I’d just say it’s an inspiration and say it’s a standard era 4x game. Graphically it’s a demake, but the cpu opponents are superior to those from V I’d say
Surely it's a clone given that it clones the game mechanics specifically? As in the rules of the game are 1:1 to Civ V, or as close as you'd need to be an expert in the game to tell the difference.
It’s weird because i feel like it looks like a flip, but it’s all decently well put together. I had one friend say it reminds them a bit of Goat Simulator, but i’m not sure exactly how they meant that
Kinda cool this kind of “work sims” keep popping up. Though I tend to lose interest in them after few hours, as the gameplay generally turns to routine and becomes fairly boring… that said I don’t even know how many hours I’ve spent driving a truck in Euro Truck 2 so… not all routines are the same, I guess?
Is the game fairly dimly lit or is your store just trying to save on electricity?
We bought some lights for the ceilings later to make it brighter because one of my friends was saying the same thing lol. There’s a toggle for reduced lights that’s on by default in settings, but i didn’t mess with that so maybe that will help too
Disclosure: That’s my baby. We’re not very active any more and while we were self hosted for a decade the development shifted to GitHub recently: github.com/maxr-dot-org/maxr/releases (I know but I don’t have the spoons for this any more so the active devs got to decide)
I’ll sure try Diablo, I totally forgot about that. Having played Diablo 2 Resurrected recently, that fits. Also want to try that Lego game, never heard about it, but it looks fun. And maybe some Icewind Dale, but not sure how that holds up :)
Their sticker price doesn’t have tax, ours has the insane VAT rates already included. That doesn’t help. We still get shafted for a lot of consumer goods.
Huge +1 recommendation for Manic Miners. Functionally a 1:1 remake with everything you could ask for and more- lots of settings, remastered levels, and a level builder. The (solo) dev got hired by Lego’s video game division afterwards
I clicked on this because I’ve enjoyed your previous articles, despite not having heard of Gardiner before. Maybe it’s just the kind interests we Lemmy users have, but he’s ticking every box for the kind of thing I like to read!
And even more so that you’d trust it would be worth a read purely because my other posts have been a nice read! That is so nice to read - thank you!
I find I check in with Gardiner’s blog each day now, I love clean and ‘pure’ sites and articles where the intention isn’t affiliate links or ads, or begging for new Patreon supporters…just the topic at hand!
whenever i find a game that i actually want to keep playing i give a quick prayer to the gods, thanking them for their mercy
go figure that game was The Long Dark this time, only thing more violently autistic than a realistic canadian survival game would be a railway planning ga- sigh
Fools Rush In appears to be a fannish remake of the PC-98-only versus STG Touhou Yumeijikū ~ Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream, for modern computer systems, released around 2017, though it's a bit jank on the gameplay side of things. Caught wind of it from a couple Jaimers vids on this a while back.
And then you have Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, an AA indy gem that goes for what, 50€ ?
80€ games are a symptom of the marketing cancer that plagues modern AAA games. No need for a 1000 person team, what they need is passion for the medium, and a dedicated team that isn’t impeded by executive greed.
One of the most obvious signs of this is the fact that EA had a small team of about 10 people who made one of the best Star wars games that have been released in years. Of course it’s EA, so they screwed it up by shutting the servers down eventually but still, much better than Battlefront II
They are pointing out that there’s loads of good games on Steam that don’t cost $80, given the prevalence of such good games there really isn’t justification for that price point.
The picture shows that a game that is yet to be released (I actually thought it was already out but apparently not) is only £35 ($45) If you want the bundle which gives you two games it’s only an extra £1
Personally I’m not that interested in snow runners it just seems like an infuriating game, but the fact that you can get it for virtually nothing is interesting.
Yeah, I’m not sure about the mechanics, but I’m sure plenty of palms are greased to keep gas prices low. It’s one of the things people like to blame on the president.
