Dual Pads - check

Ergo bumps on back of case - check

Not Intel - check

Symmetrical Sticks - check… but not like this - the center of gravity will still be out of whack and you’ll get sore wrists after a while. They need to be up top, like the WiiU Gamepad and SteamDeck. (somehow Nintendo got worse between WiiU > Switch, Switch is terrible for ergo all round)

ms_lane,

Steamdeck isn’t a perfect example either, but it’s better than here.

For a sticks-only (+ touch on the screen) setup, WiiU Gamepad is still the golden standard, centre of gravity is just right, stick placement is natural for the holding position with the grips, even the dpad and face buttons are comfortable.

ms_lane,

Patents only last 20 years, You can copy the SNES dpad…

ms_lane,

That’s what’s happening though.

Microsoft has implemented a standard Direct3D API for upscalers (DirectSR), so instead of game needing to directly target DLSS AND FSR AND XeSS, it targets DirectSR and your GPU driver provides the rest (ie. nVidia drivers will target DLSS, Intel XeSS, AMD probably nothing for now, since Microsoft’s built-in scaler is a port of FSR3)

This would only be better if Khronos had beaten them to the punch, this is Windows only, but at least it’s GPU vendor neutral.

ms_lane,

Too bad, cancelled Game Pass due to the price rises, won’t be resubbing.

ms_lane,

Exactly, they hated Halo fans and wanted to make something to spite them and it turned out to make no money and they’re all out of a job.

Just like Saints Row 4 and Volition…

Ken Levine says BioShock nearly went nowhere and was almost canceled: "We can't make those games because they don't sell" (www.gamesradar.com) angielski

What’s interesting to me is of course how cheaply Bioshock got made compared to today’s blockbuster hits. Somewhere, we took the wrong turn in regards to modern game development, truly....

ms_lane,

The cancellation of Deus Ex Mankind Divided Part 2, pained me quite a lot.

But I’m sure the executives that got a fat bonus were happier than I was upset. (insert meme happiness comic)

ms_lane,

Skyrim was made with a staff of around 100 people.

Starfield was made with a staff of around 450. It’s worse in almost every way.

Too many cooks.

ms_lane,

For OoT, Ship of Harkinian is better.

ms_lane,

But think about all the blockbusters you’ll miss out on - like Starfield, Halo MCC, Gears5 and the fan favorite Redfall!

Also don’t forget the value-added extra like EA play where you can play such gems as Mass Effect Andromeda, Anthem, Base version of Sims4 (DLC extra) and less! (EA Sports FC not included)

ms_lane, (edited )

Yeah about to cancel myself.

edit: Aaaand it’s gone. Hasta la vista Microsoft.

ms_lane,

That’d be great, since it’s basically broken as-is.

ms_lane,

It’s been around in one form or another since the Windows Phone 10 days, it was a weird beta that would sometimes work and required a lot of faffing about.

Devs should not be "forced to run on a treadmill until their mental or physical health breaks", says publisher of Manor Lords, citing how gamers seem to be trained to expect endless content work now (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....

ms_lane,

Exactly and now they found that doesn’t work, they’re blaming the consumer, again, for things that are their own fault.

ms_lane, (edited )

Tease != an instant turn off

The media apparatus as a whole seems to have forgotten what ‘tease’ means.

ms_lane,

Both are true though.

If you want to release your game in Early Access, you should expect to update the game and community frequently.

If you want to buy a game (early access or not), take a look if it’s what you want to play right now, never buy any game, software, service or device that is promising the functionality you want will be coming later. If it does come later, buy it then, never buy on promises.

ms_lane,

It’s a 17 year old game, how long do you expect them to support it?
