Zorque,

They're basically online loyalty accounts like you'd have at retail stores.

Zorque,

"A lot" is an interesting descriptor, especially when comparing loud easily defined groups with quieter more subtle groups.

Its the difference between those animals that puff themselves out to five times their normal size and those that prefer not to be seen at all. Are there a significant portion of the first as compared to the second, just because you see them more blatantly?

Zorque,

I'm sure they can churn out a bunch more half-finished board game and game show adaptations.

Zorque,

More importantly, the system we all accept (willingly or not) requires that people be employed to survive.

It's not a matter of wanting to be employed, as needing to be employed.

Zorque,

Maybe they have one of the shitty adblockers for some reason.

Zorque,

It is like No Man's Sky in that most people who weren't fanatical about saying it had a huge turn around stopped caring about it after a year or so.

Zorque,

There were lots of factors in Anakin's fall. His early life as a slave, being separated from his only family, being brought up in the ranks of a religious bureaucracy that forces their members to shove down any and all emotion just to be a part, the constant psychic pressure from Palpatine, his relationship with Padme is just the final straw. The wedge that Palpatine uses to push him to the dark side.

Zorque,

That assumes they'll actually fix the game breaking bugs and system compatibility issues.

Zorque,

It's got about as much gameplay as most hack n' slash action games or FPSes where you spend the entire game spamming the same buttons over and over again.

And a hell of a lot more story.

Zorque,

That would require that office workers unionize. Which, while hopefully being more common nowadays, is still seen as antithetical to most office workers.

Zorque,

So calling it a dip is basically assuming something that is not yet proven true, while calling it a drop is merely stating what has happened so far.

Zorque,

We had that, Mario 3, and Marble Madness. I never got more than a few levels into any of them.

FF7 Rebirth demo likely releasing today (www.ign.com) angielski

It seems that a demo is indeed coming imminently. As spotted by Wario64 on X/Twitter, a trailer for a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo can currently be seen on the Explore tab on the US PSN. This trailer appears on the US PSN for now, but has not appeared in other territories at this time. This trailer appears on the US PSN for...

Zorque,

If it keeps making them money, why wouldn't they?

Whether or not we dislike the decisions doesn't really factor in.

Zorque,

Licensing and making games probably costs more than the revenue from subscriptions, would be my guess.

Zorque,

Don't forget Dances With Wolves! That's another one it's similar to.

Zorque,

First one was an okay movie, second one was basically a screensaver that was sometimes annoyingly interrupted by explosions.

What's your favorite game that you will NEVER finish? angielski

This question popped into my head when I was playing Void Stranger. I just got done with the game and will probably never play it again despite not finishing it. The game is genuinely amazing but it just gets so demanding as you progress through it. I ended up watching the second half of the game on YouTube....

Zorque,

Every open world RPG I've ever played. I still, to this day, have never finished a Final Fantasy game. I think the closest is getting to max level in FF14

Zorque,

Welcome to popularity contests. They are awarded irrespective of skill or effort, only if they hit the right buttons to the masses.

Zorque,

Generally the only games that are de facto exclusive to Nintendo are the ones they make themselves or those that choose to stay on Nintendo (I haven't heard of exclusivity deals, but I won't discount the possibility).

A better comparison might be Sony with Playstation (and maybe Microsoft with Xbox, though I haven't heard of as much from them on that) paying for exclusivity for a limited time.

Epic, on the other hand decided, at least at the start, to buy out almost finished games (some of which even had pre-orders on other storefronts) to have on their platform for at least a year. Then decided to try and play the victim, claiming that they had to do it to gain market share. Then claimed they were morally superior because they didn't charge as much to publishers for putting games on their storefront. While also charging just as much for the games to the consumers.

Zorque,

They invented Denuvo?

Zorque,

... and OP is asking for perspective so they can make their own decision.

Zorque,

... right. And it's also considered one of the premier "evil" DRMs.

So I ask again... they invented Denuvo?

Zorque,

Everyone who doesn't let Timmy do whatever he wants is a bully. Clearly. From Steam to Google.

Zorque,

Lately? You haven't been paying attention.

Zorque,

It's not a redemption arc, it's a people forgetting it exists except for those who want mediocre resource accumulation simulators.

Zorque,

But what about the Steam Deck 2 version 2?

Zorque,

They made a comment about general SNES RPGS, not Chrono Trigger specifically. Unless they edited it, I don't know if the fediverse has edit warnings for some instances.

Zorque,

Which is fair, most people tend to exaggerate on the internet. But the average does seem to be around double (or more) of SMRPG, and while that's not a metric you seem to care about, it is one that others care about.

Can you at least agree that it's short for it's genre/platform? Even if it's not by the hyperbolic degree one person has thus far stated?

Zorque,

It does take time, but when you launch a product that's missing basic features (like a shopping cart, something almost every online store in existence has) you tell on yourself to your customers, and let them know they're not a priority.

I don't disagree that Steam's feature rich platform makes it hard to compete with on that level... but for fuck's sake, at least try a little bit. Especially if your first move is to say they're unfairly gaming the market by... providing something people want.

Zorque,

Or you're just really bad at detecting obvious sarcasm.

Zorque,

They don't want to dig into the spaghetti code to make it work.

And considering the lukewarm response to the shitty San Andreas port, they probably don't want to risk more bad publicity by farming it out to the lowest bidder... again.

Zorque,

Time is the only finite resource, why waste yours if someone's already made the investment?

Zorque,

Isn't that just saying you can't sell access to a game on steam (through a steam key) for a lower price than what's on Steam? It's not like they can't just offer a lower price... just that they can't offer it for a lower price bundled with Steam access.

So they can offer a lower price, just not as a third party through Steam itself.

Zorque,

Could be secondhand key resellers who have no deals with Steam regarding sales.

Zorque,

One can have a monopoly without directly trying for it. Especially when it comes to services with a lot infrastructure involved. Once you make those investments, it's hard for anyone to compete against them.

A monopoly just means you control a significant amount of the market. I think, technically, they would fall under oligopoly. Where a few businesses have control of the market instead of just a single business. But the point is they have a far larger share of the market than most others. This is mostly because they create a product that people want to use, instead of making a service that unfairly captures the market through things like game exclusivity or hostile takeovers.

Zorque,

Probably more than a public company, that has to pay dividends and prove worth every quarter.

Zorque,

And yet they charge the same amount...

Seems they use that as a way to get developers to join them, then guilt consumers into using their less useful platform.

Zorque,

Looks like it was a console exclusive before it released on Steam, if you're talking about Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (which is the only one I can find by that name).

Do you have more information about the release? Or perhaps it's a different game?

Zorque,

That would be helpful if they actually tried to be competitive on the same level.

Unfortunately they're only competing for profit, not as a service. Which is why they're failing.

Competition bettering service only works if people want to compete to create a better service. That clearly isn't the case.

Zorque,

That "bloat" is 99% of the reason people use it.

Zorque,

Of course you can, just not steam keys.

Zorque,

It's a great time waster, but as far as interesting and engaging gameplay? I'm pretty sure minesweeper still has it beat in that department.

The Stone Breaks On Gargoyles Remastered Next Month (www.gameinformer.com) angielski

One of the most succinct yet exciting announcements from last year’s D23 Expo was Gargoyles Remastered, a modernized facelift of the classic (and challenging) side-scrolling Sega Genesis title based on the popular ‘90s cartoon. A new trailer revealed the game’s new presentation and an October release date....

Zorque, (edited )

What, The Goliath Chronicles wasn't good enough for you?

JK, I know it wasn't.

Legendary PC developer says Denuvo is “a punishment to the consumer” (www.pcgamesn.com) angielski

Quote from the article: “The inclusion of intrusive DRM softwares [sic] like Denuvo is a choice that yields an unfair punishment on the consumer,” Running With Scissors says. “Respect the consumer, make a game they want to play, and you will never feel the need to fight piracy. The gaming industry deserves a better future,...

Zorque,

People who agree with their stance on DRM.

Theres a definite trend of people elevating the value of opinions of those they agree with. It makes any kind of intelligent discourse very hard to do.
