Like if you push a button in the direction your character is facing you move in that direction. I’m going to patent that shit.
Then I’m going to patent that if you push button and the opposite direction of your character, if it’s a 3D game you turn around. And then I have ab separate patent with having the character walk backwards.
I’ll just take the absolute piss out of the most basic things and absolutely everything I can find. And then throw a bunch of frivolous patent lawsuits at Nintendo.
I know it’s petty. But maybe Nintendo, like many other corporations in the gaming industry, have just been around maybe a little too long and have lost the vision and the purpose. Cuz at this point Nintendo’s not even trying. But they are heavily relying on nostalgia for sales. They’re more known for being a litigious company than a gaming company.
Dragon Ball was using capsules to store things long before Pokemon did. And Dragon Ball Z, which ended in Japan in '96 had already done storing 'creatures in capsules. Saibamen for one. And after the Saiyan saga Bulma puts her dead friends in coffin capsules.
This is what everyone wanted! Another “as a service” game! Oh, and look, a store front!
and partner with some “Sims” players to sell their own custom in-game content through the EA store as “Creator Kits.”
Would those “players” be musicians? 100% someone is already trying to figure out how to “collab” with Katy Perry. Big IPs of other franchises (movies/games/anime)? Are they going to do limited timed events to really push the FOMO? Did they see Fortnite and thought “Lets do that!”.
I got a confirmation on my MIG being shipped just a few days ago. Also finally managed to cancel my Nintendo online subscription, they couldn’t have made that more difficult.
Coming to you this September, Patch 7 rolls out the perfect escape with split screen updates, brand new cinematics for evil endings, plenty of bug fixes, plus our official modding toolkit which we talked more about in our last Community Update!
This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....
I had to go watch it. You’re not wrong, it tells you absolutely nothing about the game. Everything looked per-rendered. It reminded me a lot of the Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer from 2017… where it could just as easily be a CGI movie than a video game.
I recently booted up Half-Life 2 to replay it. I have played the absolute shit out of this game before, so 60% of it just feels like a drag to me now. It was such an amazing game but it’s sort of spoiled for me after I’ve played it too much....
I want to throw out Mario Bro 3, Tetris, Dr Mario, and Sonic Mania. Just pick up and go, no long term commitment, always fun solo but you can add a friend anytime. Simple but rewarding game play loop.
You know it. Think of all the skins, decals, tires, and practical effects for the car. Then there’s going to be all the clothes for your character! Oh and spray paint for some reason, every game needs spray paints that everyone hates so it can fill up slots in the loot box!
They had a turd. They polished it up a little. It’s still the same turd.
Their ‘modern’ engine is only modern to them, but it’s pathetically behind everyone else. I can only imagine the spaghetti code that thing is at this point.
I never played the first game. But I loved BG3 so much (having never played BG1 or BG2) and it was suggested I’d probably like this game too. I worry because I keep seeing it compared to Dark Souls, which isn’t a game I liked.
My girlfriend has never really gamed. But she’s now forced to move less than she would like to (health problem) and she’s getting bored. I was thinking of introducing her to a game or two that we could play together. She’s not the real action game type, and seeing as she has no experience with controller/mouse and keyboard...
I liked some of the ideas of the game. But found the story and gameplay loop uninspiring and dull. And the sound design, awful. Before you get to the first hub I’d already turned off the music.
Got some great designs and some great sets. Certain ideas somewhat reminds me of chrono trigger.
Except you definitely make up for it and probably pay more (depending on what hardware cost your comparing to of course) on the consoles. All three consoles have subscription-based services that are more or less required. Some of the controllers for the consoles are as much or more than a keyboard or mouse. You rarely see a price decline of any of the games (especially Nintendo), and certainly nothing as near as what you’ll find on PC.
So consoles are a cheap upfront cost that’s recouped overtime. I’m not saying that consoles are definitely more expensive, but the true cost of ownership is somewhat muddled.
The IP was my only interest. Games like this I get bored with so I generally avoid. But the views of the school looked great and I’ve always wanted to walk around it, like the fantasy version of it. I’ve been to the real set and walked around that which is cool. My only complaint is I bought it on PC so I didn’t get to see Azkaban.
Have you been spending hours trying to pass a level? Or maybe you are completely addicted to a newly bought game. Do you have a question about a game or would like to share something else? In the Weekly Discussion Thread, you can do it all!...
I’m actively trying not to start up my 4th run. I beat it three times back to back. And I have a multiplayer game going. I also have a slew of partially started games. But I have to give it a break because there’s a point where it’s a hobby and there’s a point where it’s an addiction for me
I’d say if you’ve ever wondered what it be like to just wander about the castle, it’s well worth it. It’s cheaper than going to say universal studios or the Warner Brothers lot in London…
But there’s actually very little gameplay in the castle around areas you recognize from the books or movies. It doesn’t take long until you’re throwing into a very generic game with a thin coat of Harry Potter paint applied. There’s a lot of samey quests and combat doesn’t really evolve ever.
BG3 was for me (in 2023). I did 3 full runs. There’s never been a game where I completed it and immediately started another campaign. There’s been games I’ve considered it and pondered it but never did it.
I’ve done 2 full playthroughs. Have a 3rd solo started, and I have a multiplayer campaign going too.
It has truly been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a game like this. My two completed games, while similar (I was a ‘good guy’) the overall story and experience was different. Conversations that didn’t happen the first time, entire locations I missed. Since EA this game has been a 10/10.
I mean, she’s a cleric by default. Insanely useful no matter what your team composition is. And flexible enough to compliment any setup you want. What are you going to do, NOT use Guidance in your run!?
Light and War are really strong. By either reducing enemy chance to hit, to not take damage in the first place, or ensuring your team gets those hits in, reducing enemy count and the amount of damage you can take.
Or, hear me out, we cut out the most expensive part of game development.
Upper management. They cost the most, contribute the least (if anything), and can be replaced by someone who not only take 25% of what some of these CEOs make, but do a better job.
The BASE cost remains the same. They then started finding ways market a spreadsheets with of ‘versions’. Then they added ‘micro’ transactions, battle passes, etc. Or they just shut down the old game so you have to buy the new version to keep playing.
And the cost of games has risen faster the minimum wage in the US.
So will all the multi millionaires and billionaires video games were making… I think $60 was more than fine for a large studio produced game.
Large area of nothingness. Nothing really to explore or a reason too. Combat is strait up discouraged. The quality of the story falls off a cliff right quick. The Zora zone has the best story and NPCs.
Crafting clearly should have been a thing, it at least a real use for gems. And cooking was under done in so many ways. The only thing you need to know how to make was the baked durian fruit.
It’s honestly a victim of the trend that existed of every game needing to be as big as possible and be open world.
And hopefully you don’t like archery, because Nintendo figured you’d need to really work to buy arrows so you can launch a few. They made sure to patch out an exploit (on a single player game) that made it easy to get arrows.
The game could have and should have been better. I know people will get mad, because people lost their minds when it came out and people dared to not give it a perfect score… but this game really felt like a tech demo… to see what they could do and see what was popular. I forced myself to beat it, haven’t touched it since.
I think it’s due to the little guy making a huge wave that other people don’t feel they’re “allowed” to make. These other devs work on “AAA” companies working on big name titles from studios everyone has heard of so. But now a small, indie studio comes along with a grand slam and they don’t like it kind of makes them look bad by comparison. Showing you can release a big complex game without it being an absolute buggy mess, doesn’t need microtransactions, doesn’t need to sell millions of copies to be considered a success, and isn’t just a copy paste of the previous game with a handful of modifications made to slap a new “FOR SALE” label on it…
I do think it should be a bit harder to romance in this game. Because you don’t need to even try and to me that’s kind of a problem. Like I got people just sitting at camp who haven’t been in any quest with me or you just met and they’re already down for the dirty. Ready for the horizontal cha-cha. A little of the devil’s dance, a little campsite rodeo… I think a little effort isn’t asking too much. But they all acting like the Absolute is in my pants and they’re ready to get blessed!
Hi, did anyone tried to play BG3 in coop? How is this? Is this close to coop in Divinity: OS 2 or is it more solo focused game where coop isn’t so good?
But I played Coop with some friends over the internet and it was pretty easy. Only thing is good communication (verbal) with other people to sort of level set what ya’ll going to do because if you happen to play with someone who’s just dead set on being an agent of chaos… then you might not have a great time since they can at any point directly affect the world. You may want to do a pure hero/villain run but the other people might have other ideas. Plan ahead, don’t rush, and communicate.
The biggest thing, is scheduling with the other people. My friends it might be once a week for maybe 2 hours… which means we’re looking at least 2 years on a coop, lol.
