Lol, I get it but comparing the Switch 2’s tiny screen to €600-2000 OLED gaming monitors is fucking pointless (it’s where the 100 times slower comes from).
Yeah it’s not good, it’s just a weird thing to put in the headline. It’s like comparing a new hatchback with its competition, but then also say it’s slower than the newest Ferrari. I think that should be a given as it’s a fraction of the price
What “Mojo” are you talking about? The downfall and enshittification? Is that the “mojo” you want other companies to replicate? I fucking hate games “urinalists”. Nothing but shit, paid opinions and nonsense.
Nexus Mods is far too late on the monetization aspect. The restrictions placed on mod downloading sucks, and it hard pushes buying a membership. Not to mention they basically gave up on vortex and its a buggy mess even if you run it native.
They gave up on vortex to make the nexus mods app. Which is pretty impressive so far. I would recommend reading the articles from the makers of it that discuss how they are making it and why. It’s really interesting.
I have been using the nexus mods app for cyberpunk and it’s really slick and easy.
I wasn’t aware there was a replacement that was suitable. I will have to look into that soley on the fact there seems to be a linux native release, thank you.
Yeah I have my worries in the sale of nexusmods.com. But everything i have read about the new app is really promising and the people working on it have worked on other major mod managers in the past as well. So they seem to know what they are doing. It’s still in really early alpha so if you use it, make backups. Sometimes you have to completely uninstall and then reinstall to update which is annoying. But thats the cost of using alpha software.
I mean, they listen sometimes. But the point is, they, as any other company, were doing it to pretend that they are cool and progressive. As the result they got mostly negative reactions. So why bother with the effort if you’re only gonna reduce your already dwindling player base. IIRC, they were very small symbolic events anyway.
“Drats! My evil schemes are thwarted yet again by reason and sensible suggestions! When will this citric tyranny end?!?! Curse you, Lime! !!!”
Mr. Hacker falls to his knees, releasing a primal scream towards the heavens, torrential rain soaking his purple tuxedo, turning brackish as it mixes with his salty tears of rage.
That‘s the critical one. It‘s not about budget or outsourcing or whatever. It comes down to who makes the decisions and why. In a lot of cases it‘s people with a finance background who couldn‘t care less about the medium they‘re working with and that can be a major issue. Gaming being a bigger industry than music and film combined has attracted a lot of people who only think in dollar bills and it shows. Luckily however, there are still a lot of passionate teams with leaders who have a love for games.
I would be sad for the good artist and developers at bungie to loose their jobs. Hopefully they are more careful and the artist ends up happy with the result of their talks.
Yeah, i do hope it hurts their reputation and game sales. I think we 99% agree. Hopefully this results in better games without ethical lapses in the future.
When you have money and power then get caught doing something, ask for forgiveness and create a awful situation to pay the artist less and throw in that small tiny hint of “no more money later, no royalties, we own everything and you get small check….byeeeeeee” (aka the middle finger)
Laser scanning is possible, 6-axis milling machines exist and on a subminiature scale.
Why is there no 6-axis painting machine? I understand there are 3D printers that can do this, but 3D printing costs more than just making a die (or reusing a similar die from another model) at a certain scale.
Money. 6-axis isn’t cheap to run or maintain, especially at this scale with the desired precision. Add in the inherent issues of working with a variety of paint colors (especially aerosolized), subtract the ability to mask features from over spray. Their prices would have to make Warhammer look bargain bin in order to recoup the costs of the machine, maintenance and consumables.
Archon Studios recently introduced a mayor new technology into the hobby with Prismcast. This “printer” basically paints curved 2,5 D surfaces which you glue together to make a fully 3D model. AFAIK there is no way to make this technology in 3D
Painting them yourself is easier than ever though! Contrast paints and washes alone can accomplish amazing things. Trust me, if you’ve thought about trying, do it. You can absolutely do a better job than that in no time.
