Challenger, w The Witcher producer blames Americans and social media for Netflix series' simplified plot

When asked what he believed to be significant for younger people, Baginski replied: “Just emotions. Just pure emotions. A bare emotional mix. Those people grew up on TikTok and YouTube, they jump from video to video.”

So basically It’s Gen Z that he couldn’t create an interesting plot from the source material

tal, (edited ) w Baldur's Gate 3 is a 122GB download and you can't preload any of it
@tal@kbin.social avatar

Why do people care?

I mean, yes, all else held equal, I'd rather have a video game two days earlier or whatever, but this is way down the list of things I'd get worked up about.

Hell, the !@PatientGamers crowd waits for at least a year after release, at which point all the patches and whatnot are normally out, often sales are on, hardware to run a game tends to be cheaper, and often people have done substantial work on game wikis and the like. I can understand someone not wanting to wait for a year, but who can't handle a day or two?

EDIT: Or let me put another perspective on it. The release date is essentially arbitrary from a player's standpoint. Suppose some serious bug had shown up late in development -- which could easily have happened -- and that release date had been pushed back by five days. I doubt that anyone would have said anything, even though they would have gotten their hands on the game several days later. But the inability to preload making that same game show up playable a couple of days later has articles being written complaining about it. Why? The delay happens either way.

lightninhopkins, w Baldur's Gate 3 is a 122GB download and you can't preload any of it

That’s insane. Let me get it on some kind of physical media.

3rd, w Sony’s latest PS5 beta supports Dolby Atmos and up to 8TB of M.2 SSD storage

That's some great news for PS5 users, as games are getting bigger the ability of upgrading the storage up to 8TB is awesome!

Wisely, w Assassin's Creed Mirage will take 25-30 hours to complete – and that's if you're a completionist

I seem to have a differing opinion here but I love long games if it is actually full of good content.

I don't play games with micro transactions and find a lot of open world games to be full of time wasters. If that's all it is then sure cut that out.

But with games costing $70 I would feel like I wasted my money for only a 10+ hour experience like some comments are wanting. That can be done in a single day. Assassin Creed games really aren't meant to be replayed either.

Games with lots of replayabilty are such good value and keep me entertained for hundreds or even thousands of hours. Games like Civilization, Persona 5, Zelda, Elder Scrolls, GTA, Metal Gear, old school Final Fantasy, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Xcom, Command and Conquer, Colonization, etc.

Maybe it's more a sign of modern games being full of stuff that isn't fun? Boring extremely limited NPC's, lots of wandering with nothing to do but collect some useless thing. In that case I agree with all the other comments but instead of wishing for a shorter game I would wish for a better game that is fun to play for long periods of time.

Zahille7,

I paid full price for Jedi Survivor, and minus a couple (somewhat big) bugs, I feel like I got my money’s worth after I finished the story. I think it took me around 60-ish hours to get to 99%

3rd,

I'm currently on my second playthrough of the original Fallen Order and while I got the game for free I'd say it's worth full 60$. It's a great intriduction to the souls-like games for someone new to the genre

Does anyone still follow this franchise? It’s pumped so many half-assed sequels into the market that the brand has to be suffering.

harmonea,
@harmonea@kbin.social avatar

The brand suffers because people care about it. If no one cared, the brand would just wither and die, forgotten, like so many others have. This seems obvious enough that I really have to wonder, did you ask this question because you're actually surprised, or because you want to portray some weird image of being above all this?

harmonea, w New trailer for my personal project. I wish I could quit my job instead of spending nights and weekend days working on it.
@harmonea@kbin.social avatar

Good luck with your game! However, if I can make a suggestion:

Think of a way to describe your creation without referencing another game. This might be the only time you're going to get it in front of my eyes, and I know nothing because I've never played the two games you used to compare it to (never even heard of one of them in fact), so I'm not going be hyped or follow it. (While it's true there's a trailer, I'm not in a spot where I can watch it.)

Marketing is important to success, use your limited eyeball time well!

Oh, thanks, helpful advice 👍 I overestimated the popularity of the "B" game 😛, I guess.

This looks very interesting! Keep up the good work.

The preview for poe2 was very exiciting. Was sad to see its still so far from release. But let it cook and be done right.

forgotaboutlaye, w Starfield's animated trailers offer some player motivation for life among the stars

I watched two of the three, and really enjoyed them. Sure, I'd much rather see more gameplay, and they didn't do anything to sell me on the game itself, but they were enjoyable nonetheless

NotTheOnlyGamer, w Anglers rejoice: Sega is giving out free Steam keys for Sega Bass Fishing, the Sega Dreamcast bass fishing classic
@NotTheOnlyGamer@kbin.social avatar

Unless it comes with the old fishing controller (and that controller is also compatible with the Big sections of Sonic Adventure), I'm not interested. Half the fun of fishing games is using a goofy controller.

Fairy, w Ubisoft thinks it's okay to delete your games library now apparently

Apparently this is only for accounts with no games purchased/linked to them.

Norgur,

Until through some "error" ab account with games gets trashed. The reaction of Ubisoft's social media team is what worries me. They didn't go "no worries folks, this is just for empty accounts and we give warning even then". They went "we don't want this to happen, but y'all make us do it because you don't log in like we want you to".`

It’s sick that people are threatening developers over a game. I’m glad they got the guy mentioned in this article, but for the devs who make the game and receive threats… I hope they get some justice.
