No quick restart options for arcade-style games like shmups
Games that end up being too easy once you unlock of figure out one mechanic or technique like dash-dodge or iframe rolling and now the entire game is just the same loop
Unskippable or long intros or cutscenes (I sold Guilty Gear Strive because of that eagle thing…)
The spam garbage ripoffs on the Nintendo eShop that shouldn’t be there
Code in a box
When DLC characters are visible on character select even if you didn’t buy them (looking at those 10 greyed-out characters on SF6 are so annoying)
I’ve been a member of a 30+ gaming community for over 6 years now. There’s a lot of great people and you’ll find groups playing various games each night. We even have an active sim racing group that’s finishing up another race season on iRacing. It’s a discord community and if you’re interested, there’s a website you can apply. Over 30 Clan
I think it’s a neat thing but I actually hate how you need to integrate with discord to be considered. Joining a discord is one thing but I am so anti mixing services and avoid it if possible.
Is there an alternative to be involved without linking my discord account?
Unfortunately the community is entirely based around discord. They do a bit of screening to avoid people with lots of Steam bans, people under 30, or anyone who looks like they’d be toxic to the community. All applications are voted on by the community. It’s also a 501c non profit organization. I honestly haven’t had one negative experience with the community. I left all traditional forms of social media other than Lemmy and this discord community. Both have been fairly positive outlets in my life that I hope continue to grow and thrive.
Just skimming their website, they sound awesome. But then I saw they focus on online gaming. That explains the rigid recruitment. I play single-player games. They don’t have anything for me. But it looks neat for those who play those games.
(I’m not the guy you’ve been talking to, I just happened in here, in case you see me in the message centre, wouldn’t want it to be confusing.)
I posted because I’m looking for adults to play games with. Most of the games I play are single player, but there are a few that are multiplayer that I’d like to play with other people, and most randoms you find in lobbies or in related Discords are children or just too young for me to personally relate to, so I don’t really want to play with them.
I started playing ARC Raiders recently , and I only have one friend to play with, so I’ve been mostly playing solo.
I’m getting to the point where I’m not afraid of most robots, but I haven’t been part of any PVP yet that wasn’t just me dying before I knew who killed me. I want to explore the new map, but it’s heavily PVP-oriented, so going in with a full squad is going to be more interesting.
It’s a lot of fun with an entire group in Voice Chat. I normally shy away from PVP but so far this has felt great. It’s a nice mix of mainly PVE with occasional bursts of PVP
Damn all the negative bullshit is a real shame. I shared the info about this ROM hack with extra veracity in my circles in response to that, and now 3 new people who love being represented by those cool flags are happily trying it out. I’ll try myself later in the week, it looks really cool. Thanks for sharing it here.
I think Steam already presents a large enough market to be enticing for indie devs.
A quick check shows that Steam likely has more monthly active users than Xbox, PS5, or Nintendo. I’m sure a large portion of those groups overlap too. So indie devs are likely to develop for PC first.
While I’m excited for what they just announced, I don’t think it will significantly change these numbers.
It’s actually Voodoos that I speak of, I had have two Voodoo 2s (12MB versions) in SLI.
I was 1337 like that back in the day, buying top of the line graphic accelerators (I didn’t have that much money, it’s just that gfx cards didn’t cost as much as a cheap but perfectly usable car).
Back when Overwatch was fresh, had a couple randoms I wound up buddying and partnering up with pretty often for a few weeks. But one of them was a really annoying person on mic, who was just very clingy with the other guy. Then other guy wanted to drop clingy guy. Clingy guy freaked. They didn’t split but I eventually just stopped playing. Don’t know how their friendship ultimately turned out.
Bg3. I think the flaws are glaringly obvious and everyone has heard them already (inventory, everything after act 1, the main characters being generally gross) it’s just whether they’re a deal breaker for you personally. For me they are, especially inventory.
Same. I tried to just ‘go with it’ and ignore the flaws so that I could play multi-player with my SO. Act 2 was a slog. Act 3 is where we gave up completely. The only good part is that the whiny companions started dying on their own.
My favourite part of returning to camp was lying to gale that I’d found no magical items while having 4 characters invs basically overflowing with items I didnt want.
Wyll is the least immediately unlikeable but he’s boring and I hated talking to him
Laezel, shadow - clearly intended to parallel each other but listening to hard-headed morons clash between “we should murder everything” and “those people need medicine and my only medicine is pain” is not entertaining to me. Their “growth” doesn’t ever seem to fix this
Karlach I don’t have real complaints about
Gale never managed to grow out of being pompous and annoying
Dark urge probably the biggest character
There’s plenty of listicles and reddit posts with other complaints if you google “don’t like bg3 characters”.
I had the same feeling, didnt really like the characters they were weird but after modding some custom ones in I enjoyed it a lot more. I did keep astrlas ans shadow heart then put my own two characters to fill the party.
