Yglorba, w How to transfer a save file between pirated game versions.

The easiest way to figure out where a game is writing its saves is to load it up in Sandboxie and save your game, then check sandboxie’s box content to see what got updated or saved and where.

Also, Cyberpunk is on GOG (because it’s made by the people who run GOG), there’s no need to get it through DODI unless you have a severely restricted internet connection and therefore desperately need the smaller size of a repack - you can get the clean gog installer from gog-games. You should just be able to install the latest GOG version over the old version with no difficulty.

Sasori323,

Yes, I was planning to download the new version from gog games. But when I installed the game I didn’t think about gog games at all, when searching for games I often go directly to DODI.

Could you explain this Sandboxie method? I don’t understand, what do I have to upload?

SpringStorm,

Sandboxie is a sandboxing app. It’s main purpose is to isolate an app from your PC, mainly used to run suspicious apps. It can track what the isolated app does.

It’s rather complicated, so it’s easier to find the game here, or as what I do, use Everything and sort by recently modified files so I can check what files are just written.

Mkengine,

I can also recommend Everything (1.5a) as it’s the only tool I know of where I can search not only for file names, but also for the contents of pdfs, docx, etc on every drive, including network drives.

You can also check out Process Monitor which is a freeware tool from Microsoft. So basically what you would do is: open process monitor, make a new game save and then process monitor will show you where this save file is located.

bblfrnz,

Well, the easiest way to find where the save files are located is to check out pcgamingwiki.

Sasori323,

This actually worked, thank you. I’ve located the save files now. Now what, I copy it and (in case the reinstallation of the game deletes those files) just paste it?

bblfrnz,

Yes, backup save and config files, and restore them in case of the reinstallation, but generally games rarely delete them when you uninstall them. This approach works almost with every game.

totallynotfbi, w [PIRACY NEWS]Team MKDEV retires after releasing FIFA 23 as their final crack(Denuvo Crack). They also posted some stuff about cracking Denuvo on their discord that I am sharing below.

The images are too compressed, so I can’t really make out what they say. I’m guessing that EA finally updated their outdated Denuvo implementation, making it much tougher to crack now

MiddledAgedGuy, w Has YouTube Blocked Your Adblocker Yet??

I feel like we can ignore this and it’ll mostly be a non-issue. Hopefully I don’t have to eat those words later.

YouTube can detect common current adblocking methods, and use this to hinder you now, prompting to comply with them. If you do, they win. You pay for no ads or you have an exception in your adblocker.

As another comment mentioned, it’s a cat and mouse game. Adblockers will get ahead of it. So just wait it out.

DrQuint, w Has YouTube Blocked Your Adblocker Yet??

Freaking ironic that I get an ad on strawpoll stopping me from seeing the results.

Woah, this is awesome work. I’m amazed as usual with the open source community and with people willing to share their computation for this.

Imagine being so brainwashed you actually believe modern copyright laws allows for free speech. Does this person constantly live with their heads in the clouds or are they just naturally braindead?

Pearlescence, (edited )

That’s what I read as well. You would think they would’ve gotten some leeway since it was done during an event comparable to war and they were following the footsteps of other digital libraries. They had a pretty stellar reputation and system in place for nearly a decade already, so I can only assume that they were simply waiting for an opportunity to target them.

JaxiiRuff, w Which cracks and repacs works best on linux?
@JaxiiRuff@pawb.social avatar

I remember on the linuxcracks subreddit a couple people mentioned LinuxRulez or something. Basically games that were installable by being made into a single bash file.

Didnt know it was possible to install an entire game from an .sh file with a gui, but some talented mf did it. Thats how I pirated the sims 4 with all dlcs and it was so easy.

theshatterstone54,

Yeah, and in terms of LinuxRulez, you can find their stuff on zamunda.net (use a Bulgarian proxy like nqma.net but keep in mind nqma can be finicky. And you need an account for zamunda. Don’t use a password you’ve used anywhere else, I wouldn’t trust them with it).

Make sure to firewall every single Unity game going forward folks!

(… which is something you should already be doing for any pirated software in general)

Sir_Kevin, w So, Unity is charging game developers per video game install now...

Unity is janky as fuck so I hope this turns more developers away so that they’ll use Unreal or anything else for that matter.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

The thing is Unreal could do something similar later.

jack, (edited )

Yes, the only safe (sophisticated) engine is Godot. It’s free and open source.

Sir_Kevin,
@Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

They could, but I doubt they’ll ever be that desperate.

vivadanang,

makes me sad because for VR and AR, Unity got devkits working faster than anything. And new hardware is still supported overwhelmingly in unity sooner. but fuck everything about this shitshow

Sir_Kevin,
@Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Everyr VR game I’ve played that uses Unreal feels sooo much more optimized then other games using Unity. It would be a significant win for everybody if more devs switched over.

vivadanang,

they’re more optimized because they must be in order to hit performan frame rates. Unreal makes a fantastic FPS engie; for anything else, it must be beaten into a shape that conforms with the limitations - in VR’s case, sub 10ms frame timing so the GPU has enough time to get the scene drawn into the buffer for each eye.

LANPHED, w So, Unity is charging game developers per video game install now...

Am I the only one thinking we need to convince EA or Origin to make a Unity game if this is an option?!

Serdan,

Microsoft has Unity games. I can’t imagine they’re happy.
