Artyom,

People in their 20s are familiar will Splinter Cell classics like Splinter Cell Conviction.

Artyom,

My favorite part was the Afghanistan level.

Disney Said to be Considering a Surprising Replacement for Bob Iger: EA CEO Andrew Wilson - IGN (www.ign.com) angielski

Andrew Wilson is reportedly being considered for Disney's top job. It's a big move in the entertainment world, with potential ramifications for fans of Pixar and Marvel as well as The Sims, Battlefield, and Dragon Age

Artyom,

I believe Disney remembered the important part of the story; everyone still somehow managed to get rich at our expense.

Phil Spencer Confirms Xbox is Planning an Xbox Handheld, But It's a Few Years Away (insider-gaming.com) angielski

What Microsoft has been saying about Xbox lately strongly implies that this is a Windows handheld designed to solve software and user experience problems with using current Windows handhelds. And signs are pointing toward the next Xbox console coming sooner than the next PlayStation and essentially being a PC running a console...

Artyom,

It’ll [attempt] to make Windows less of a hinderance on THEIR handheld. If all these other Windows-based devices are now rivals, why let them benefit from hard work when you can force them out?

Artyom,

Literally 12 hours too late. I just started playing The Finals today and I’m never going back.

I don't think it's possible for me to complete this Steam achievement angielski

The Steam achievement in Darkchaser is quite interesting—one of them requires you to travel the distance equivalent to circling the Earth once, and another requires the distance from the Earth to the Moon. However, I still want to complain: is anyone actually able to complete this? I know it’s a game that requires you to run...

Artyom,

My money’s on stick binding and leaving it for days.

Artyom,

If you want to sell a new IP, “From the creators of Day Z” is not a good angle to start with

Are any games using neural networks for better hard AI that doesn't cheat? angielski

Playing complex strategy games for many years, one of the things that irks me the most is that hard AI levels often just give the dumb AI cheats to simulate it being smarter. To me, it’s not very satisfying to go against cheating AI. Are any games today leveraging neural networks to supplant or augment hand-written decision...

Artyom,

Chess has been using neural networks for their AIs way before it was cool. Different AI skills are usually just trained to different depths.

‘Unknown 9: Awakening’ Arrives To 200 Steam Players, Poor Reviews (www.forbes.com) angielski

You can’t really gauge its Steam reviews because there are only 13(!) total so far, reflective of a game that has launched with just a few hundred players. 224, as I’m writing this article. Sub-Concord levels. Yes. Concord is a unit of measurement now....

Artyom,

Just got this for free with my new GPU. This game runs like (and looks like) shit. The 2012 Tomb Raider reboot literally looks better with very similar mechanics and runs at a higher frame rate all while using 1/10th as much hardware.

Whenever I turn a corner, my whole system freezes for a few seconds, and this is a near top of the line system. Characters look super robotic, and the special superpowers look like they’re running at 144p resolution.

Artyom,

Sounds civilized and competitive.

Horse archers ruin every game they are in. angielski

Who the hell finds it fun to either waste time trying to lure them into a trap or chase them down? And it’s so much worse against ai because they don’t need to micro manage the way humans have to so it seems whenever I use them they get wrecked under the first half assed volly from any unit. This applies to literally any...

Artyom,

Um…archers on chariots were almost certainly extremely effective in any era they appeared. The main reason they stopped being popular in combat was because horses became big enough to ride after thousands of years of breeding.

Artyom,

H for Hollow Knight, I think that pretty much settles it…

Artyom,

We’re on the verge of getting comprehensive PC-style graphics settings in consoles. They made a $700 console because they’re realizing there’s a wealthier demographic out there that buys more games anyways. The whole point of buying a console over a PC is that you get a solid guarantee games will run well.

Artyom,

When I read the post title, I figured it was gonna be some joke youtuber fan-made trailer cuz no studio would be that dumb.

Artyom,

I can’t even remember the last time I saw an open world game where thr main character instantly drowns in water.

Artyom,

Reboot Doomguy hasn’t been a space marine for almost a decade now. He’s always been a Titan sent by gods.

Artyom, (edited )

It’s actually very possible to miss the message of Bioshock. Andrew Ryan built the perfect city and Atlas ruined it. Andrew Ryan cast him out, but Atlas brought the player character as his final ultimate weapon. You eventually rebel, saving the capitalist Utopia.

I have seen people who abided by this interpretation. Any art with any level of subtlety can be misinterpreted. It’s inherently subjective and depends on the viewer’s personal biases.

Artyom,

I always knew that games had units of lbs/yrs. Why don’t game devs ever put it on their box art tho?

Artyom,

It must be a REALLY good game. Only the best games that were already going to get high reviews would ever resort to such a policy

Artyom,

Same. I was thinking about getting it, but the kernel level anti-cheat is a no go, but then I found out on Linux they don’t have a kernel-level anti cheat, so then I was thinking about it again. No way they’ll ever get me to make a PlayStation account, I left consoles for a reason.

andrew, do games angielski

Artyom,

And also the games are running via wine cuz Steam is doing what Microsoft couldn’t for decades.

Artyom,

There was a lot of stuff that would have been pretty simple to keep in that Counter Strike 2 cut. For example, an extra 80 frames per second.

Artyom,

A complete downgrade from Doom 2016 in every way. Combat was complete madness, there’s no such thing as planning ahead. You can only endlessly dash away while insta-swapping weapons ad infinitum.

Doom 2016 made you think. Is this glory kill to risky? Is the gap wide enough to make it through, who do I have to kill first? Doom Eternal reduced that to a single repetitive four button loop.

Artyom,

I’m all for improving consumer rights in the videogame industry, but I’m more than a little amazed anyone’s willing to put up a fight for The Crew of all things.

Artyom,

2h of playtime within 2 weeks for a no questions asked refund. A 6 year old game with 0 hours may get a refund once, but Steam will start refusing refunds after that.

Are we living in a baby universe that looks like a black hole to outsiders? (lemmy.sdf.org) angielski

Our Universe appears to be expanding and cooling, having originated some 13.8 billion years ago in a hot Big Bang. However, it’s plausible that what we see from inside our Universe is simply the result of being inside a black hole that formed from some parent Universe. If the black holes that form in our cosmos give birth to...

Artyom,

I used to think this idea was kinda silly and based on flimsy and handwavey justification, but then I saw a colloquium by a famous black hole physicist on it. Now I REALLY think this idea is silly and made up!

Artyom,

Sounds like the system is working as designed

Artyom,

Honestly not much to worry about in Minecraft. Just go to bed at a reasonable hour and live a great life. It’s man’s ambition that is his folly.
