Could someone kindly ELI5 how to lidarr-ize my liked tracks from Spotify, please?

My collection there is quite static and I think I’m a good candidate to go MP3/AAC/whatever 🏴‍☠️ plus Spotify free just to keep up to date with newly released singles/albums from time to time.

Thanks!

P.S. also what comes after would be great, i.e. how I can batch transfer all those files from my home server running lidarr to my Android phone/PC and keep them in sync after the initial transfer. Plus also a nice feature rich Android app, either free (no ads) or even better open source with an accessible price.

butter,

Skip Lidarr for your initial move. Use Deemix. You can find links to premium ARLs on the wiki or with a google search (or DM me).

Deemix has an option to sign in with your Spotify account and download playlists. There’s a weird song count limit, and you may have to manually hit some tracks. But this is the way.

You can also do Flac with this setup. You don’t necessarily need it, but if you’re making the move, I recommend it. Since Flac is lossless, there’s never going to be an upgrade.

butter,

Also, if you’re up for the self-hosted life, what comes next is a music server. If you have good access to WiFi or unlimited data, this eliminates storage as a bottle neck. I recommend Navidrome. But something like Jellyfin or Plex can do Movies and TV, if you want a 1 size fits all.

If you’re not, look into Syncthing. You chose a folder on your computer and one on your phone and this app keeps them in sync. After that, my favorite player was GoneMad. It’s offline, with real support for music tags. This allowed song ratings and real smart playlists

happyhippo,

Thanks!

Yeah I forgot to mention that I’m already living the self hosted life, I got a small home server with the arr suite, jellyfin and a few other containers.

Didn’t know about syncthing, I’ll definitely check it out. Same for GoneMad 👍🏻

Thanks again!

Music is one of the easiest things to pirate, so much so that I often forget me downloading flacs of the songs I listen to is supposed to be a no-no

Between a flac playing app (Musicolet on Android and MusicBee on PC) as well as YT Music Revanced, things go smoothly

ArcRay,

The only reason I don’t pirate music is because of discovery. I haven’t found a good way to find new music without using a streaming service. And then, I’m already using a streaming service, so why bother.

cyberpunk007,

This. Back when I was a spring chicken I had nothing better to do with my time than download random songs and albums. Ain’t nobody got time for that now.

selokichtli,

Streaming is fine to discover music, but you are not guaranteed that an album you like will be there for you the next time you want to listen to it. I do listen music in Spotify with a modded app, then I download the albums I liked. There are albums that I can’t listen to Spotify anymore, but I still have the audio files in my Subsonic server.

N1cknamed,
@N1cknamed@feddit.nl avatar

Sure, it’s easy to download one song. But I watch maybe two movies a month, yet I listen to thousands of songs in that time. Downloading songs individually doesn’t even come close to the convenience of streaming. Not to mention the lack of music discovery and social features.

Jaded,

There’s different ways to automate it. There was a thread a while back where someone outlined their system. He kept the free Spotify account and had a script that checked it every week for his new recommended playlists, then it would download it automatically. He used an other software to host the library.

As a Spotify Artist, I bet I don’t even see a single hundredth of a penny for somebody paying extra for the lyrics, either…

And even if Spotify did pay out extra for lyrics, I’m sure they’d find a way to screw my band out of royalties like they currently are anyway.

I pirated it anyway. I owned a PS4 copy, pirated it on PC, played on both and greatly enjoyed myself both times, and sold the copy to second hand reseller (Cex) that I buy all my games from. I neevr pay full price and never support the industry. The only digital copies of games I have are either ones that were free for a time, or ones that are free forever. Until the gaming industry stops releasing half-finished products, and stops overworking their employees, I will keep on not passing my financial support their way.

Anyone who still financially supports Ubisoft is at their own fault at this point.

killabeezio, w [HELP] Setting up a Jellyfin server with different (remote) storage servers

Not sure where you got the idea that it’s not advisable to mount the box via NFS. You can totally do this. I would make some adjustments though.

I would use mergerfs to union multiple mounts into one. You would then download to the local mount which is the drive connected directly to your seed box. Then I would have a remote mount to the nfs mount. You merge these into one so that when you link up jellyfin, it won’t know the difference and you can just stream like normal.

You need to copy files from the local drive to the remote, so you can try and roll your own solution by using rclone or use something like cloudplow which solves this issue as well. Cloudplow uses rclone as well, but monitors for changes automatically.

As far as copying files, why are you using sync anyway? It’s pretty dangerous. Just use move or copy instead. This way you don’t need to keep copies on your computer and the server.

As far as streaming from the nfs mount. You may need to make some changes to the cache settings and ensure they are set correctly.

With a setup like that, you should have no problems though.

downhomechunk, w Torrebting security.

Disable ipv6 if you haven’t already.

Stuka,

I’m pretty sure 1pv6 is disabled, I went rhoguh steps but I’m not 100% how to verify. Ipleak tests show falling back on ipv4 instead of 6, if that’s any indication

iHUNTcriminals,

Where did you disable ipv6? In your torrent app?

Asking because I’m new not because I can help, lol

Stuka,

I had to follow a tutorial, I believe there was a file or 2 that had to be edited with something specific. I’ll try to find it for you when I’m off work.

iHUNTcriminals,

Was it in qBitTorrent? If not don’t worry about I’m sure I can find info for my os openmediavault

Stuka,

No, it was done through command line

Can’t help you, but I have to ask, why Hetzner?

They are a german server hosting company, you know, the country with some of the strictest copyright laws? For example, a kid at an old school of mine was once fined 800€ for accidentally sharing a song on a school hosted messaging board.

If you do anything with pirated torrenting on their servers, they will know, and will come after your ass. And even sharing pirated content can get you in incredibly hot water, they might not have found out yet, but when they do, good luck.

retiolus, (edited )
@retiolus@lemmy.cat avatar

Hetzner because that’s what I had and have always had a good experience with them, anything else to recommend at the same prices? And that is a reason why I don’t download the content directly on their servers but on my local machine.

Katzastrophe,
@Katzastrophe@feddit.de avatar

The only one in a similar price range that comes to mind is ovhcloud.com, they are a france based company, still not ideal though, as they might require ID.

If money is the biggest factor (which I guess it is), best thing for you to do, might be to move your storage box off of the german servers and onto the finnish servers.

VonReposti,

I don’t think I’ve ever given my ID for my Kimsufi or SoYouStart servers. Both of them are OVH subsidiaries.

Katzastrophe,
@Katzastrophe@feddit.de avatar

I’ve heard they do it sometimes for high risk customers. Though they might have stopped some years ago

retiolus,
@retiolus@lemmy.cat avatar

It is already on the finnish rervers! ☺️

taaz,

Even in the finish location, if any of the “law” fuckers scourging the open trackers, sends an abuse/dmca to Hetzner, you will have some explaining to do as they will raise it as a ticket and require an explanation as to what happened and what is your course of action to remedy it.

Source: my own experience about two months ago (used chatgpt to send them a neutral bussiness respone, worked like a charm)

Use vpn that allows port forwarding, or never touch public trackers at all, or both.

Rescuer6394,

they can detect piracy regardless. generally they set up honeypots and if you download a torrent from them, they will know and fine you.

retiolus,
@retiolus@lemmy.cat avatar

How can they if I download everything on my personal computer using a VPN?

bier,

I’ve been using a Hetzner server for a couple of years now and haven’t gotten any abuse reports or DMCA takedown request but I’m using a docker + vpn setup so maybe it’s that

lud, w Now you have to pay to see lyrics on spotify

It does make sense though since Spotify has to pay musixmatch for the service.

wecalledhimmavis,

who crowdsource a heap of their lyrics, paying a pittance to their curators 🙄

lud,

That’s true. But to be fair, I have added one song and synced a few. I didn’t do it because I wanted pay, I did it because I wanted the song’s lyrics to be on Spotify and on the app.

They built a service and people seem to like it, so I don’t mind.

ultratiem, w Is the TNT version of macpaw gemini safe?
@ultratiem@lemmy.ca avatar

No that website is not safe. TNT is fine but whatever people inject into their cracks beware. Make sure it’s a proper, unedited TNT release.

Also, stop using that trash software. macOS doesn’t need to be “cleaned.”

Wolverine6154,

FMHY still lists cmacked as an option for Mac software. Why do you say it’s unsafe?

Also how do you verify a TNT release is unedited?

first_ad4972,

If cmacked isn’t safe which website can I download Mac apps cracked by tnt? (Or other safe cracks)

ultratiem,
@ultratiem@lemmy.ca avatar

Mac serial junkies. Only trustworthy place that’s open for reg.

They have a guide of sites to avoid. Cmacapps and Mac torrents are listed (among others).

In fact, Mac torrents was where I was infected with something. Only time I’ve ever gotten a thing on Mac.

Wolverine6154,

Is Cmacapps the same as Cmacked? I’ve never had a problem when using Cmacked

ChoKohii,
@ChoKohii@reddthat.com avatar

agree with you on that second point. i stopped using CleanMyMac after some scathing reviews about its functionality.

honestly macOS is fine on its own to deal with stuff like this and cleaning, so third-party programs are kind of unnecessary. the only program i’m okay with nowadays is OnyX as it’s a nice toolbox for utilities
