mojo, w Starfield surpasses 6 million players to become Bethesda's best launch yet, beating Skyrim and Fallout

Haven’t tried it yet, too many good games came out recently. It’s on my wishlist though so hopefully it goes on Steam sale soon

RightHandOfIkaros, w This website has the interactive Starfield maps that should've been in the game

I’ve been loving the default map in the game. Its kinda like going back to the days Bethesda would write out navigation instructions in the quest and let the player use their brain to figure out where to go instead of marking it with a gigantic exclamation mark.

@supercheesecake@aussie.zone avatar

Yeah Morrowind was great for that. Felt more old school RPG where you actually had to explore to complete quests.

AlexRogansBeta,

What are you talking about? You don't need to listen to a damn word anyone says. Just follow the waypoints, fast travel to everything. The game is a menu navigation simulator.

i actually loved needing to remember where stores are, makes me feel like im actually there as a dumbass tourist

It’s kinda wild seeing people complain about Skyrim’s maps being too detailed and then seeing this thread.

AlexanderTheGreat,

People just like to complain. It’s in our nature.

cant be as bad as oblivion, that map is so hard to find towns i need to go to

darthsid, w Starfield surpasses 6 million players to become Bethesda's best launch yet, beating Skyrim and Fallout

Will wait for the Switch 2 port

ME5SENGER_24, w Starfield surpasses 6 million players to become Bethesda's best launch yet, beating Skyrim and Fallout

Skyrim’s launch was less impressive than it’s eternal longevity. Released on 11.11.11 and ported to everything but a Texas Instrument’s calculator. (Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s been done too, mods included)

I miss SimCity.

simcity 3000* was also good.

hypelightfly, w This website has the interactive Starfield maps that should've been in the game

Yeah, overall I'm enjoying the game but the star map does suck.

ech,

It’s wild that between games like NMS, EVE, Elite, even Satisfactory, there are great examples of what Bethesda should’ve done, but for whatever reason didn’t. There’s so much basic stuff that’s just…missing. I can only hope it’s all eventually modded in so players can have a more complete experience.

deft,

Just like Skyrim… Bethesda needs to go tbh

ech,

Why? What would their dissolution do for the industry? Making a bad or mediocre game isn’t really that big of a deal. They can make as many games as they want, as far as I’m concerned. The bad ones can just be ignored, and any good ones can be picked up.

XTornado,

The star map? Aren’t the complains about the planets maps? I don’t see what are the issues with the star map .

hypelightfly,

For me it's the star map and the lack of local map.

The planet maps are fine.

XTornado,

Well with planet map I actually meant the local map, sorry for the confussion.

This is looking good. Great time to be a Game Pass subscriber!

Thanks @AlexanderTheGreat that’s exactly what I needed! I really miss mini maps. Hopefully they will add that soon to the game itself.

M137,

There will surely be mods for that soon. I doubt they’ll add one officially. One good thing about Bethesda games is that basically everything people want can and will become mods.

AlexanderTheGreat,

I needed something as well so I’m glad Map Genie map some maps!

FinalBoy1975, w Here are some of the funniest Starfield glitches, from headless NPCs to breakdancing pirates

I don’t know about who else didn’t pay 70 bucks for this game, but I’m glad I didn’t pay 70 bucks for this game.

It’s a Bethesda game, what did you expect? ;)

I haven’t started it yet, but if past experience is any indication, the Xbox version should be far less buggy.

Totally expected this after the Fallout spinning head glitch:

Lethtor, w Xbox Game Pass Title 'Sea Of Stars' Is Getting Absolutely Incredible Reviews

Only question is: when the hell am I supposed to play this, this year’s absolutely packed with great games.

TheDarkKnight,

Good problem to have, right there with you. Bangers left and right!

some_designer_dude,

Care to name some? I’m so out of the loop but I love a good game… I usually only dust off my gaming rig for a new FarCry instalment 😬

Piemanding,

For me it would be: Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Remnant 2, Return to Moria, Starfield, this game, Pseudoregalia(10/10), Crab Champions.

some_designer_dude,

Thanks! Not gonna lie, “Crab Champions” jumped out the most in that list but I’ll check out the trailers for all 😜 🦀 💪

Piemanding,

Well all the other roguelikes I play aren’t from the past year so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Lethtor,

Baldur’s Gate III just came out and it’s an absolutely phenomenal RPG

Octopath Traveler II is also a really great RPG

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom came out earlier this year, which was also amazing, though obviously that’s (officially) only on Switch

Final Fantasy XVI was super fun, but that one is a PlayStation 5 exclusive

Then there is Starfield, the big new Bethesda game is space

A new Yakuza (though the series is being renamed to “like a dragon” now) game is coming out later this year as well (it’s a very storied game series though, if you’re not familiar with it, I’d suggest starting with either Yakuza 0 or Judgment)

Early this year there was actually another Like a Dragon game, Like a Dragon: Ishin, which is also great

A new Assassin’s Creed comes out soon as well, which is going back to a more traditional gameplay loop (recent entries were RPG-like, and this is going to be more stealth focused again like AC1-Unity)

Armored Core 6 is supposedly also a really good game where you build your mech to fight big enemies (though I personally don’t know much about that game)

Hi-Fi Rush was a really really good game, it’s a sort of rhythm adventure game where you have to fight in the beat of the music.

Ubisoft is also releasing their Avatar (blue Aliens, not the air bender) game late this year (December if I’m not mistaken), which should scratch your FarCry itch, I’d say.

I’m sure there are more that I either forgot or aren’t necessarily my wheelhouse, but those are the big ones

some_designer_dude,

Awesome rundown — thank you 🙏 I enjoyed the only Assassin’s Creed I played (Egypt one) so a new one coming out is exciting! The Bulder’s Gate game definitely sounds like a hit though I’ve not played many RPGs in the past. Might also check out that rhythm game — sounds like a novel idea for a game, which is always refreshing.

Thanks again!
