80 CUs is 7900xt, 4080 level. Would be surprising in APU.
I just got a 7840hs mini pc with 780m igpu, and oculink for future. Very happy with it as I can play beyond all reason in 1200p high settings compared to 1650s that did 1080p in low settings. 60 fps with amd chill, and mostly under 80C, with few peaks around 85C.
The 890m, AI370 are $700usd more, and under 25% improved gpu. 2x or 3x the 890m gpu performance can be acquired for $700 oculink solution.
80CU APU, is going to be priced higher than AI 395’s 40 CU APU, which is already priced shockingly high. The next Xbox being a full PC can justify pricing, but usual gaming console pricing model is break even based on selling locked in games (razor blades) at high prices. 395 use case has mostly been to have a very large ram LLM at relatively slow speed. APUs for relatively portable mini pc mid range GPU tasks with external GPU enhancement for “desktop scenario” seems like a sweet spot, or laptop with mobile gpu for more combined portable performance per $, seems like it would always have an edge over “bleeding edge APU” for most people.
Nvidia doesn’t really care about the high-end gamer demographic nearly as much as they used to, because it’s no longer their bread and butter. Nvidia’s cash cow at this point is supplying hardware for ML data centers. It’s an order of magnitude more lucrative than serving consumer + enthusiast market.
So my next card is probably gonna be an RX 9070XT.
What’s it like these days? I sometimes miss the heyday of like 2011-2014 EVE, but I stopped keeping track of what was going on some time after quitting. I also kind of lost faith in the direction it was going and what CCP was doing.
As someone who’s been around the block, is it in a good state now?
Depends what you are looking for. If you enjoyed capital warfare, no. They are expensive now. If you like big tidi fests, sure. What were you doing/enjoying back then?
To be honest, I was flying with a specific group of people and when the main FC/corp leader quit I sort of just quit too. So I’m not sure I’d come back regardless, unless he miraculously comes back. But it’s been like 8 years now. Also, EVE consumes your whole life and it’s kind of nice to have time to play other games.
I was doing primarily small gang warfare, as well as some Blops dropping. And bombing runs whenever the opportunity presented itself. For income I was stocking the market of our home station, which I really enjoyed doing.
If this is true I’d expect it to be tied to a new piece of hardware launched at the same time, steam controller 2 or deckard to demonstrate some new synergy between gameplay and valve wanting to push groundbreaking tech for hl 3
I won’t lie, I’m only interested in the new Pro controller. My old one has slight stick drift which absolutely sucks of course but it’s over 7 years old and feels so much better than anything else on the market. I also prefer the Nintendo button layout over Microsoft’s so it’s an easy purchase.
I have, but going by several reviews the Switch controller still faires the best for me and I hope the new one will do even better. There just isn’t anything that can compete right now.
It also didn’t release as a physical copy. New digital releases in the UK at least are always pretty expensive, whereas with physical copies there’s at least a chance of a small discount from a retailer.
This made me realize I haven’t played it yet. I looked up the sales prices and realized why. It hasn’t really gone on sale for a price that I would be comfortable paying. I loved the first one back in the day. I haven’t tried control yet. Might give that a go in the meantime
