doesn’t work.

catloaf,

And OP posted twenty fucking seven trailers in less than two hours. That’s positively excessive. Trailers are one of the least useful types of content here in the first place, but to fill everyone’s feed with them is completely unnecessary.

catloaf,

Agreed. I wanted to like it, I really did. But it just wasn’t fun.

catloaf,

*turbonerdery

It took me way too long to parse that word with the typo.

catloaf,

When you beat someone 1v1, you get to keep their PC.

I have a level that is a tribute to The Stanley Parable in my game, here is my progress. Any feedback? (lemmy.world) angielski

My game is called Do Not Press The Button (To Delete The Multiverse) and in it I have a multiverse called A Universe Where This Game Was Made By People With Actual talent and it’s a “What If” the Crow Crows Crows guy made my game. I think it’s turning out good. What do you think? Here is my Steam Page

catloaf,

All games are more often than not a miss than a hit.

catloaf,

Hmm. I liked 2016 because you could play it however you wanted. Eternal was too arcadey. I hope this one isn’t.

catloaf,

I don’t think people are playing Kirby games expecting Dolby surround sound anyway, so this seems like it’d be a pretty easy decision.

catloaf,

Marketing. If people think Dolby is good, they will prefer products with Dolby compatibility, and Dolby makes money from that licensing.

catloaf,

You can’t “just start” a class action suit. You need to sue, get other people to sue, coordinate, and apply for class action status. That’s more time and effort than an individual suit.

catloaf,

That’s not the fault of OP, that’s Lemmy mangling the preview.

Perfect Dark Reboot Is Allegedly In Bad Shape (www.gamespot.com) angielski

I don’t think big companies know how to make a good FPS campaign anymore, let alone hone in on classic deathmatch multiplayer. The last FPS I bought was Half-Life: Alyx four years ago, and the first one to come along and interest me since then was Phantom Fury, but I’m letting that one iron out bugs for a few weeks before I...

catloaf,

You assume it’s being properly staffed, funded, and managed.

catloaf,

Cool but most indie devs don’t have the capital to fund the development. They want to make those games, but they have to partner with publishers so they can afford to buy stuff like food and rent while developing before they make any sales.

catloaf,

That would probably be trademark, not copyright.

catloaf,

They already have this data to improve the game. They basically have a DM watching everything and managing play. This is just for Sony.

catloaf,

I’m sure they don’t.

catloaf,

I’m sure they do. I mean this is for Sony to pad their numbers for active paying accounts.

catloaf,

I’ve never played BG3 but I do play D&D and yeah that sounds about right for eldritch blast

catloaf,

I think it’s because the fantasy atmosphere of TES gives more leeway for the Bethesda jank. At least that’s what it is for me.

catloaf,

3 New 3 Vegas

catloaf,

How did you remaster them?

catloaf,

Does Lemmy let you distinguish mod posts now? Neat.

Does wb get any money from sales of adult swim published games on steam? angielski

I have an urge to buy some of them on steam before they get delisted but don’t want to give any money to wb in the process. The way that apparently devs could just leave or sell/give away the game on other platforms made me think maybe wb doesn’t get a cut of every sale. Does anyone know that for certain?

catloaf,

I would be surprised if they didn’t.

catloaf,

Yeah but we’re not talking about trademarks here

catloaf,

The next-gen update includes native applications for the consoles, Performance mode and Quality mode settings, as well as stability improvements and fixes. This means the game will be playable up to 60 frames per second and with an increased resolution.

Really stretching the definition of “next-gen” there. I’m pretty sure those have been standard for years now. But then it is Bethesda we’re talking about, still using the same hacked-up engine from Morrowind.

catloaf,

Yes, but generally it’s far less profitable.

catloaf,

Yeah, that quote is from before you could push updates whenever you wanted. It used to be that you put it on a cartridge or disc, and that was it.

You could make changes as you did more pressings or for different regions, but the ones already pressed were immutable.

catloaf,

Legally, they have to, until they get a counter-notice (or realize it’s fake).

catloaf,

I’m not surprised. For anyone using someone else’s material without permission, it’s just a matter of time.

catloaf,

BOINC came out 21 years ago, so it wouldn’t be that unreasonable.

catloaf,

It’ll either be janky Linux or cracked Windows, on an off-the-shelf Chinese board in a cheap case with joysticks that barely work.

catloaf,

Hot take: one game shouldn’t be allowed to win multiple categories.

  • catloaf,

There is git lfs as mentioned, and other systems like perforce support binaries too, but generally assets like those aren’t under the same kind of version control because they don’t change as frequently, aren’t worked on by multiple people, and can’t be diffed.

    catloaf,

I skimmed the article but I’m still not sure what the “bomb” is supposed to be.

    catloaf,

This feels like something either from Obvious Plant or Cinco.
