CarlsIII,

I’m pretty sure this was true before this guy said it

CarlsIII,

American/Euro Truck simulator are always on sale, and are rad

CarlsIII,

This sounds like a good thing. Maybe I will check the name out in the future.

CarlsIII,

I didn’t know “single planet” is a genre now

Good gaming experiences with no HUD? angielski

I’m starting to find that HUDs in games clutter the screen and take away from being fully immersed in the game. I like games that force you to pay attention to what’s going on in the game and not numbers/markers on the edges of the display. What are some of your favorite games to play with no HUD? Here are a few of mine:...

CarlsIII,

I don’t think it’d be possible to trick me into thinking I’m not playing a video game. You can have 0 UI, and I’ll still know I’m looking at a screen and pushing buttons. Maybe way off in the future when VR has gotten a lot better, sure, probably.

CarlsIII,

I feel like what you’re talking about is something more like “deep involvement”

CarlsIII,

This makes more sense to me than the “I believe I’m actually in the game world” definition I’ve been given before

CarlsIII,

That sounds like the same thing. If I actually believe I am actually the character, I have been tricked.

CarlsIII,

Sorry, when you said “have the mindset that you are the character”, that came across to me as believing you are the character. Also, I have been told in the past by people who care about immersion that that is what immersion is, so I’m still trying to grasp what it actually is.

I’m also struggling to see having a UI hurts immersion, especially since, as you say, reading a book is immersion, and a book is all text. I’m wondering, also, if maybe different people mean different things when they talk about immersion.

CarlsIII,

Is destiny complex? When I played, it felt basically like all you do is follow the arrow and shoot everything

CarlsIII,

Am I allowed to say Diablo IV? I really like Diablo IV

CarlsIII,

The combat is really satisfying! People keep telling me I should prefer doing Baal runs over and over in Diablo 2 but I just can’t relate to that. Yeah, the game gets boring around level 70, but it’s fun up until that point, plus I am only on my third character because I’ve done once each season. I know there’s a mentality out there that a Diablo game is a failure unless it’s the only game you ever want to play for the rest of your life, (which, btw, I don’t even feel that about Diablo 2), but it’s ok to take breaks and play different games and come back to a game when it’s updated. I guess whatever people think Diablo 4 “should” be isn’t the game for me.

Well, Cities: Skylines 2 is here, and it's another broken game release. angielski

I don’t really understand how people make the review threads, but we’re sitting at a 77 on OpenCritic right now. Many were worried about game performance after the recommended specs were released, but it looks like it’s even worse than we expected. It sounds like the game is mostly a solid release except for the...

CarlsIII,

Can you at least make perpendicular roads easily? I had trouble doing that in the first game.

CarlsIII,

Oh cool, maybe I’ll check out skylines 1 again

What is something (feature, modes, settings...) you would like to see become a standard in video games? angielski

I’ve been thinking about making this thread for a few days. Sometimes, I play a game and it has some very basic features that are just not in every other game and I think to myself: Why is this not standard?! and I wanted to know what were yours....

CarlsIII,

I want to be able to adjust the volume of the rain apart from everything else. Yes, I know a lot of games have an “ambient sounds” slider, but it usually includes other sounds too like Thunder, wind, animal sounds, and other stuff. I just want to make the rain louder. Rain is almost always too quiet in games, and it’s a tragedy.

CarlsIII,

To be fair, the speed options in those Sierra games actually adjusted the speed of the entire game, not just the walking; but I understand what you’re getting at.

CarlsIII,

Been enjoying cyberpunk but I keep going back to Xcom: Enemy Unkown

CarlsIII,

I had it at launch on ps4 and I enjoyed it for the most part. I just endured the low frame rate because it was near the end of the ps4 life cycle and it seemed every game coming out for ps4 at the time had a shitty frame rate, so I never considered it an issue unique to Cyberpunk.

CarlsIII,

GTFO with this PC Master Race bullshit

CarlsIII,

Don’t call them “master race” because of the shit connotations.

Sure, okay.

But they are superior, and consoles should be dead.

Hm

CarlsIII,

It’s basically killed gaming.

Wow, what a shame. I really liked video games.

CarlsIII,

… at $60 or more a pop, with no sales.

You keep repeating this lie, but I just saw Dragon’s Dogma for $6 on the PlayStation store a couple of weeks ago.

CarlsIII,

They could have clarified that in the headline

CarlsIII,

The people upset that they may have had the most secret ending spoiled for them in a headline aren’t going to click on that.

CarlsIII, (edited )

The bugs aren’t even the main problem. The problem was that the game was marketed as “every single decision you make could have massive impacts on the story” and it turns out there’s only one mission near the beginning that can change depending on what you do leading up to it and that’s it. You can make the game completely bug free and it wouldn’t change that the game did not live up to the promises.

That being said, I did enjoy kinda enjoy the game once I accepted it for what it was. Someday, I hope to play the game they were talking about when they were promoting this one.

CarlsIII,

Thank you for saying it. I’m getting tired of all of these “Starfield is NMS but worse” takes form people that have obviously played neither.

CarlsIII,

Wow they remade a game as big as starfield in only 48 hours? Just recording all the dialogue during that time would have been intense

CarlsIII,

“Built by redditors” is a pretty huge knock against it

List of specific video game communities on the Threadiverse, feel free to comment with more (kbin.cafe) angielski

When I mean “specific,” I mean things like something dedicated to a certain genre, a certain video game, to gaming suggestions, to asking whether you should buy a certain game… anything that isn’t just one catch-all for any video gaming topic. So I’m not including the various !games@instance or !gaming@instance links....

CarlsIII,

Same here, and the only search result is this thread

CarlsIII,

Buying a new car fixes your old car

CarlsIII,

Maybe I’ll start a rewatch of Brooklyn 9/9

Not counting games that were unfun because of bugs, what’s the most unfun video game that you’ve played and what made it unfun? (kbin.cafe) angielski

Most of the video games I’ve played were pretty good. The only one I can think of that I didn’t like was MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo DS. Dropped that pretty quickly. It was a long while ago, but I’ll guess it was because there were too many fetch quests and annoying controls.

CarlsIII,

I rented Sim Earth for SNES and it didn’t come with instructions. I had no idea what to do, and it was confusing and frustrating.

CarlsIII,

I’m Batman. Or am I? Yes, I am Batman.

CarlsIII,

Kinda disappointing since the NES games were included in the Kunio collection, and there are still no arcade versions included. I’d basically only be getting this for Super DD and DD Advance (DDIV is that shitty recent game that was only $4 if I recall). Would have been nice if they included other versions too like the Master System and others.

CarlsIII,

Wow video games use AI now? /s

CarlsIII,

I can’t stop playing this game. It’s just plain fun.

CarlsIII,

Finally, a genre of games with explosions in them.

It’s still a terrible name, and it is clearly meant to make you think of baby-boomers (the op is literally titled “OK Boomer Shooter.”) Also, the fact that there are things that go ‘boom’ in this game is not in any way the defining trait that separates them from other FPS’s, but rather that they are more fast-paced than other more realistic FPS’s. And even if you convince me otherwise on that point, I still hate the name and wish nobody would use it!

CarlsIII,

“Metroidvania” is a bad term too

CarlsIII,

Still better than boomer shooter
