Yep, can’t say I’m surprised. I saw that thread and read the linked article, any my first reaction was, yeah, those changes sound like a good idea. Then go to the comments, and no surprise, the “free speech” pedos are out in force.
I like the color of the first one, but the second one has a lot of atmosphere that the first doesn’t. Hopefully neither of them are final, or that’s just a bad screenshot for the second one.
It’s not, the environment/atmospheric fog/scatter is what makes your eye define scales on earth like environment. The 2022 screenshot has non of that and looks very bad CG vibe.
I agree with the general sentiment of my fellow commenters, however, coffee is hot, and there are labels on the coffee stating that because of a lawsuit like this. What a interesting precedent to games will this set. How you put a disclaimer in a game stating it’s difficulty level? Compared to what?
I can only speculate on why but speaking from over a decade of experience, leave it to the respective gaming communities to always pick the worst, most uninspired maps every time.
I think it has something to do with the saying in game development “Given enough time players will distill the fun out if every game.”.
If a map gets you kills fast it will be always picked above anything else. It doesn’t even have to be a guarantee, the prospect alone for getting a high kill count is enough. This results in either very small maps being favored (Nuketown, Shipment) or maps with critical chokepoints (Operation Locker (BF4), Metro (BF3,BF4)), Fort de Vaux (BF1)). Also maps that allow for cheap non-counterable tactics to get kills like Base Rape (Suez (BF1)), Vehicle Camping (Golmund (BF4)), Spawn Camping (Piccadilly, (MW2019)), etc…
Generally, every map that rewards unsportsmanlike behavior will be a community favorite.
If I ever were to release a video game I would never allow for map voting. As a player, I’d rather play maps that I dislike every once in a while instead the same 5 maps every time. And as a developer, why should I bother to invests tens of thousands of dollars to make a DLC with maps, if they are never going to be played anyway. The cherry on top is, the community still has the audacity to complain if a DLC has less maps than the last one, but then never play them anyway.
Assets. I found out the hard way that my 1650 can’t handle this game. The visuals and audio are really really good. So I guess most of the size went into the assets.
I’m gonna go with one from 2012 itself and say Torchlight II. I just don’t understand why other ARPGs aren’t copying the “pet to town” system so I can stay in the zone rather than spending forever sorting my inventory. It’s not perfect but imo it’s still the best that genre’s ever seen.
Reddit massively over uses automod and creates absurd rules. Way too many default subs are essentially impossible to post in because of karma, verified email, account age, other subs you posted in, it’s not the fun day of the week, everything belongs in the mega thread, or the mods just steal your posts.
Thank you. My old account had a lot of karma in all the subs I was active; but the APIcalypse made me create new accounts for following interesting stuff and when I made a post I found out that this was in place
@pineapplelover@Steamymoomilk These days, stuff made in China runs the gamut from sweatshop to well paid labour and from crappy clones to very premium manufacturing.
If a company talks about their work environment and prides themselves on it, the labour might be fair. I wouldn't trust this messaging from someone like Nike though.
