GammaGames, do gaming w Escape Simulator gets official Portal DLC

I’m intrigued, the trailer looks fun enough. I wonder if there’s a VR mod?

SmoochyPit,

Escape Simulator VR was announced for later this year; I assume it’ll support all of the DLCs and community maps too.

It really feels like a game from the bioware of Dragon Age: Origins, I’m loving it so far.

Might be a while if what I’m hearing is true… The Xbox Series S can’t handle couch co-op, and while it runs fine on the Series X, Microsoft demands feature parity. :(

ign.com/…/microsoft-engineers-helping-get-baldurs…

We always suspected the S would hold things back, here’s proof. :( I hope Microsoft comes out with a discless version of the X and just drops the S.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Either that, or they’ve got to lessen their requirements for parity.

winety,
@winety@communick.news avatar

Yeah. I’ve heard that. I’m glad Microsoft made the Series S; I own one and it’s my gate to modern gaming, as I don’t have enough money for a good computer nor Series X. It’s a nifty little machine. Obviously, I don’t want Microsoft to lower the parity requirements nor — shudder to think — discontinue the Series S. At the same time, I would really like to play BG3. Difficult times. I guess lowering the parity requirements would be the preferred option.

I wonder how many people actually play the Larian RPGs in multiplayer and what percentage of them uses couch coop. Personally, I can’t really see playing a long cRPG with someone else.

My wife is a diablo fiend and I think she’d make a good transition to a “real” RPG. We’ll see in September!

Awesome. Now if someone asks if I’ve played BG3, I can sardonically reply, "Isn’t that the game with the bear sex in it?

violetsareblue, do gaming w 'Dad, people are sending me pictures of bears': Baldur's Gate 3 boss Swen Vincke 'wasn't ready' for the bear sex scene to go so viral

Irritated this is in the title of post/article. Spoilers…

notepass,

Bear sex - the most important part of baldur’s gate 3. Ruined for thousands.

TheRtRevKaiser,
@TheRtRevKaiser@beehaw.org avatar

I understand frustration with potential spoilers, but to be fair this scene was in a livestreamed demo that Larian hosted that went viral before the game even launched. It’s not been kept particularly secret and I don’t think it’s probably a major plot point.

violetsareblue,

the point is that I should get to decide whether or not I learn about game stuff outside of the game. I did not watch any demos or play early access because I want to experience everything including the small stuff for the first time.

I can control not watching YT/Twitch/etc but I can’t control someone just full on posting a spoiler in the title of a post. If this was a BG3 community - fine. but it’s general gaming.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Dude, I heard about the bear sex scrolling on Mastodon. And then saw it again all over YouTube in thumbnails. If you follow any gaming news at all, you’re going to see stuff like this, the mildest of mild spoilers.

violetsareblue,

Doesn’t make it ok. All that means is people have gotten less considerate of their fellow gamers

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

It was something in the marketing material. Larian put it out so people would talk about it. And look, people are talking about it!

violetsareblue,

I think you’re purposely missing the point. If you can’t understand why posting spoilers in titles is inconsiderate - I don’t know how else to explain it. Just say you’re too selfish to even take 2 seconds to consider others who feel differently in the gaming community and go. Rather than try to explain and convince me you’re not inconsiderate - cause you are. Thanks

NuMetalAlchemist,

Lol, dude get off the internet if you are that worried. It was literally in the marketing material, you buffoon.

violetsareblue, (edited )

No, thanks. Sorry my pointing out that people (sounds like including you) can be inconsiderate by putting spoilers in titles is so deeply upsetting for you that you’re reduced to name-calling just to save your own ego. You can disagree and think it’s not a big deal. That’s fine. But then own that you just don’t care about others.

NuMetalAlchemist,

Reel it in, bub. Your mask is starting to peel.

Unless you are serious, in which case, seek psychiatric help.

I guess this is the natural end state of having "talk to animals" as a spell.

If you level it up enough, it becomes “sex with animals.”

flameguy21,

It was one of the few things I DID know about this game lmao

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Same! I knew it was based on D&D and you could have sex with a bear. 🤣

howsetheraven,

Meh. As I get older I don’t have my finger on the pulse anymore. Things come out and I go “oh cool” and I pick it up whenever.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

I’ve barely even talked to the dude who I assume is the wildshape you can romance. Of course I didn’t know. I’ve been rolling with the boss bitches because all the good fighters are the ladies.

Lowbird,

I specifically avoid most gaming sites and forums because I hate this type of casual spoiling. I don’t want to have to avoid beehaw gaming too.

I know a lot of people don’t care about spoilers, and that’s a-okay and a valid way to enjoy games. But surprises are very important to the way I enjoy them. I hardly ever replay games either, for this reason. I totally understand why some people don’t care at all, but nonetheless, spoilers like this do affect my enjoyment of games. This one admittedly probably less so than most, but even so, I’d have rather not known ahead of time.

Edit: ah, apparently this was part of a marketing campaign? That’s more forgiveable, then, for people to be chatting about it, though I still don’t want to know.

Grimpen, do gaming w 'Dad, people are sending me pictures of bears': Baldur's Gate 3 boss Swen Vincke 'wasn't ready' for the bear sex scene to go so viral

People obsess over the weirdest things. Just need to develop broader hobbies, instead of obsessing over video games. Like maybe read some Governor-General literary awards winning novels. Yeah.

Bear sex. Not what I would expect from this game but I haven’t played any in the series. It does make me want to play it just to see how this fits into the story tbh. Good marketing.

Pyro,

It’s a different dev then others.

Its a side story were you can romance the companions your with, n the main story little to no impact

Jdreben,

Amazing. Love those kinds of side quests. Reminds me of Mass Effect.

Bioware made the previous Baldur's Gate games so that makes sense lol

teydam,

It fits right in. great RPG game has great elements that are expansive. part of the sell indeed.

FlashMobOfOne,

That isn’t even close to the weirdest sex scene you can barge in on in the game.

But I won’t spoil it for you.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, where you quite literally barge in on…oh, I could have done without that one. Hooooboy.

Dalek_Thal,

Still got that one burned into my brain. Not to mention the joke Gale made there. Christ on a bike…

stopthatgirl7,

I didn’t have Gale with me for that one; what did he say?

Dalek_Thal,
@Dalek_Thal@aussie.zone avatar

Paraphrasing, as I don’t remember his wording: “Crap, a half-ogre in the making!”

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Ahh, ok, that line, or a variant of it, gets said by someone in the party. In mine, Lae’vel said, “Let’s not disturb a half-orc in the making.”

FlashMobOfOne,

I’m sure we’re thinking the same thing.

iso, do gaming w 'We haven't started on an expansion' to Baldur's Gate 3, Larian says, but it's not completely off the table

I’d actually rather love some sort of different campaign or some adventure packs, similar to how D&D does it with their expansion books.

Either that or a great mod tool that would allow for something like that. Doesn’t even need support for added races, classes or traits. Just a map editor with a mob editor slapped on top would be a gamechanger

Neato, do gaming w 'We haven't started on an expansion' to Baldur's Gate 3, Larian says, but it's not completely off the table
@Neato@kbin.social avatar

5e wasn't tested past level 10. It's incredibly unbalanced. But I'm confident Larian could figure out a way for it to feel good.

Aussiemandeus, do gaming w 'We haven't started on an expansion' to Baldur's Gate 3, Larian says, but it's not completely off the table
@Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone avatar

Even a D&D campaign at this level is hard to DM, I cant imagine the complexity in trying to really gameify this when especially at the end your players are gods.

Cast wish, may as well just let players write their own code for what they want.

Sure bigger stronger enemies are available but parties become so powerful i can’t see it being easy.

Madison_rogue,
@Madison_rogue@kbin.social avatar

I would say just leave those aspects out of the game, or put strict limitations on their usage. You could isolate higher magic abilities to specific items (e.g. deck of many things).

It is complex, however I think if you look to games like Neverwinter as a template for moving forward (absent microtransactions).
