You mean like it’s game where you could rush/grush and mass level, make mfer, farm stuff and make your pvp characters with skill trees and skill synergies?
SC has been working on this problem since before 2021, but no they didn’t invent the concept. They are attempting to implement it at a scale that nobody has been able to do as flawlessly as SC requires. If they pull it off, it’ll be an incredible leap.
There are no game engines that do completely seamless server meshing at the moment. SC is trying to do that.
You acknowledged yourself that the idea is older than whatever Minecraft did, so how exactly did Star Citizen steal anything?
Did Minecraft steal the idea from EVE Online which only had “one” server since the beginning?
Besides, distributed computing is nothing new.
Or are you going to accuse Star Citizen of plagiarizing the idea of using Internet to connect to their servers since someone else also did that before?

I’m complaining that Star Citizen sells this technology as new and innovative even though it has been around for quite a while. Minecraft is just how I came into contact with this technology. I edited my post to reflect this.
The combat is really satisfying! People keep telling me I should prefer doing Baal runs over and over in Diablo 2 but I just can’t relate to that. Yeah, the game gets boring around level 70, but it’s fun up until that point, plus I am only on my third character because I’ve done once each season. I know there’s a mentality out there that a Diablo game is a failure unless it’s the only game you ever want to play for the rest of your life, (which, btw, I don’t even feel that about Diablo 2), but it’s ok to take breaks and play different games and come back to a game when it’s updated. I guess whatever people think Diablo 4 “should” be isn’t the game for me.
I think I’ve just been irreversibly damaged by Path of Exile’s fast gameplay, D4’s combat felt pretty tedious to me in comparison. Or maybe I’ve just had the wrong builds so far. I’ve been meaning to give it another shot but there have been so many other good games recently so I guess it’ll have to wait.

Yeah I don’t get that either. I have to skip leagues (seasons) in Path of Exile both because I wouldn’t have enough time to play other games if I didn’t and also because I tend to play it so much that I get tired of it and need a break afterwards.
Although it looks like you’re mainly focusing on single player games, Titanfall 2 is a great alternative to Call of Duty. Its movement is insane, it’s fanbase isn’t toxic and it’s actually fun.
Thumper is the best rhythm game I’ve ever played, and it was made by two ex-harmonix employees who were disappointed by the direction of rock band and similar titles. It throws away all the wish fulfillment and commercial stuff and the result is amazing.
I can second Thumper. I bought it on a whim, and have since bought it several more times for more devices. It's such a satisfying game to play. I had no idea about the Harmonix connection, but it makes total sense now that you've said it.
I don’t know what these would really be alternatives to, but I impatiently await every new game from Daniel Mullins Games. Inscryption was a fantastic deck builder and I more than got my monies worth out of it. I also follow Stranga Games pretty closely. Very small developer makes story focused retro style adventure games. No combat at all generally. So if you like a casual experience and that style of game, it might be something to look into.
