$1118 over 15+ years isn’t too bad

tatann, do games w 'Oh god': There's a buried Steam help page that shows how much money you've ever spent on the platform, and you may not want to know

Less than 1000€ for dozens of games I’ve played, I think the average price I payed is 15€, so I don’t feel robbed

I mostly buy on GOG whenever possible though, even if it means I have to wait a year or two

not for nothing, the one-standard-multiple-manufactuters thing has been done before with sony and microsoft both involved. the real truth of this article is that the people yearn for MSX

joking aside i'd love to see something like that come back, because you get the convienence of a set standard that makes games Just Work like they do on consoles while offering way more options to consumers. i guess once the floodgates open on third party steamOS machines we'll be halfway there

By sheer compatibility, we’re well more than halfway there.

embed_me, do games w Generative AI Game about People Using AI to Solve Crime that Somehow Isn't a Cautionary Tale
@embed_me@programming.dev avatar

The plot reminds me of that futurama episode where Fry becomes a cop and the cops use a robot that can simulate the future to stop a crime before it’s happened.

It was a really funny episode, if they took it as inspiration I think it will be a killer plot for a game. I mean even Isaac Asimov’s short stories hinged on AI being unpredictable by humans. (Although, in his stories some of the AI actually worked well) But I just know that that’s not what they have in mind here and I have no hope of someone using AI properly, in its natural domain (ie Sci-fi)

SpicyColdFartChamber,

That was a parody of minority report. You should check it out if you haven’t.

Also if you are into anime, you should check out psychopass which covers a similar theme.

If you like roguelikes like ancient dungeon i would highly suggest until you fall and for a more story based game if you haven’t played lone echo 1 and 2 you’re in for a treat.

ShovelKnight, do games w The Simple Act of Buying a Graphics Card Is the Defining Misery of PC Gaming in 2025

I am not really interested in modern gaming, but I needed a 16GB NVidia GPU for the AI/ML course I’m currently doing. I wanted to get a 16GB 4060Ti, but they were out of stock literally everywhere. In the end I gave up and got a 12GB 3060. It’s not as good as what I wanted, but at least it was cheap and readily available.

turnip, do games w Baldur's Gate 3 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 show that the future of RPGs is in games way more ambitious, weird and unexpected than anything Bethesda and Bioware have to offer

Should I buy Baldurs Gate 3, its extremely expensive still.

lostbit,

Its a regular price these days. Tho if your not in a hurry just wait for a pricr drop (can wishlist it on deals.gg to get notifed)

drunkpostdisaster,

Depends. How badly do you want to play the game bioware wishes it could put out?

turnip,

Is it insanely good, like Factorio level polish, or was it just hyped due to recency bias?

castlebravo404,

Worth the hype IMHO.

drunkpostdisaster,

Worth it. Absolutely, it’s got both great game play and story and more so then any other rpg of its type it feels like your character and the choices you make are actually pretty major. It let’s you be more evil then in almost any other game if you are into that.

Damage,

70% good, 30% hype

snugglesthefalse,

It’s not bad but I personally couldn’t get into it, too much dnd.

CaptPretentious, (edited )

I will always recommend the game. But holding to a budget is more important.

brucethemoose,

It’s polished and undoubtedly one of the best games of all time.

My only gripe is that I find the pause-based combat lengthy, though not bad.

That seems kind of shitty, if he only cheated to qualify but otherwise won the prize without cheating

Cheating to qualify makes his participation invalid imo. Someone else could have taken his place and changed the entire thing

I honestly loved it almost instantly, especially with the aspect that each settlement is a short time investment of a gaming session with semi randomized goals and build orders to get to those. While there are still overarching goals for the game as a whole.
