If you filter by my username here, you can sift through my nonsense. As I’m guessing the title has given away, this is the sixth of these I have written up!
They’re meant to be weekly, but I don’t think I’ve been able to wait a full week between writing these yet!
If I never play a game by an indie dev that I bought, oh noooo what a catastrophe I gave an indie artist money without confirming they deserved it!
This meme should only make you feel slimey if you are dropping lots of money on AAA games where the artists who made the game don’t get even remotely a fair share of profits.
Otherwise, giving independent artists to make more art benefits everyone even if you don’t “use” / “need” the art.
It’s just the natural result of the sensationalizing of the news. Far more likely to get clicks or views saying something is fantastic or horrible. The grey areas don’t make $$$.
Walking dog, feeding homeless, getting drunk, magic the gathering and dnd with my other retired friends. That’s what I would do if I ever retired, which I probably won’t because of everything.
If we’re allowing Trilogy as one game then I’m going to step out a bit and go with AM2R. It’s extremely good and not “for a fan remake”, just straight up good.
If we’re talking single games made/published by Nintendo I’d go with Dread for 2D. I played through that 3-4 times back to back when it came out which was a totally new behavior for me. For 3D it’s Prime 1, still the best 3D example of the genre.
It’s such a shame that Western publishers were so ashamed of games Japanese origins. For me, being a teenager at the time, I wanted anything and everything Japanese I could get my hands on. I felt like this was the case for a lot of people at the time. It’s why anime and manga were exploding in popularity.
I know OP has a point that they weren’t asking your opinion on games, but I really like your stance of demanding performance from the game devs especially on older hardware. There is a culture of "must have newest hardware to run everything maxed " that’s just dumb consumerism.
They could improve this so much by saying something like “the last 2 minutes and 24 seconds of unsaved progress will be lost” instead. Just need to keep a time counter from last save, that’s not too much overhead.
Yes, I’ve used both on Windows 11. Unfortunately, does nothing for the User Interface size. But that’s exactly what I had to do to get the original games to run before this shameless flip.
I wonder if the Clean UI mod would help with your issue. Have you tried just adjusting your resolution though? I’ve heard 720p is the optimal resolution to avoid various bugs
