A few hidden gems I’ve played:

Dungeons of the Endless: store.steampowered.com/…/Dungeon_of_the_ENDLESS/

Solasta Crown of the Magister: …steampowered.com/…/Solasta_Crown_of_the_Magister…

Tower of Time: store.steampowered.com/app/617480/Tower_of_Time/

Detroit: Become Human: store.steampowered.com/…/Detroit_Become_Human/

The Dark Pictures Anthology - Man of Medan: …steampowered.com/…/The_Dark_Pictures_Anthology_M…

I hope you like them all as much as I did.

There’s plenty of combat. If you’ve played BG3 I imagine you’ll enjoy it.

The caveat is that it’s made by an indie studio, so the cutscenes aren’t AAA, but I think the game is amazing regardless, and that includes the expansion packs.

I think Dungeons of the Endless also has one of the best soundtracks in recent years. I like to have it on shuffle when I’m doing yoga.

I loved all of it, personally. Is there anything in particular you’re looking for that I can comment on, in terms of RPG’s?

My only two complaints with Solasta was that I felt the random encounters with traveling got annoyingly frequent and the cutscenes are definitely indie, but I enjoyed the game as a whole so much I stopped caring about either.

But I can confirm that the DLC’s have a ton of meat too.

I love Next Fest… but I’m really waiting for the Halloween sale on horror games.

Truly open-world Star Wars. Like a Breath of the Wild game except with multiple planets and all the Star Wars stuff.

We had something close to it with SW: Galaxies, but… RIP SW: Galaxies.

I actually have a 3E diorama of from the opening level hanging in my condo. I replay it once or twice a year. Still holds up.

FEAR was so darn good.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

Dead Space still scares the hell out of me.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

I loved Resident Evil but it was the third one that really got me, with the havoc in the streets and the scare where you realize Nemesis can literally chase you from room-to-room and/or show up literally anywhere at any time.

Not counting games that were unfun because of bugs, what’s the most unfun video game that you’ve played and what made it unfun? (kbin.cafe) angielski

Most of the video games I’ve played were pretty good. The only one I can think of that I didn’t like was MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo DS. Dropped that pretty quickly. It was a long while ago, but I’ll guess it was because there were too many fetch quests and annoying controls.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

I’d say Dark Souls 2.

When you get to the area with the bazillion spitting statues that respawn when you do, it became very clear that Fromsoft was out of ideas for making the game both interesting AND challenging.

Good.

One of my good friends was one of the voices on LA Noire years ago and gets zero residuals from it. It’s maddening.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

The worst one I can remember is Final Fantasy 8.

But also the UI was so complicated and bad that it made me hate the game.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

That’s what Solasta did. (Developer: Tactical Adventures)

Then we got two more fully-fleshed adventures as DLC’s, which I was more than happy to buy.

Find good developers and then (if you can) pay full price so they can keep making great, microtransaction-free games.

What is up with Baldur's Gate 3?

This is not a criticism - I love how much attention this game has been getting. I’m just not understanding why BG3 has been blowing up so much. It seems like BG3 is getting more attention than all of Larian’s previous games combined (and maybe all of Obsidian’s recent crpgs as well). Traditionally crpgs have not lit the...

Player stats for the first weekend of Baldur's Gate 3 (store.steampowered.com) angielski

We’ve cooked up some statistics highlighting data from the opening weekend following launch and prepared a handy infographic outlining player choices, actions, deaths, and the like. Some inspiration as we head into our second weekend, if you will.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

I went with Tiefling Bard.

It’s been fun so far.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

There are usually ways around this in the config files. That’s how I’ve always fixed it.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

That isn’t even close to the weirdest sex scene you can barge in on in the game.

But I won’t spoil it for you.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

I’m sure we’re thinking the same thing.

Bards are Baldur's Gate 3's best class and I can't imagine playing it as anything else (www.pcgamer.com)

I was planning on paying a rogue, paladin, or warlock (based on my tabletop characters), but this article nearly has me convinced. I am waiting for the PS5 release, so any agreement or dissension from my PC friends? Other class recommendations?...

FlashMobOfOne, (edited )
!deleted7243 avatar

Bard player here.

Bards are objectively the best if you want the full breadth of options to move the story around. If you want to kick ass in combat or sling more spells, other classes are better at those aspects of the game, but Bards are going to give you a lot more to play with in terms of the RP.

Not spoiling anything either, but you can always try bard and change your class later, as there is a mechanic in the game for that.

My bard and Astarion work as a team to do the robbing. When you perform, crowds gather around you, so it’s very useful for redirecting prying eyes so Astarion can pick pockets.

Baldur's Gate 3 - Let's Play Part 1: Infected (www.youtube.com) angielski

I never heard of Baldur’s Gate, but the other day someone on lemmy recommended this playthrough of the game that was just released. I watched it and it’s different from Skyrim etc, in that it has a way deeper story and is played slower. It’s a bit like DnD apparently, which I don’t know much about either....

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

I’m 10 hours into my first playthrough and still haven’t finished Act 1.

It’s glorious to be able to do so much wandering and just enjoy this rich, rich world Larian has built.

Most emotional moments in games? (SPOILERS)

Just for the heads up, this thread will probably have a lot of spoilers. I’m gonna try to go vague on spoilers for anybody that hasn’t played Hotline Miami 2. If you’ve played the game, you’ll probably know what I mean, but I’m going to say some purposefully esoteric shit to keep it out of full spoiler territory....

Ostagar in Dragon Age: Origins, and then the march to Denerim before the final battle.

Awesome.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

I’ve never gotten over how annoying the food / injury system in Metal Gear Solid 3 was. I almost didn’t play it because 30 minutes in it pissed me off so much.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

I agree on point one.

Disagree on point two.

DAO does have some age, but the writing is much, much better than in DAI. (Also, and I can’t emphasize this enough, play DA:O’s expansion pack. IT IS SUPERB.) Further, most of the side-quests in DAI feel like empty, MMO junk, whereas every side quest has some meaning in DAO.

FlashMobOfOne, (edited )
!deleted7243 avatar

DA2 was polarizing but I enjoyed it.

The writing was pretty good. Just gets boring playing literally the same ten maps over, and over, and over, and over again.

FlashMobOfOne,
!deleted7243 avatar

What you did there, I see it.
