Quicky, do games w Sable is free on Epic until tomorrow

This fucking game. I wanted to love it so much, but so many game-killing bugs wrecked it for me.

The style, the atmosphere, the lore, the whole chilled out vibe, everything just appealed.

Then bug after bug, some which hard-locked save games, just ruined it for me.

Shedworks, the developer, appears to have disappeared off the face of the earth, and we got one or two patches immediately after launch that fixed some performance issues, but there was so much more to fix.

I’d love to play a polished version of this.

I have never encountered the bugs you describe. Maybe you got a bad version?

Quicky,

Xbox version. Buggy as hell.

Quazatron,
@Quazatron@lemmy.world avatar

That may be the reason. I play the GoG version on Linux and it’s great.

I tried playing it for a few minutes but I genuinely got incredibly lost and dropped it because if I wanted to err without goal I’d just go look in my fridge

Post the image of the guy being disappointed it’s Epic lol

Oh no! Someone doesn’t like the thing we like due to shitty business practices! How dare they!!!1!

caseofthematts,

I’ve got my own moral stances and companies I won’t give the time of day because of that.

But damn, do I not post about them every single time someone mentions them, or in threads where people are enjoying themselves. Get over yourself.

simple, do games w Redout 2 free on Epic Games

Very nice. I played the first one and it was alright, hopefully the sequel can be fun too.

Doesn’t appear to be, at least from Beehaw’s perspective. It’s possible you saw another post on a separate instance, as it was crossposted to several instances.

sederx,

Oh no I meant the game was already given for free in the past

SomethingBurger,

Yes, from December 2020.

ryathal, do games w Epic First Run: six-month exclusivity for 100% revenue share for developers

While it requires setting up your on site to take money, Steam has always allowed developers to create keys for free. They can sell or give those away for 100% of the revenue indefinitely.

merthyr1831,

Humble Bundle does pretty much that from what I can tell. Surprised more games don’t come to the humble store

FfaerieOxide, do gaming w Epic is now offering 100% of the revenue to exclusive games for the first 6 months, up from 88%
@FfaerieOxide@kbin.social avatar

They gonna pull this sort of anti-competitive shit with BandCamp?

Psychonaut1969,
@Psychonaut1969@kbin.social avatar

I haven't seen anything yet.. they already got some exclusives not on Spotify, but I believe the artists are deciding what platforms they release on. As an end user, all I have noticed so far are improvements to thier android app (Playlists finally, and bringing back the shuffle all feature).

otp, do games w Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Platinum Edition is free to claim on Epic

I got the base game for free a few years ago.

I played and enjoyed it so much I bought the Platinum edition…on Steam, because it was cheaper there. (And other reasons, but this was the biggest one)

One of the few games I actually went out and bought thanks to Epic. I feel slightly bad for not buying from them, lol

CrabAndBroom,

I did the same thing with Surviving Mars lol. Played it on Epic, liked it, bought the whole thing and all the DLC on Steam. Actually I did that with Dredge too now that I think about it.

_cryptagion, do games w Dredge is free to claim for the next 24 hours on Epic

Time for the weekly Valve fuckbois griping about how Epic is destroying the fabric of reality.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

On one hand: I also hate Epic.

On the other: It’s free. When did everyone start bitching even about the free games? Claiming all the free games and never actually using the store, if anything, hurts Epic. You don’t even have to use EGS to download them! You can use a 3rd party app like Heroic.

_cryptagion,

Don’t bother trying to understand it. They’ll tell you it’s because Epic is “anti-consumer”, while ignoring anything Valve does that’s shitty. The same people will post in other threads how there’s “no good billionaires”, then come to this community and post shit like “all hail our savior, Lord GabeN”.

In truth, it boils down mostly to them seeing PC gaming as Valve’s fiefdom, and Epic is aggressively trying to force their way into the market, which upsets them. The fact they feel comfortable putting all of PC gaming into the hands of a single mega corporation is insane, because when Valve inevitably goes under, we’re going to lose a lot of gaming history all at once. Not to mention, it was Steam that was responsible for the advent of not owning the games you buy, something I consider to be one of the worst things to ever happen to gaming.

Hate to break it to you, but you didn’t own your games even when they were still sold physically. The standard liscence agreement for software as we know it today started in the 80’s, and it was mostly because of Microsoft.

Valve is, however, responsible for lootboxes which first saw action in TF2.
