I'll admit I'm not super knowledgeable on the space outside of the Deck, but it really feels like most of these things are pushing power without any consideration to usability. You're a PC, you need convenient methods of handling PC input and plenty of input options to handle the number of inputs. Without that or a handheld-friendly mode in Windows, you're probably dead in the water. Props where they're due to the Legion Go on that front for trying something new with its joycon mouse.
In the past, Ayaneo has been somewhat reticent to discuss its plans concerning SteamOS and as this new venture is not a direct collaboration with Valve, I should imagine that they want to test the waters first.
If this is not a collaboration with Valve, then I assume it's not SteamOS. Maybe HoloISO that is created by "fans" with the aim of installing an operating system that is extracted and rebuild from the final installation on the Deck (if I understand the project right). The goal is to have HoloISO be able to install on systems other than the Deck itself, to get a similar experience. Maybe the Ayaneo will make use of HoloISO instead?
The project still needs funding and time to be build, so nothing is set in stone. Valve also works "hard" to bring SteamOS to other systems, so maybe there is a plan to do this. Now the Deck OLED is out, Valve probably have more time to do this (SteamOS 4.0?). Either way, I am very happy and curious what will happen next.
I always just left trigger spammed to either center the camera or lock onto the monster. The claw always seemed a great way to give yourself some kind of RSI.
I know everyone loves Valve, but it feels super weird to be celebrating a monopoly so much and so ferociously. (I know Steam isn’t a technical monopoly. We don’t need to have that discussion)
Gaben is old, and he’s gonna retire. It’ll likely be a lot sooner than anyone here is comfortable with. When Valve gets sold, or even when gaben isn’t in total control anymore, things are going to start changing, and there isn’t going to be a healthy, diverse marketplace to soften that.
There is a very good chance that the PC platform will be a really horrible place because of the lack of consumer choice in which they can purchase and play games.
Steams biggest competition isn’t another launcher, it’s piracy. Gabe is wise enough to know that, if the next guy to take over is a chode they’ll learn the hard way.
I’ve done 2 full playthroughs. Have a 3rd solo started, and I have a multiplayer campaign going too.
It has truly been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a game like this. My two completed games, while similar (I was a ‘good guy’) the overall story and experience was different. Conversations that didn’t happen the first time, entire locations I missed. Since EA this game has been a 10/10.
I recently finished the game for the first time and was thinking about to get Phantom Liberty extension too. Now I have to wait a bit longer. BTW in the article this part:
To ensure everyone knows it's not kidding, it even threw in a little fire emoji.
The fire emoji. It makes everything believable. xD
