How come there are so few racing games coming out lately? Feels like it’s just codemasters doing their thing, some struggling indie games and a truckload of shovelware. I’m not saying it’s dead but wasn’t racing games one of the primary genres?...
Do you want themed racing games in different time periods?
If you’re using realworld(or alikes) cars, there isn’t really much more to go for, you’ve got circuit, street, rally, drift and touring cars - which really the only thing you can start to really differ is locale or time period.
F1 is F1 and F1 fans will slaughter anyone who tries to mess with F1. But also there are yearly games, since the rules change every year and the new game is the new rules.
Do you want more arcade style?
What are the indie games that have piqued your interest?
That’s what the publishers keep saying, because it distracts from the real issue. (also- 3D artists, 2D artists and graphics programmers aren’t doing gameplay systems…)
The real reason is the monetization of play, if they make things too fun, you’ll keep playing some osingle player game instead of their expensive live service titles.
They make everything bad to try and prop up those live services.
Also to be fair (and critical), while Sean lied to both Sony and us about the state of the game-
They also probably did have most of everything they promised at one point, then the Christmas Flood happened. That’s when the lies started and but those lies were likely more for Sony rather than us, as it’s entirely possible Sony would have outright cancelled the game if they’d known how much was actually lost in the flood.
Instead they released what they could in the time they had left then just kept plugging away at it post release.
You can’t really gauge its Steam reviews because there are only 13(!) total so far, reflective of a game that has launched with just a few hundred players. 224, as I’m writing this article. Sub-Concord levels. Yes. Concord is a unit of measurement now....
If Nintendo were only showcasing games developed AND published by Nintendo, that might be the argument.
They’re not though, some of the games they’re showing they didn’t develop or publish.
Nintendo says emulation is transformative, that due to the recompiler, it’s a new work. Do they have permission from all the rightsholders for third party games to make a transformative work?
Do they even have the permissions from artists who might have licensed their work to Nintendo for X game, but not for the newly emulated ‘Y’
No, it’s more like being a Rock Band, having 2 wildly successful albums then going in a another direction with a completely new, different sound for the third album, then wondering why no one bought it.
They seem to be very caught off guard by Star Wars: Outlaws’ underperformance, and after investor pressure, are trying to massively course correct. This is what happens when you vote with your dollars!
In the past an executive couldn’t really keep a pulse on the market themselves, they needed real world connections, they needed information that wasn’t just available at their fingertips and the only way to readily get it was relying on people under them to feed truthful and useful information and not just be ‘yes men’.
Information is readily available at their fingertips now though, there is no excuse for being so disconnected and out of touch.
Things that get removed by staff on nexusmods don’t show a ‘Not Found’ link or have the title renamed ‘DELETED’ - they generally show ‘removed by staff’ or ‘under moderation review since <date>’.
‘Not found’ is usually when the mod author unpublishes a mod.
This sounds like the typical mod drama, author has removed it for some reason and people are jumping to conclusions and/or the author is gaslighting people into the wrong conclusions.
That’s fair these days, unless you’re playing it on a CRT with original hardware or MiSTER, the latency will be through the roof compared to what the game was designed around.
I missed the days of Uncharted and Tomb Raider, those games don’t exist anymore, instead open world “everything games” have taken its place, AssCreed, Horizon, Fallen Order etc....
I probably missed out on a great game, but at the time I tried playing Fallen Order, I had a lot on my plate so never gave the game the time of day after a single misstep. (that’s unfair on the game)
In the first level, there is a section where you drop into a railcar and a pair of Stormtroopers are just standing there. They never shoot at you.
The only way forward is to kill them. They never shoot at you. I stopped and waited.
Cal murdered those Stormtroopers and that took my right out of the mindset of a Jedi right away.
First, try force dismissing broken companions, you’ll need to get their refid first though (so maybe load an older save, or just search for the refid with the help command - ie. help mountbatten 4 npc to search for ‘mountbatten’ in refids that are classed as ‘npc’)
For reference, since I have it written on a post-it in front of me, Mountbatten is 082c1edc (08 may be different if londonworldspace.esm is in a different slot)
After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close. Don’t worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with some returning themes!...
Imagine something like D-Day/Operation Overlord in WW2, but you’ve got 2/3/4 teams trying to fight up a Salmonid beach, big PVE event, but whichever team takes their beachfront first/gets the furthest in within the 3min timer, wins.
When your predecessor was Don Mattrick, it’s not like you have to perform that great to be better.
They need Peter Moore back, he’s the only leader of Xbox/Microsoft Games that’s ever been any good - he took Xbox from zero to its peak golden age, then he left and we got the dark age of Kinect.
I honestly kind of agree with this. A lot of people see metacritic/opencritic scores and take it at face value. I a lot of people that would just instantly write off a game if it isn’t higher than 80/100.
After the massive blunder of Starfield, I cannot see how Elder scrolls 6 could possibly be successful. Everything points to the fact that they knew that the game was not even half finished, in my opinion, with major glaring issues, and they decided to just send it off anyway. The difference between this game and Oblivion is that...
There is also the mediocre story, but hopefully they’ll learn the lesson that no, we don’t want something as automagically powerful as a dragonborn or whatever, it worked for skyrim sure, but it’s a not something needed in every title.
Working from a zero prisoner to hero was always the goal and should be again.
Shrek, Despicable Me, Every Disney movie ever, would also like a word.
The best kids movies are ones that put jokes in for the Adults forced to watch them - it shows they care about their audience, even the incidental one.
