I buy all my games on Epic Games Launcher becomes it has less DRM than steam. If you have kids, they can’t play 2 completely different games on two different computers.

It’s like your kid not being able to play Mario kart on her switch because her brother is playing Halo on Xbox in another room. Steam doesn’t support that. Epic games doesn’t have a problem with you having 2 different games being played on 2 different computers, so I buy my games there whenever I have the choice because it’s the more consumer-friendly platform.

Steam does support that tho. That’s what Family Sharing is. And it works really well.

Now, if you wanted to play the same game at the same time, that’s on a single Steam account, that you can’t do. But I’m pretty sure you can’t do that on EGS, either. Not without 2 accounts and 2 copies of the game.

No, it explicitly does not work that way. If you share a game to another family member, and that family member plays that game, you are not allowed to play any other game at all on steam.

“A Steam library can only be used by one user at a time to play one game at a time. The same is true if that library is being accessed by another user via Family Sharing.”

I know the wording there is fucked up, but have you used it? Because you can play two separate games at the same time with it, but you can’t play the same exact game as each other. I use it all the time to play stuff my sister has that I don’t, while she plays something else.

Unless you’ve got some weird special option, they’re right, as soon as you launch a game in your library, it becomes unusable to family sharing, my wife and I use it but it’s very limiting in that aspect.

It even notifies you when the “family library” becomes available.

Is there any ethical AI, all they do is take data people posted online and then profit off it. With the original creators not getting a say if their data gets used or any profits derived from it.

Though Getty did introduce their new AI today that was only trained on images they own the copyright to. Arguably, still not ethical, but at least it's things they own the data for.

I didn't dig too much into it, but my guess would be no.

Even if you could verify, it's still an ethical grey area as it's taking works they paid photographers to generate new works potentially without crediting the original photographers? Their own website tells people they have to credit the original photographer, and I'd be surprised if the AI lists all the works it used to create it.

If your training is from in house sources possibly, although then you’re limited on sample size.

We did this in a previous org. Basically, we had a bunch of user-generated data, users would then classify a sample of that data, and then we’d train our model on those classifications.

I don’t see how it would work in game dev though, unless they’re using AI to customize an NPC’s behavior based on the player’s actions (i.e. teaching an enemy to block player attacks). Generating models and whatnot would just have too small of a data set to work with.

I'm appreciative of some of the stuff they've done. Of the newer games I've only played Odyssey, but having an open world game that fully supports stealth is something I can't get somewhere else.

Other open world games feature very light stealth mechanics, but not to the degree that Odyssey deliberately designed its world and outposts to have spots to hide and maneuver in stealth. It's the only one where I've been able to actually play an open world game as a stealth game where combat only happens if I mess up (or it's one of the unique bosses).

The stealth genre is almost on its deathbed compared to the 2000s, so I'm glad there's a few big games still carrying the torch, or maybe just this series when it comes to the AAA space.

I think regardless of timeline, Valve accomplished what they wanted which was higher adoption of PC gaming through handheld gaming. There’s been an explosion of PC handhelds in the market after their release and they’re the main storefront for it (even if it’s running windows). Their big picture mode worked extremely well with my Ally. Even though I initially bought the device as an extension for my Xbox with GamePass, I’ve found myself buying a bunch of games on Steam.

Very excited for this.

I really enjoyed the base game, I just waited a little after launch (like always) to play with some bug fixes updates.

I was just coming back from a gigantic period in my life where I didn’t game much, and never on PC - Cyberpunk was the first AAA I played right after coming back. This meant I wasn’t following the game for years and building a lot of expectations, and it didn’t disappoint me because “mechanic X was missing!” because I never knew I could expect X anyways.

I also wanted something a bit more linear, but still an open world, which is something this game balances pretty well.

The end result is that I really liked it. In fact, I prefer it to GTA V, which is a game that, in my opinion, struggles with balancing it’s mission structure with the actual game world.

LucidNightmare, w Relogic: Makes a statement on Unity and donates 100k to Godot and FNA with a further 1k a month moving forward.

You love to see it. Putting their money into these open source engines will hopefully give those devs a better work-life balance and enable them to do even greater things. 🤘
