GenBlob, w Has YouTube Blocked Your Adblocker Yet??

Today I started getting ads with no video just audio. I didn’t get the adblocker message yet. Firefox ESR+ublock origin

snowbell,
@snowbell@beehaw.org avatar

I had this issue but refreshed the page and it has gone away since. I’m guessing that didn’t help for you?

Killing_Spark,

Works for a few videos and then it shows them again. Seems like the normal YouTube thing where you get ads every few videos

mayo,

This came up on reddit and one of the members suggested adding the following filter. I don’t know if it works but may as well. (ublock > settings > my filters)

youtube.com,youtubekids.com,youtube-nocookie.com##+js(json-prune, playerResponse.adPlacements playerResponse.playerAds playerResponse.adSlots adPlacements playerAds adSlots, adPlacements.[].adPlacementRenderer.renderer.instreamVideoAdRenderer)

GenBlob,

I haven’t come across any since yesterday but I’m putting this in just in case

Killing_Spark,

Yep same, Firefox+ublock origin

Try adding YT enhancer. I’ve got UBlock Origin and that installed. IDK which one is still blocking ads, but they’re still blocked.

Oh and look at that they are 100% going to increase the price on you down the line.

blashork, w Which cracks and repacs works best on linux?
@blashork@hexbear.net avatar

there’s a group called johncena141 who do linux specific repacks. They put the windows game in a dwarfs read only compressed archive, and then have an editable layer on top of it where saves and changes get written. The windows games are put into a wine wrapper and then you can run them while they’re still compressed. It’s pretty cool, but can be a bit finicky. Getting dwarfs installed can be a pain depending on your system. I find their stuff can be very hit or miss, but I like that they exist.

Besides that, ymmv with all the other repacks. Sometimes fitgirl works fine for me, sometimes it fucks up completely. Same goes for dodi. though I’ve found dodi to be a bit more reliable on wine than fitgirl.

That’s my two cents on stuff.

ByteWizard, w How can I find my schools Adobe Premiere/Photoshop Elements 2020 key?

Talk to your IT dept. They might have a student version you can get for cheap.

And btw, 3 years is nothing for software like that. All the major features are already in the software. They just have to keep adding crap to it so people will buy the new version. It’s a big cause of software bloat.

Psythik, w How to get into private trackers

Don’t bother. Private trackers suck. You have to maintain a certain ratio, which is much harder to do than you think when every single popular file has no leechers cause everyone’s doing the same thing. So more often than not you have to download a bunch of random BS that no one wants and seed it forever just to build up a high enough ratio to finally download what you actually want.

If you’re going to pay for torrents, save yourself the hassle and just sign up for Real-Debrid instead. You get direct downloads at up to 1Gbps, so it’s just as fast as a private tracker, and there’s no worrying about seeding since all the most popular torrents in the world are stored directly on their servers. (You can also easily add torrents that aren’t already on Debrid, in which case it behaves like a seedbox.) ~$17.50 for 6 months.

ParkingPsychology,

I have the same experience as this.

Either you have to open your wallet or you're going to spend a lot of time to get your ratio up.

I just use NZBs instead.

MurphysPaw,

Just start with freeleech torrents until you build your ratio. On my tracker, any torrent over 10gb does not count towards your download so everything uploaded from it is a bonus. For example, if you’ downloaded starfield today, by the end of the week you would probably have a decent amount of upload credit (its 90gb and people leeching constantly).

Pair this with a few of the most popular TV seasons and you’re set. Just leave those torrents seeding forever and you have little to worry about. If any slow down, replace them with something fresh. After a couple weeks you will probably be at the point where you never need to consider your upload/download ratio again.!

Add your torrent client to windows startup so you have to remember to stop seeding, not to start seeding.

Buy a cheap 2TB HDD and seed forever.

Download things when you need them not just because you can Be smart, not greedy. Share back. It’s really not that hard you just need self control.

Its also important to set up your torrent client properly, any good tracker will have a guide for this. Your upload won’t count if it’s not set up correctly, this is where a lot of people fall.

But be aware that most of these sites will ban you if you don’t keep your ratio, but most will let you “donate” to get back in.

I’m not an expert but i’m happy to answer any questions.

Good luck!

Psythik,

Or I could not do any of that and stick with Debrid. I never have to worry about seeding anything ever again.

rambos,

Real debrid and usenet seems awesome, but I never tried that just because private trackers are working perfectly fine for so many years. Building ratio is not easy on every tracker, but some of them are a joke. Lot of them reward you with points if your torrents are just active and then you can buy upload with points. OP didnt ask for movies or tv shows source, but most likely its their interest. Private trackers can provide more than just a video content, but yeah if you dont want to keep your PC online to keep seeding its probably not best option. Id rather pay for VPN and donate to trackers that share loot for free tbh, but its not for everyone

Gailthesnail,

how about the absolute top private trackers like BeyondHD or PTP are they so lenient or even remotely possible to join? because those are the only ones worth joining IMO the lower tier private ones are stupid since i can grab everything they have from elsewhere

rambos,

PTP is having some troubles right now, but I believe you can join almost anything with good reputation. Even lower tier trackers are better than public trackers IMO, people still care more and feels better to contribute, its probably bit more safe as well

Gailthesnail,

be more specific: how difficult is it to join the top trackers that i mentioned? because ive seen plenty of people say those top ones are completely sealed up for years and i havent been able to dispute them. lower tier private trackers are pretty worthless to me

ipkpjersi,

With a seedbox plus freeleech torrents and bonus points you generally don’t even need to worry about ratio and all of that. Plus, it feels good to give back to the community.

ECB,

Honestly, I agree with this completely. I got into private trackers earlier this year and after a couple months just quit. On public torrents I have a seed ratio over 5.0, since I have gigabit upload and just like giving back, but private trackers just ended up being a pain.

Having to manage ratios was a pain. Having to build your ratio with freeleech was a pain. I never had a single torrent get a positive ratio. To top it off, I didn’t even find the selection to be much better than public trackers.

Maybe I’m missing something, but I tried 3-4 and then just gave up. Too many rules and not enough reason to use it.

Gailthesnail,

the top ones truly are super great but theyre really impossible to get into. managing ratios is also stupid. for me DDL and usenet covers everything private trackers have

MrBusinessMan, w Now you have to pay to see lyrics on spotify

Solid business decision by Spotify here, I support this move. I’ll probably switch over to them from YouTube music.

butter,

I know right. What’s Spotify’s goal with this move

Whirlybird,

What’s Spotify’s goal with this move

Get people to pay for premium…

butter,

So someone can ignore the ads, ignore not being able to chose a song, and ignore no download. But having to open musixmatch in a separate app is the straw that broke the camels back

TheMadnessKing,

The idea of suddenly having something taken away fro you really triggers people.

If they had introduced as premium from start, then no would have cared about it.

Whirlybird,

It seems they were right going by how upset people are in here. Many of these people that are carrying on like spoiled children will no doubt subscribe to premium now.

sysgen,

The goal is that now that they’ve been caught pirating lyrics, they have to pay MusixMatch for their lyrics, perhaps on a per request basis, so they lose money by making it available.

Blackmist, w Legendary PC developer says Denuvo is “a punishment to the consumer”

Crackers: We don’t do it for the piracy, we just like the challenge.

Denuvo: Try this one then.

Crackers: Too hard bro, at least give us a chance!

I acknowledge that this isn’t going to be a popular opinion in a piracy sub, but the main reason people hate Denuvo is that it works.

It’s basically killed the entire game hacking scene, because by the time they break it, nobody is interested in the game any more. There’s like one person left that can do it, and they’re more than a little bit odd.

It may be “anti-consumer”, but you know what was worse? All the other shit they tried on PC. Always online bullshit. Single player games that you couldn’t save any more if your connection wobbled. Actual rootkits.

space_comrade,

Death to the concept of intellectual property and all but I’ve never actually felt Denuvo making problems for me when I played a game using it, you’re right it seems to be working as advertised.

I’m still hoping someone to crack it in a more reliable and fast manner, fuck large gamedev companies and their profit margins.

Blackmist,

I’ve definitely played games that used it, and I wouldn’t even have known without the handful of negative steam reviews shouting about it.

Sethayy,

“I’m too stupid to notice the difference so it must not exist”

ne0phyte,

People hate Denuvo because it requires a regular connection to the Internet and has a big impact on the performance of games.

I’m not buying these games not because I can’t pirate games with Denuvo (I don’t really pirate games at all anymore) but because they tend to run like shit.

MonkderZweite,

I pirate because the original runs like shit.

jsdz,

I haven’t pirated any actual software since the 1990s (too cowardly) but my hatred for Denuvo and the like burns with unsurpassed intensity. I will never knowingly buy a game that includes it. “Anti-tampering” indeed. I’m not sure if that shit should be legally allowed at all, but certainly not in ordinary mass-market PC games.

It does require you be online, and it is essentially a “rootkit.” Its malware features are more polite and better hidden than some of the worst of what has been tried before, but that just adds to the danger that it might be seen as acceptable by people who don’t know any better.

SlippyCliff76,

I’ve seen Denuvo combined with the always online requirement with the latest Far Cry 6 on steam. The always online requirement makes a cracked version worth it in my use case.

Blackmist,

Most bad Denuvo stuff seems to come from any extra DRM they add as well, just in case Denuvo wasn’t enough. Always online sounds like one of those extras, because I don’t think it’s part of Denuvo itself. I think the Denuvo online requirements are when you install, every X days (seems to vary from two weeks to a month, probably configurable per game), and when you change your hardware configuration.

Denuvo alone is enough, because as soon as Denuvo is removed, the rest can be removed by regular mortal hackers.

gjghkk,

I acknowledge that this isn’t going to be a popular opinion in a piracy sub, but the main reason people hate Denuvo is that it works.

You act like this is some hidden secret lmao. You should change your name to Captain OBVIOUS.

shoomba, w How I discovered 4K IPTV (Yes really, the resolution is 2160p).

Are you willing to share the spreadsheet you have so far? Or maybe sticky it to your new community? It would be nice to have a way to verify/review the providers posting on the community provide what they claim.

JoeCoT,
@JoeCoT@kbin.social avatar

The spreadsheet of verified info on iptv providers would be far more useful than a lemmy community where random providers can post.

palmdale,

Community is good for further discussion but agreed I mostly want to see the spreadsheet.

XpeeN, (edited )

Verified vendors, but yeah the spreadsheet will be great

burnt_toast, (edited )
@burnt_toast@lemmy.opensupply.space avatar

I understand why you think that might be the case, but I’ve set up the community such that you can’t create a post unless you are approved by an admin. Approval here means that your service needs to be vetted before you can post. The whole point is to find quality providers and share reviews, if we allow anyone to post, the community would be overrun by low effort spammers in no time.

Also, see this comment on why I’m hesitant to share the spreadsheet.

Agreed. The problem with these sorts of IPTV lists is they get spammed to hell with questionable providers/resellers

burnt_toast,
@burnt_toast@lemmy.opensupply.space avatar

I’m a little hesitant to post the spreadsheet, since most top-tier providers don’t want their information posted publicly. I reached out to each provider to ask them if they would be willing to have their service listed, what you see in the community are the providers who are comfortable posting publicly. A few more (about 6) will be posting soon, the rest have really poor quality (you can find these guys on the first page of google) and have been rejected from the community.

The community also allows providers to post updates, subscribers can discuss and give feedback, which in turn helps other folks. I think building a good quality repository of community contributions will pay off long term.

OurMoneyIsBroken,

Please share whatever you can. Especially interested in the 4k low lag services. 🙏

OminousOrange, w Leagues Trying to Take Down Illegal Sports Streams
@OminousOrange@lemmy.ca avatar

I’d gladly pay for a reasonably priced service (probably no more than $20/mo, but even that is on the steep side) where I could watch whatever game I’d like with no blackouts. Unfortunately, that doesn’t exist, so, here we arr.

kambusha,

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind just paying a season-pack for the sport that I’m interested in. Picking & choosing the competitions I want to see, and maybe having the option to pay for 1-off games. This isn’t possible though because networks/companies buy exclusive rights, so for one competition I need this subscription, for another I need this. It fucking sucks!

That being said, any recommendations on a good setup for live sports on a smart TV? In the past, I’ve streamed on a website on my laptop, and then plug in to my TV via HDMi. I’ve tried Kodi in the past but has been super unreliable for me for live-sports. Any other recommendations?

OminousOrange,
@OminousOrange@lemmy.ca avatar

I can’t help much on that front. If I’d like to watch on the TV, I do the same and just cast from a laptop or PC. There’s IPTV, but it’s a whole other rabbit hole that I’m not familiar with.

@nicetriangle@kbin.social avatar

Exactly. I’m not going to pay a fuckload of money for multiple streaming services only to still not see my fucking team every week.
