Traditionally, yes, but I do want to note that modern takes use it to also argue for cooperation, since working with with others is good for survival and passing on genes. They also are the first to tell people how bunk the alpha male crap is, and the fact a lone wolf is a dead wolf.
Evolutionary psychology. I think there’s real research in the field, but it’s drowned out by charlatans who invoke its name to lend credence to their made-up bullshit without the burden of scientific rigour.
Fatal Frame 1. I think it may be the only one with a different button map for the camera and it’s so annoying. I purposely only emulate it so I can remap the buttons.
I have set up the original Fallout (fully modded and running through Fallout 1n2), but it’s pretty hard to get into. Not because of the graphics, which are actually fine, but just because the mechanics are quite intricate and I think my ability to learn new gameplay mechanics is declining as I enter my mid-30s (I’ve only played Fallout starting with Fallout 3). I’m going to keep trying to get into it!
The classic Fallouts do have some quirks, but I hope you get through them and can get into it. They are absolutely amazing games, well worth your time.
As someone who played Fallout 2 as a teen it’s not your age, the first 2 have a lot of little things that end up having a big effect, and they are difficult. They do not pull their punches and will happily smack you around.
I restarted Fallout 2 many times when I was first playing it trying to figure out a build I liked.
No worries bud, the mechanics for 1 and 2 has always been shit. People sucked it up and played anyway because the writing was so damn good. If you can’t get into the game because the mechanics or controls are bad thats the games fault not yours.
I have been trying to replay both for years and everytime I give up after a few hours because the experience is just painful.
In the same way that someone replaced all rainbow flags with confederate battle flags in Spiderman, someone’s gonna mod the game to change the character’s texture, then racists will also be happy (unless the game is shitty idk).
I used to do this when I was below 30 and it works pretty well for a time. If you work and have a family, this is the only segment of time you can carve into, to create more time for yourself.
One thing to be careful about though- there is growing evidence that not getting enough sleep earlier in your life like this can lead to dementia when you’re older.
Seeing your posts really makes me want to pick up a lot of these games you’ve been playing. Tbh this is so much more effective to me than most modern game ads.
Introducing people to new games is one of my favorite parts of doing this. It makes me happy to hear that someone thought to give a game a try because of me
