Dadifer, w Unity's self-combustion engine

An incredibly well-written article.

mojo, w Forget Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077's free 2.0 patch is a staggering upgrade on its own

That’s cool but unless I actually get the DLC, I have no reason to reinstall it again

JJROKCZ, (edited ) w Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin shows off how it "delivers a truly comprehensive RTS game at launch"

Why can’t we get this level of effort into a good 40k game?

Edit: this gives almost lotr:bfme2 vibes

Hopefully it’s more fleshed out than Mercenaries. I can dream, right?

HidingCat,

MW5 was kinda underbaked right? I remember not-so-great reviews. Did you play it? How was it compared to say, MW3, which probably was my favourite in the series?

coarsesand,

My understanding is that the first expansion fixed many of the launch issues; I played it a ton in between the second and third expansions, and while it wasn’t a AAA game, it was still a very enjoyable sandbox. Watching the IS map evolve over time was great, and eventually the whole thing turned into 'mech Pokemon, which I got sucked into but could be very dry. It was pretty far from MW3’s crafted campaign, but the first expansion did add a number of short and sometimes memorable mission chains all over the map you could run into, giving a bit of that campaign story experience. The second expansion added another campaign you could choose to pick up, but I never did so I can’t comment.

It got pretty good now with the 4 DLCs and some minor mods.

Geek_King, w Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin shows off how it "delivers a truly comprehensive RTS game at launch"

I’d be interested in a honest to diety rts set in the age of sigmar! It’s too bad Dawn Of War 3 was trash.

Dragonmind, w Forget Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077's free 2.0 patch is a staggering upgrade on its own

Combat was the incredible highlight of this game.

Seeing most of the fixes go towards that instead of immersion kinda… You’d think they highlight those immersive aspects more. The mods are sure as hell all about immersion including working stock markets and such.

mindbleach, w Sony Introduces PS5 Deep Earth Collection

Hanabie, w Unity boycott begins as devs switch off ads to force a Runtime Fee reversal
@Hanabie@sh.itjust.works avatar

Mobile games don’t qualify as games. They’re riddled with micro transactions and ads, and I would know… I’m complicit in this, as I’m translating their games, of which the cash shops are a noticeable chunk.

May unity milk them till the udder produces nothing but pus.

nanoUFO, (edited )
@nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

Agreed, there are very very few actually good experience on mobile and most of those got ported to PC. Too bad non mobile devs have to suffer because Unity see’s a easily exploitable goldmine in mobile gaming.

SpezCanLigmaBalls,

What uh…. Games are not riddled with micro transactions these days? Do you consider console/pc games riddled with micro transactions not games?

What is your definition of a game?

Jaysyn,
@Jaysyn@kbin.social avatar

Little Inferno. Pathos. Shadowrun & Shadowrun: Dragonfall. Most everything on FDroid.

I have a ton of mobile games from Humble Bundle that don't have any ads

    Your position that “Mobile games don’t qualify as games”.

    Sorry, I didn’t realize you were too stupid to remember the words you wrote.

    Which Pathos?

    Hanabie,
    @Hanabie@sh.itjust.works avatar

    Games before 2010. Nowadays: Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate 3, Armored Core 6. Games where the publisher doesn’t try to nickel and dime you exist.

    Afrazzle,

    A lot of them are trash but some are better than even RDR2.

    operetingushisutemu,

    I need names, please I need games :D

    Afrazzle,

    Not everybody’s cup of tea but genshin impact is unironically a very good game. I was extremely skeptical at first but got drawn in by the world building, the soundtrack, the combat system, and it also filled the void of a new world to explore that WoW left behind after I quit.

    HipPriest,

    I would say that the most obnoxious games live on mobile but think it's going to hard the other way to say good games on mobile don't exist.

    Mostly you have to pay for the good ones which is true of most things in life. I say this because I've been playing Root, Kingdom Two Crowns and the Rusty Lake games this week on my tablet and feel like a lot of people also play quality things not crap on mobile devices

    The assisted reload was also in the first game (notably for the recoilless rifle also featured here) and requires a great deal of coordination. A great co-op mechanic with high rewards when playing it right.

    DoucheBagMcSwag, w Payday 3 developer drops Denuvo from the game before it's even out

    Good. Having Denuvo in an always online game was fucking stupid

    I still won’t play it because it’s another always online live service
