I bought NMS on release, even got a new PC for it and man was I disappointed by the missing content. Worse, after every time I tried to get back into it with some update my last efforts were broken. My base was broken or my home planet changed in a bad way or suddenly I had to manage a colony which I did not enjoy or my ship got lost due to a glitchy starbase. Every new patch I’m reminded of that and now I don’t bother to start it any more. I hope y’all have so much more fun with it than I had.
Glad they included such an expansive space combat update in this release. For a while it seemed like ship combat was an afterthought, but this update really does add depth to it.
In all honesty does anyone actually care anymore? Like, I really have no interest in a new Mass Effect or Dragon Age at all now, and I loved both series at one point. Andromeda was a mess, Dragon Age 4 was shaping up to be a live service shitshow until they abandoned it (allegedly), and this is the same Bioware that gave us Anthem. At this point I’d rather they just let both series die
Let BioWare die at this point, honestly. Like, they’ve done nothing of true note in the last decade under EA. At this point, even if they were freed from their prison, so much of the talent that made BioWare worth a damn is gone anyway.
That’s another good point, Bioware now is so far removed from Bioware then that any Dragon Age or Mass Effect may as well be them selling you fanfiction. And I would have no faith in a new Bioware IP after Anthem so at this point why keep it around?
One of the people they just laid off was the writer who created Varric fricking Tethras. I don’t have any faith in them anymore.
I want Dreadwolf to come out just to finish the story they’ve been setting up in the books, comics, and Inquisition, but I’ve accepted we might never get it. They might rush out a book like they did with the quarian arc in Andromeda when Dreadwolf falls through, maybe.
Writers are the cornerstone of any epic rpg. Character development is crucial. Getting rid of the people behind both of those pillars is shooting a nice hole in your foot
Andromeda was half decent (gameplay) the story was kinda lack luster but there was a few good moments with the characters. I would love a fifth installment. They should say screw dragon age and put that into the grave where it belongs
The gameplay was actually pretty good, but the writing, the setting, the characters, none of the rest of it was any good. I gave up after the first planet because I just didn’t care about anything at all, and I don’t have any faith that Bioware could even reach that level any more
For the three of us who bought a PSVR2, the foveated rendering they finally added with this update is fantastic. Still not as good as playing it on a TV, but so much better than the blurry mess it used to be.
While it requires setting up your on site to take money, Steam has always allowed developers to create keys for free. They can sell or give those away for 100% of the revenue indefinitely.
They probably forgot to slap a season pass and lootboxes on it. Bet half of the team is hard at work putting in annoying mechanics that can be skipped by money and carving out content for DLCs.
They just fired 50 devs while working on two games simultanously. I wouldn’t be surprised if BioWare doesn’t manage to finish either one before going bankrupt.
At this point, I won’t believe Dreadwolf is actually coming out until it’s on store shelves, and I don’t think for a moment there’s actually going to be another ME game…Not one made by BioWare, at any rate.
Sony should sweep in and take the studio off EA’s hands and rebuild it. Sony is missing a studio capable of making fantasy RPGs in their roster. give them the Decima engine and see what they can do without having the burden of EA meddling.
Might be nice if they’d even comment on the Mac version which they supported from day one, but then went silent (beyond saying it was delayed) when it was time for release.
I was similarly disappointed but IIRC it was delayed to September 6th.
I wonder how will it run in Act 3 since DX11 is so much more performant than Vulkan and I assume they use either MoltenVK or straight Metal. It’s likely the reason for the delay.
9/6 is the PS5 date. Still no word from Larian on the Mac date - the last I heard was when they originally announced it would be delayed, and that they didn’t want to give a date and not meet it. What worries me is that they are willing to give these other dates - PS5 & Xbox - but not even a window for Mac.
They were touted as having their engine running on Metal, and it was one of the first major apps to port to Apple Silicon. The early access worked fine. Unless there was something in the later acts that really broke performance, I can’t see why they didn’t go ahead and release with the engine they had.

I just checked Wikipedia which I think I got it from and it states 9/6 but the link cited as source doesn’t state it anywhere.
They probably have no contractual date with Apple, so they’re prioritising the ones where they do. Also, PS5 and Xbox are both probably bigger markets than Mac.
How is it bad for a game to only be available through a shitty CCP subsidiary’s shitty storefront that no one wants to contaminate their computer with?
I hope there will be an option to play with hidden HUD, including crosshair. I’ve really gotten used to playing with nothing on screen (Tarkov, TOTK, HZD,etc).
Starfield was originally planned to be released 2 years ago. But when Microsoft took over they gave Bethesda another 2 year development time, which they mainly used for polishing if you believe the talk about that. In that case it’s not surprising that the requirements are more comparable to games of 2 years ago instead of current releases.
