simple, do games w "CULTIC: Interlude" now available!

Really loved Cultic. I wish they expanded on the survival mode and made it more in-depth, I really loved it.

Really loved Cultic.

A bit of a shame it was ignored by pretty much all GOTY discussions. It would have deserved to be at least in consideration but at least the outlets follow were not even aware of the game.

I wish they expanded on the survival mode

Well, it’s just one guy who does everything…

Puzzle_Sluts_4Ever, do games w Announcing Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn!

I dislike the GD/Titan Quest style of character builds (a lot of awkward “meta” mechanics and you more or less are the same character from level ten to endgame) but GD is very much a game I go back to every few months. So pretty much a no brainer to buy this expansion. Just something about the encounter balance and meatiness of attacks keeps me happy

Which is a shame that everything feels so “whiff” in the Titan Quest remaster.

It'll be super interesting to see how shapeshifting fits into the dual class setup.

Computerchairgeneral, do games w Cult of The Lamb x Don't Starve Together

Just finished Cult of the Lamb, but might have to pick it up for this. The survival mechanics sound interesting and it seems like they mesh well with the base game. Also, the crown having its own little tent when you sleep is a nice touch.

Fun idea for game!

gonzo-rand19, do games w Steam Beta: Wider store pages; Video support for written game descriptions
@gonzo-rand19@moist.catsweat.com avatar

I hate using the Steam client to browse the store because it stutters all the time and doesn't support tabs. Not to mention that the Enhanced Steam browser extension adds support for 3rd party sellers so I can see if there's a better price without leaving the page.

Without tabs, I can't browse a specific tag without having to go back and forth constantly, which is super annoying because page listings are dynamically loaded, so going back means starting from the top of the list all over again.

slimerancher, do games w John Wick Hex will be removed from sale on all platforms beginning July 17th, 2025
@slimerancher@lemmy.world avatar

It’s on my wishlist, but don’t want to buy on full price, but also don’t want to buy for PC…

hitagi, do games w RimWorld - Odyssey expansion and update 1.6 out now!

I like how these trailers are always like “I want more” then everything becomes chaotic. The gameplay does feel like that.

Neat!

Lojcs, do games w Steam Introduces In-Game Performance Monitor

Im not sure I like the cpu utilization being based on the base clock. A percentage that can go arbitrarily above 100 doesn't sound useful for determining bottlenecks. It must be difficult to accurately determine given all the dynamic boost stuff but since all other such utilities figured it out surely they can too. Hope they don't just leave this as good enough.

Mwa, do games w Steam Introduces In-Game Performance Monitor
@Mwa@thelemmy.club avatar

Imma just stick to MangoHud cause it works with Games Outside of Steam.

addie,
@addie@feddit.uk avatar

Also, MangoHud has an ability to set fps_limit in a per-game way that generally results in much smoother frame-pacing than most games achieve by default. That’s awesome for eg. Dark Souls / Elden Ring, which are stuttery at 60 fps but buttery at 59 for some reason, but also for random strategy games which would be just fine at 30 fps but instead have all the fans roaring to render at 144.

Mwa,
@Mwa@thelemmy.club avatar

Oh thank you, But most games have a fps limit right and i see this is more effective? And I have VRR on my monitor.

addie,
@addie@feddit.uk avatar

I’ve found that disabling VSync in games entirely and then letting MangoHud do the limiting works a bit better. Some of that will be because I’m using Proton on Linux, which has DXVK as a translation layer. Games will be trying to limit their frames the DirectX way, whereas MangoHud is limiting them the Vulkan way and is ‘closer to the monitor’ for keeping the pace right.

Since I have VRR on my monitor I won’t be needing this, but thanks.

AntiBullyRanger, do games w My friend made "Seven Hearts" from "Trails through Daybreak II" by Falcom in Tabletop Simulator

Nice. Might as well make it a formal game of it’s own b4 JASRAC TDR, using legally distinct mechanics.

eronth, do games w Dauntless is shutting down on May 29, 2025

Aw. I get why this happens to games, but it’s still sad to see.

filcuk, do gaming w Steam store pages are now required to disclose kernel-level anti-cheat [2024-10-30]

Does anyone actually have a suggestion for a less intrusive alternative?
Do you realise how difficult and ineffective server-side anti-cheat can be?
Although it would be the only way to actually try and detect someone using a second machine for hacking/inputs.
All of this will become an increasingly uphill battle for the devs.

DieserTypMatthias,
@DieserTypMatthias@lemmy.ml avatar

Write it in language that obfuscates code by default (Rust does that) and then it obfuscates again. Or do it the Valve way. Even though is very easy to crack their anticheat (the hacks and DLL injectors are basically for free both on Windows and Linux), they have other measures in place. E.g. Votekicking players, Overwatch and matchmaking against other hackers.

ReversalHatchery,

where did you read it that rust obfuscates the code?

you want vmprotect and such for that

DieserTypMatthias,
@DieserTypMatthias@lemmy.ml avatar

If security analysts have issues decompiling Rust malware, then it’s obvious that it obfuscates the code. All they could get was an ugly Assembly. You can try it yourself by downloading Ghidra/Cutter/any other compiler.
