You’d still need to keep your eyes locked dead centre of the screen while you move for that. To each their own though. Natural movement and tracking is a game changer

Very hyped for the steam frame but not optimistic with the ram prices and subsequent shortage of every other pc part due to AI.

I wonder how powerful the Steam Frame will be. I’ve got a steam deck and I understand it will probably be similar in power. Wonder how it will handle pc racing games.

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Ive got pretty decent vr legs and I experienced some nausea after about 30km of rally racing (around a half hour). Went away after a few minutes. I’ve got a very strong pc so there was zero lag and it was buttery smooth but the nausea still happened 🥴

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Haha I got my Oculus Rift CV1 in 2016. It absolutely blew my mind in Elite Dangerous, when all the building sized ships ACTUALLY were building sized.

VR has come a long way since then.

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ll have to check it out! I’ve seen it around but haven’t heard much about it :)

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Ya so I’d need to use my desktop for any vr games

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Oof I played that in 2D and it was bonkers. There’s no way I’m trying it in vr haha

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Ya I can’t imagine an ARM processors going to push that much power. I’m surprised with the meta quest 3s though. That’s what I’m currently using

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Oh yes! Elite Dangerous, XPlane 12 (and 11), VTOLVR, Aerofly FS4 are all the flying games I play in VR. It’s incredible.

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Fast motion where it’s in my peripheral vision as well as primary field of view gives me nausea even with pretty strong VR legs.

Sometimes games (and headsets) will have a comfort mode which adds a vignette around the peripheral vision when there’s high movement. That usually helps lower motion sickness.

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Sadly I don’t :( it sounds cool though

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

I’ve been thinking of getting one! I have a force feedback airbus flight stick and it vibrates on take off or when I deploy flaps for approach and landing. Very very cool

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

My understanding is that it can run apks which is what the meta headsets are running

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

First person shooters are crazy. I love Onward and Pavlov for that. Actually aiming, crouching down, and physically reloading are things I can never go back from

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Ah I see okay. I have Waydroid on my laptop and it works fairly well. Haven’t tried gaming on it though. Not a lot of standard Android games I want to play on my laptop haha

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

I know the Meta Quest 3 and 3s have this feature built in. For PCVR with other headsets, often games have this feature built in. Usually it’s called “comfort mode” or something similar. It’s a standard in VR UX.

The most expensive game I own is Baldurs Gate 3 (@ $70 CAD) and it’s the only game that was worth full price in my 12 years of activity on steam and over 250 games purchased. My next most expensive game was $30 CAD and I only bought a few games that high.

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Ive played a lot of similar games and other games since it came out. I still think about this game.

Last night I tried doing the Corruption and Conscience quest in Cheydenhall and got to the very end.

It told me to wait 2 hours before meeting a dude at a tavern. I waited 2 hours and the dude never showed up. Turns out you’re supposed to wait in front of the tavern and not right next to him. Totally bugged, can’t complete it.

I looked it up and used a console command which reset his character and allowed me to finish the quest but at the expense of any and all future achievements (since using a single console command removes steam achievements).

Had to decide if quest completion or achievements were more important to me. Sucks.

Th game was fantastic. I might redownload it and play it again. Wingsuit, driving, killing religious Americans. What’s not to love?

Do you have any recommendations for casual games? angielski

After starting work, I feel so tired every day, so I just want to play some casual games. Recently, I’m playing survivor-like games like Vampire Survivors and Darkchaser. They’re simple and fun, but after a while, they get a bit boring. So, I’m looking for other casual game recommendations, preferably single-player games...

World of Warcraft still exists in 2024. If you want a functional flight simulator that doesn’t require you constantly online , try out XPlane or Aerofly FS4. These games will work even if Microsoft puts out another steaming pile of shit in the next 4 years.

PerogiBoi,

XPlane 12 and Aerofly FS4. They don’t need always on internet and the loading times are measured in seconds, not tens of minutes+

Been playing this game for weeks. I completed it and then started a new game. The game’s story is excellent, but it absolutely does not justify the tedium it makes you endure to experience it. If you ever boot into desktop mode they’re essential (at least in my use case). Using thumb sticks for a mouse is so painful.

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

So you bring an external mouse with your steamdeck? If that works for ya, more power to you.

Sometimes I need to pop quickly into the desktop so for my use case, bringing an external mouse would definitely inconvenience me. That’s when the trackpads come in handy.

Random Screenshots of my Games #45 - Subnautica (lemmy.world) angielski

I think Subnautica was the first crafting game I ever played, and I didn’t really understand the genre, so I found it frustrating and slow. I prefer my games to have an ongoing story, and this… didn’t. Not to say there isn’t a story here, it just takes a backseat to the gameplay, which is exploring and crafting....

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

I agree with you. The pace of crafting to progress is slow. The story forces you to uncover it by exploring further and deeper. The distress calls nudge you in the right directions.

My last playthrough I was determined to beat the game. It took 50 hours and at the end I got frustrated because just when I thought I was at the end, they wanted me to grind even more for some hard to craft materials which would require me to dive far and deep and look for things while things were dangerous.

Exhausted, I used a single console command to give myself the thing I didn’t want to grind for and bam. Completed. The games a marathon. It’s entertaining, scary, interesting, and tedious. I’m not interested in any sequels.

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Baldurs Gate. There is so much content. I’m 150 hours in the game, I play split screen coop with my wife. We each have our characters customized to how we like it. It’s AAA quality. Came at a AAA price, but it’s absolutely worth it.

And I say this as a FPS/simulation gamer. Totally different genre but they’ve made this game accessible to all. It’s the only game I’ve ever purchased at full price and my steam account is 12 years old.

PerogiBoi,
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Also don’t buy this because like the previous flight simulator, they will restrict you to slow Microsoft servers so your first 150 hours in-game will actually just be downloading additional content at whatever speed Microsoft has limited their servers. 5MBPs? Maybe sometimes!
